Mailpac leads trading with 44m shares

Mailpac dominated trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Tuesday, with the stock accounting for 90 percent of the day’s volume which saw rising stocks far outweighing decliners. The market managed modest gains as investors exchanged 1,326 percent more shares than on Monday.
The market closed with an exchange of 49,121,788 shares for $110,386,381, up from 3,445,343 units at $7,674,800 on Monday. Mailpac Group led trading with 44.23 million shares, followed by Caribbean Producers with 6.3 percent of the day’s trade with an exchange of 3.11 million units and Jamaican Teas with 0.9 percent market share with a transfer of 426,360 units.
Trading ended with 38 securities changing hands up from 33 on Monday and concluded with the prices of 19 stocks rising, nine declining and 10 remaining unchanged.
The Market Index rose 20.96 points to 2,522.76. The average PE Ratio ended at13.4 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Trading averaged 1,292,679 units at $2,904,905 in contrast to 104,404 at $232,570 on Monday. Trading month to date averaged 367,408 units at $829,230 compared to 149,021 units at $339,320 on Monday. November closed with an average of 193,331 units at $566,885.

At the close of the market, Access Financial jumped $2.11 to $22.06 with an exchange of 10 shares, AMG Packaging slipped 9 cents to $1.60 with 1,597 stocks changing hands, Blue Power dropped 43 cents to $3 with owners switching 5,010 stock units. Cargo Handlers shed 88 cents and traded 2,000 units to close at $6.32, Caribbean Assurance Brokers gained 7 cents to finish at $1.80 with 13,146 shares passing through the market, Caribbean Flavours lost 5 cents to end at $1.70 with a transfer of 5,451 stocks. Gains for Junior Market on Monday

Rising and declining stocks were almost even in numbers at the close of trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Monday, with the market index just inching higher at the close with nine percent fewer shares traded than on Friday.
The market closed with 33 securities changing hands, the same number as on Friday, and finished with the prices of 12 stocks rising, 13 declining and eight closing with prices remaining unchanged.
The Junior Market Index rose 5.58 points to 2,501.80. The average PE Ratio ended at 13.1 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 3,445,343 shares for $7,674,800 compared to 3,764,642 units at $7,764,562 on Friday. Jamaican Teas led trading with 43.5 percent of total volume for a transfer of 1.5 million shares, followed by Caribbean Producers with 10.5 percent of the day’s trade with an exchange of 363,416 units and Tropical Battery with 9.2 percent market share or 317,250 units.
Trading averaged 104,404 units at $232,570 in contrast to 114,080 at $235,290 on Friday. The month to date, averaged 149,021 units at $339,320, compared to 160,524 units at $366,841 on Friday. November closed with an average of 193,331 units at $566,885 trading.

IC TOP 10 buffeted by market consolidation

Both the Junior and Main Market continue to consolidate ahead of a bullish period to come, as trading activities were calmer during the past week on the Jamaican Stock Exchange after a surge in prices towards the end of November. There were no major price movements this past week, but the price of Grace Kennedy pulled back from $67 to close at $64 at the end of the week while JMMB Group moved up to $35 from $34 last week.

Wisynco squeezes back into ICInsider TOP 10.

Fontana closed trading $5.35 and that was enough to move it out of the IC TOP 10. Honey Bun, with its earnings now based on the fiscal year ending September 2021 replaced Fontana. Stanley Motta is out of the Main Market TOP 10, with the stock rising to $5.35 and replaced by Wisynco Group, in at tenth position.
Profit after tax at Honey Bun, rose a healthy 76 percent to $54 million from $31 million in the fourth quarter over the similar period in 2019, bettering the 21 percent rise in the June quarter, to $20.4 million from $16.7 million. For the year to September, profit increased just 6.6 percent to $167 million from $156 million in 2019, from sale revenues that rose 15.5 percent for the quarter, to $432 million from $374 million but rose 8.5 percent for the year, to $1.675 billion from $1.544 billion in 2019. Earnings projection for the 2021 fiscal year is 55 cents, up from 35 cents for 2020 giving the stock a PE of 10.

