Junior Market at new record high – Friday

New record high for the JSE Junior Market.

The record-breaking run by the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange continued, in trading on Friday, with the market index rising 20.53 points to close at 3,600.97 pushing the gain for the market in 2019 to 11 percent.
The Junior Market ended with 29 securities changing hands, compared to 31 on Thursday, as prices of 13 securities rose, 12 declined and 5 remained unchanged. At the close, three stocks closed at 52 weeks’ highs, General Accident at $5.99, Lasco Manufacturing at $5.25, Stationery and Office Supplies  trading at an all-time high of $13.80. Lasco Financial traded at a 52 weeks’ high of $6.97 but ended at $6 at the close.
Market activities resulted in an exchange of 5,740,137 units valued at $27,712,664 up 25 percent from 4,594,972 units valued at $22,321,170 on Thursday.
The average trade for the day was 197,936 units at $955,609 for each security traded, in contrast to 139,242 units for an average of $676,399 on Thursday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 184,657 units valued at $846,809 and previously 181,805 valued at $823,437 for each security traded. July ended with an average of 138,412 units at $563,215 for each security traded.

The record-breaking run by the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange resumed, in trading on Thursday, with the market index rising 39.90 points to end at a record close at 3,580.44 pushing the gain for the market in 2019 to 10 percent.
The Junior Market closed with 31 securities changing hands, down from 35 on Wednesday, as prices of 9 securities rose, 9 declined and 13 remained unchanged.
At the close, three stocks traded at intraday highs but backed off at the close. General Accident closed at a high of $5.41, Indies Pharma traded at a high of $4.10 but dropped back to $3.30 and Lasco Financial traded at a 52 weeks’ high of $6.56 and ended at $6.50 at the close.

Investors pushed most prices higher on the Junior Market in trading on Friday with the vast majority of companies contributing to market activity as the market index rocketed to cross the 3,500 mark for the first time.
The Junior Market Index jumped 74.67 points to close at a record 3,537.21 on a day when 35 securities changed hands, up from 32 on Wednesday, as prices of 21 securities rose, 9 declined and 5 remained unchanged.

Record run continues for Junior Market

Investors’ attention is now focused on the Junior Market with their buying interest lifted it 16 percent, from this year’s low and pushed the market to a second day close, at a record high of 3,462.54 after rising 21.62 points.

3 days listing triples the Lab’s value

Investors in the advertising agents, Limners and Bards (the Lab) saw their investment tripling, with just three days of listing on the Junior Market, helping to push the market index to a record closing high.
The Lab that went to the market at an IPO price of $1, climbed to $3 at the close of trading on Tuesday since listing on Friday.
The stock is one of 36 securities changing hands on Tuesday, just outpacing the 34 that traded on Monday, as prices of 20 securities advanced, 10 declined and 6 remained unchanged.
 At the close, the Junior Market Index surged 56.51 points to close at record closing high of 3,440.92, surpassing the 3,436.31 points reached on September 20 last year and is now up 6 percent for the year, after falling as high as 9.6 percent

Lasco Manufacturing ended trading 133,549 shares, after rising 15 cents to end at $4.35, Limners and Bards closed 85 cents higher at $3, with 9,233,651 stock units trading, Medical Disposables ended trading of 11,800 shares, after rising 50 cents to end at $7.50, Main Event lost 35 cents in trading of 5,000 units at $7. Paramount Trading closed trading of 1,000 units and gained 10 cents to end at $2.40, Iron Rock Insurance closed trading of 7,046 units and gained 20 cents to end at $4.10. Stationery and Office Supplies declined 80 cents to settle at $11.40 after trading 5,000 shares, Sweet River ended trading with 4,000 shares, after rising 19 cents to end at $2.75, tTech ended trading of 19,690 shares, after rising 70 cents to end at $5.90.

The Lab doubles price in two days

Advertising agents, Limners and Bards, the most recent listing on the Junior Market, more than doubled the $1 IPO price since listing on Friday, after rising 80 cents on Monday to close at $2.10.
The stock is one a day when 34 securities changed hands, down from 30 on Friday, as prices of 11 securities advanced, 12 declined and 11 remained unchanged.
 At the close, the Junior Market Index climbed 41.05 points to close at 3,384.41 and is now up 4 percent for the year.
Market activities, resulted in an exchange of 6,233,349 units valued at $30,586,927, compared to 4,017,691 units amounting to $20,933,388 on Friday.
By the close of trading, Blue Power ended at a 52 weeks’ closing high of $14.40 and Stationery and Office Supplies ended at a 52 weeks’ high of $12.20 but Jamaican Teas that traded at a 52 weeks’ high of $5.99 failed to hold this price at the close.
Trading ended with an average of 183,334 units for an average of $899,616 in contrast to 133,923 units for an average of $697,780 on Friday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 100,126 units with a value of $397,886 for each security traded, compared to 95,347 units with a value of $356,070 traded previously. Limners and Bards started trading on the Junior Market but only 100 shares officially traded, as the price hit the 30 percent limitation at the first trade and no other investor was willing to sell at that price.
The stock closed at an all-time high of $1.30 but with the bid at $1.65 on a day when 30 securities changed hands, down from 34 on Thursday, as prices of 16 securities advanced, 10 declined and 4 remained unchanged.
The Junior Market Index climbed 25.27 points to close at 3,343.36 on Friday, and in so doing moved strongly into the black for 2019 with gains of 3 percent for the year.

Big push higher for Junior Market

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market Index surged 85.66 points to end at 3,318.09 on Thursday, the highest close for the year, and the highest point since the latter part of October last year.
Since the close of trading last week Thursday, the Junior Market gained 234.26 and is now 2.2 percent up, for the year. The PE ratio is just 11 times 2019 estimated earnings well off from the more than 15 for the main market.
By the close of trading, Blue Power jumped to a 52 weeks’ high of $13.50 and so did Elite Diagnostic that closed trading at $6 and Stationery and Office Supplies trading at a record $12.
The market closed with 34 securities changing hands, compared to 27 on Wednesday, resulting in the prices of 21 rising, 8 declining and 5 remaining unchanged.
Trading picked up over Wednesday’s levels with an exchange of 2,463,608 units valued at $13,106,397, compared to 2,728,440 units valued at $14,270,901, on Wednesday.
Trading ended with an average of 72,459 units for an average of $385,482 in contrast to 101,053 units for an average of $528,552 on Wednesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 93,288 units with a value of $337,830 for each security traded, compared to 94,629 units with a value of $334,761 traded previously.