Wisynco Group’s performance was on a roll, with revenues up 27.5 percent in the nine months to March this year, and 24 percent in the March quarter, but gross profit margin slipped in the March quarter while rising Administration and other expenses squeezed profits even more. Sales dipped slightly in the June and September quarters, but the September 2019 quarter, includes sales of $503 million from a discontinued operation, leaving flat sales from ongoing operations. Net Profits Attributable to Stockholders from continuing operations was $851 million or 23 cents per stock unit compared to $932 million or 25 cents per stock unit for the corresponding period of the prior year. Revenues for the quarter from continuing operations of $8.1 billion fell 6.1 percent from $8.6 billion in the 2019 quarter. The company expects to have lower energy costs with the successfully commissioning of the Cogeneration plant in July 2020, with the company seeing a positive contribution from the implementation through reduced energy costs.
The top three stocks in the Junior Market with the potential to gain between 239 to 400 percent by March 2021 are Caribbean Producers, followed by Elite Diagnostic and Limber Depot. With expected gains of 147 to 252 percent, the top three Main Market stocks are, Berger Paints followed by Radio Jamaica, Carreras and Sygnus Credit Investments tied for the third position.
The local stock market’s targeted average PE ratio is 20 based on profits of companies reporting full year’s results, from now to the second quarter in 2021. The Junior and Main markets are currently trading well below the market average, indicating the potential gains ahead. The JSE Main Market ended the week, with an overall PE of 16.1 and the Junior Market 13.1, based on ICInsider.com’s projected 2020-21 earnings. The PE ratio for the Junior Market Top 10 stocks average a mere 6.9 at just 53 percent of the market average. The Main Market TOP 10 stocks trade at a PE of 9 or 56 percent of the PE of that market.
The average projected gain for the Junior Market IC TOP 10 stocks is 210 percent and 133 percent for the JSE Main Market, based on 2020-21 earnings. IC TOP 10 stocks are likely to deliver the best returns up to March 2021 and ranked in order of potential gains, based on likely gain for each company, taking into account the earnings and PE ratios for the current fiscal year. Expected values will change as stock prices fluctuate and result in movements in and out of the lists weekly. Revisions to earnings per share are ongoing, based on receipt of new information.

More stocks fell than rose as 48 percent fewer shares were traded than on Thursday, and helping in driving the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange to close down on Friday after the market moved higher in the morning session.
Trading ended with 33 securities changing hands compared to 29 on Thursday and concluded with the prices of 11 stocks rising, 16 declining and six remaining unchanged.
The Junior Market Index shot up to 2,540.66 points after an hour and three-quarters of trading and later plummeted more than 44 points to close at 2,496.22, after a decline of 9.44 points from the close on Thursday. The average PE Ratio ended at 13.2 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with 3,764,642 shares trading for $7,764,562 compared to 7,231,212 units at $17,420,235 on Thursday. Jamaican Teas led trading with 34 percent of the day’s volume after a transfer of 1.28 million shares, followed by Lumber Depot with 24.1 percent with an exchange of 909,101 units and Mailpac Group with 12.3 percent or 463,285 shares.

Junior Market just hangs on to gains

Trading activity resulted in increased volume and value of stocks changing hands on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Thursday, with slightly fewer securities than Wednesday and led the market into a slight gain after more stocks declined than gained.
Trading ended with 29 stocks changing hands compared to 31 on Wednesday, with the prices of nine rising, 11 declining and nine remaining unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index inched 1.31 points higher to 2,505.66. The average PE Ratio ending at 13 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Trading closed with an exchange of 137 percent more shares than Wednesday as 7,231,212 units traded for $17,420,235 versus 3,050,027 units at $6,670,693 on Wednesday. Mailpac Group led trading with 58.1 percent of total volume with a transfer of 4.2 million shares, followed by Jamaican Teas with 10.6 percent of the day’s trade with an exchange of 769,091 shares and Caribbean Producers with seven percent market share for 503,830 units.
Trading averaged 249,352 units at $600,698 in contrast to 98,388 at $215,184 on Wednesday. For the month to date, the average trade is 176,657 units at $412,538, compared to 144,715 shares at $329,861 on Wednesday. November trading averaged 193,331 units at $566,885.

Rise in Junior Market stopped

After four consecutive days of increases, the Junior Market index finally gave way on Wednesday but not without a move higher in the morning session. Trading ended with the majority of stocks rising after an exchange of 47 percent fewer shares with a 50 percent fall in the consideration, compared to Tuesday.
Trading ended with 31 securities changing hands compared to 35 on Tuesday and closed with the prices of 15 stocks rising, seven declining and nine remaining unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index dropped 16.98 points to 2,504.35after it traded as high as 2,546,04 points after 41 minutes of trading. The average PE Ratio ended at 13.2 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.

4 days of gains for Junior Market

Stocks rose for the fourth consecutive day on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange when the market index eked a modest rise at the close on Tuesday despite more stocks falling than rising as market activity accounted for 65 percent fewer shares changing hands than on Monday.
Trading ended with 35 stocks changing hands compared to 34 on Monday, with prices of 13 stocks rising, 18 declining and four remaining unchanged.
The Market Index squeezed out a gain of 5.26 points to close at 2,521.33. The average PE is 13.1 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Trading in 6,501,187 shares for $15,100,161 versus 10,722,538 units at $28,515,368 on Monday. Jamaican Teas controlled 52.3 percent of total volume with 3.40 million shares, followed by Mailpac Group with 20.3 percent after a transfer of 1.32 million units and Fontana with 8.2 percent market share or 530,841 units.
Trading averaged 185,748 units at $431,433 compared to 315,369 at $838,687 on Monday. November ended with an average of 193,331 units at $566,885.

At the close of the market, Access Financial dropped $2.58 to $19.92 with the trading of a mere 100 shares, AMG Packaging gained 6 cents to end at $1.65 with an exchange of 1,141 stocks, Blue Power rose 5 cents to $2.60 in an exchange of 7,040 stock units. CAC 2000 shed $2 to $8 with a transfer of 1,564 shares, Cargo Handlers lost 11 cents to $7.20 with 200 units traded, Caribbean Assurance Brokers advanced 19 cents to $1.91 with an exchange of 500 stocks. Caribbean Cream fell 12 cents to $4 with 8,513 shares changing hands, Caribbean Flavours lost 5 cents to close at $1.70 with a transfer of 14,992 stocks, Caribbean Producers climbed 18 cents to $2.60 with 500 units traded. Consolidated Bakeries declined by 12 cents to settle at $1.10 with 5,000 shares passing through the market, Derrimon Trading gained 15 cents and exchanged 66,059 stocks to end at $2.50, Elite Diagnostic dropped 27 cents to $3.03 with 88,087 units changing hands. Express Catering rose 5 cents to $4.05 with a transfer of 250 shares, Fontana traded 530,841 stock units and lost 3 cents to end at $4.97, Fosrich slipped 10 cents to $3.90 with 4,068 stocks passing through the market. General Accident fell 24 cents to $5.96 with 123,138 shares changing hands, GWest Corporation gained 4 cents to finish at 69 cents in switching ownership of 11,159 units, iCreate closed 1 cent higher at 66 cents with 19,023 stock units traded. Indies Pharma lost 3 cents to end at $2.55 with a transfer of 5,428 shares, Jamaican Teas traded 3,400,162 units in shedding 22 cents to settle at $1.79, KLE Group dropped 30 cents to $1.15 with 5,000 stocks passing through the market. Knutsford Express jumped 29 cents to $6 with 1,053 shares traded, Lasco Distributors rose 17 cents to $3.46 with 21,784 stocks changing hands, Lasco Manufacturing closed 2 cents higher at $3.68 in a transfer of 95,410 units. Limners and Bards fell 13 cents to $2.50 with 39,832 stock units traded, Lumber Depot declined 15 cents to $1.20 with 168,882 shares passing through the market, Mailpac Group traded 1,321,705 stocks and slipped 1 cent to $2.20. SSL Venture rose 3 cents to 56 cents with a transfer of 14,628 units, Tropical Battery lost 6 cents to finish at $1.17 with 225,701 shares traded and tTech shed 52 cents to close at $4.08 with 44,599 stock units crossing the exchange.
In the preference segment, CAC 2000 gained 1 cent to end at $1 with 99,921 stocks changing hands.

Junior Market holds on

Rising stocks squeezed out declining ones at the end of Mondays’ trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange as the market closed out November with the market eking out a modest gain as it ended the month with a small net gain over October’s close as it remained in a narrow trading range from the summer months.
The market closed with a sharply increased volume of 221 percent and valued 247 percent over Friday’s level.
Trading ended with 34 securities changing hands compared to 35 on Friday and closed with the prices of 17 stocks rising, 14 declining and three remaining unchanged. Investors traded 10,722,538 shares for $28,515,368 compared to 3,342,645 units at $8,216,185 on Friday. Derrimon Trading led trading with 35.2 percent of the total volume for 3.78 million shares followed by Mailpac Group with 16 percent for 1.72 million units. Tropical Battery with 14.7 percent market share for 1.58 million units and Fontana with 11.3 percent for 1.20 million units changing hands.
The Junior Market Index gained just 2.24 points to settle at 2,516.07, with the average PE Ratio ending at 13.4 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Trading averaged 315,369 units at $838,687 in contrast to 95,504 at $234,748 on Friday. For the month to date, the average trade is 193,331 units at $566,885, compared to 187,110 units at $553,030 on Friday. October averaged 230,868 units at $535,509.

Cargo Handlers ended at $7.31, with gains of 95 cents trading 512 units, Caribbean Assurance Brokers lost 18 cents transferring 17,811 shares to close at $1.72, Caribbean Cream declined 1 cent to $4.12, with 2,829 units passing through the market. Caribbean Flavours gained 8 cents to end at $1.75, with an exchange of 7,342 stock units, Caribbean Producers shed 21 cents trading 45,685 stocks to end at $2.42, Derrimon Trading lost 5 cents to end at $2.35 with 3,778,850 shares passing through the market. Dolphin Cove advanced 40 cents to $6.65, after the swapping of 6,651 units, Elite Diagnostic rose 28 cents to $3.30 trading 1,109 units, Everything Fresh gained 10 cents to end at 76 cents in exchanging 5,001 units. Express Catering closed 20 cents higher at $4, after crossing the exchange with 590 units, Fosrich lost 7 cents to end at $4, with the swapping of 12,387 stock units, General Accident gained 5 cents to settle at $6.20, after exchanging the market with 154,082 shares. GWest Corporation slipped 4 cents to 65 cents trading 15,205 units, Honey Bun gained 2 cents to end at $4.85 in clearing the market with 216,107 stocks, Indies Pharma carved out a gain of 7 cents to $2.58, in trading 59,122 units. Jamaican Teas lost 4 cents to end at $2.01, after clearing the market with 795,817 shares, Jetcon Corporation ended at 82 cents, with gains of 7 cents while trading 43,464 shares, Knutsford Express slid 29 cents to $5.71, with the swapping of 566 units. Lasco Financial lost 5 cents to end at $2.55 after exchanging 25,684 stock units, Lasco Manufacturing lost 14 cents to $3.66, after trading 57,387 stock units, Limners and Bards carved out a gain of 13 cents to end at $2.63, in an exchange of 210,501 shares. Lumber Depot rose 14 cents to $1.35, with 259,988 shares changing hands, Mailpac Group climbed 7 cents to $2.21, with 1,717,151 stock units changing hands, Medical Disposables shed 42 cents to close at $3.93, with the trading of 77,098 shares. Paramount Trading rose 18 cents to close at $1.50, with an exchange of 665 units, SSL Venture lost 4 cents to end at 53 cents, switching of ownership of 1,100 units, Stationery and Office Supplies ended at $4.43, after losing 12 cents transferring 4,152 units and Tropical Battery gained 13 cents to close at $1.23, in trading 1,579,900 shares.

Junior Market closes higher on Friday

The majority of stocks rose on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday, with the market index rising as investors traded 30 percent fewer shares with a value that was 57 percent lower than on Thursday even after Jamaican Teas, three for one stock split took effect at the start of trading and resulted in over 2.11 billion units in issue.

Trading ended with 35 securities changing hands compared to 32 on Thursday and ended with the prices of 17 stocks rising, the prices of nine declining and nine remaining unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index gained 26.08 points to settle at 2,513.83. The average PE Ratio ended at 12.4 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with 3,342,645 shares trading at $8,216,185 versus 4,782,100 units at $19,328,148 on Thursday.
Derrimon Trading led trading with 23 percent of total volume with a transfer of 768,451 shares, followed by Lumber Depot with 15.2 percent of the day’s trade with an exchange of 508,099 units and Jamaican Teas with 15 percent market share or 502,383 units.
Trading ended with an average of 95,504 units at $234,748 in contrast to 149,441 at $604,005 on Thursday. For the month to date, the average trade is 187,110 units at $553,030, compared to 192,183 units at $570,657 on Thursday. October ended with an average of 230,868 units at $535,509 trading.

At the close of the market, AccessFinancial gained 10 cents to finish at $22 with 5,000 shares changing hands, AMG Packaging lost 5 cents to settle at $1.55 with an exchange of 2,735 stock units, Caribbean Cream advanced 28 cents to end at $4.13 with a transfer of 50 shares. Caribbean Producers climbed 23 cents to close at $2.63 with 145,795 units traded, Consolidated Bakeries increased 20 cents to $1.22 with 3,582 stocks changing hands, Derrimon Trading exchanged 768,451 shares and fell 10 cents to $2.40.Dolphin Cove gained 24 cents to end at $6.25 with 965 units changing hands, Elite Diagnostic rose 2 cents to $3.02 with investors swapping 99,756 stocks, Everything Fresh lost 10 cents to finish at 66 cents with 2,394 shares traded. Express Catering jumped 44 cents to $3.80 with 10,590 stock units passing through the market, Fontana dropped 30 cents to $5 with an exchange of 260,252 units, Fosrich increased 6 cents to $4.07 with 27,449 shares changing hands. GWest Corporation slipped 4 cents to 69 cents with 2,242 stocks changing hands, Honey Bun rose 3 cents to $4.83, trading 12,684 shares, iCreate rose 4 cents to 65 cents with 75,897 units passing through the market. ISP Finance surged $6.39 to $22.50 with 2,270 stocks changing hands, after a three for one stock split, Jamaican Teas exchanged 502,383 shares and added 9 cents to settle at a post-split price of $2.05, Jetcon Corporation rose 5 cents to 75 cents with the transfer of 5,539 units. Lasco Financial rose 20 cents to close at $2.60 with 40,000 shares crossing the exchange, Lasco Manufacturing declined 10 cents to $3.80 with the trading of 5,375 stocks, Limners and Bards gained 5 cents to settle at $2.50 and switching ownership of 31,000 units. Lumber Depot traded 508,099 shares and lost 7 cents to end at $1.21, Medical Disposables jumped 42 cents to close at $4.35 with 4,000 stocks crossing the market, Stationery and Office Supplies gained 5 cents to finish at $4.55 with 8,958 units changing hands. Tropical Battery slipped 6 cents to $1.10 with 256,976 stocks traded and tTech shed 30 cents to $4.60 with 74,427 shares crossing the exchange.

Rising & falling Junior Market stocks even

Rising stocks equaled declining ones and helped move the market index of Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market up at the close on Thursday after trading 32 percent fewer shares with a 17 percent fall in value compared to Wednesday.
Trading ended with shares of 32 companies changing hands compared to 38 on Wednesday with an equal number of 15 stocks rising and declining, with two remaining unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index rose 28.32 points to settle at 2,487.75 after trading over the 2,500 points mark in the morning session. The average PE Ratio ended at 12.5 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Trading closed with 4,782,100 shares for $19,328,148 versus 7,027,159 units at $23,247,610 on Wednesday. Fontana led trading with 31.4 percent of the volume in exchanging 1.50 million shares, followed by Jamaican Teas with 21.8 percent for 1.04 million units and Mailpac Group with 18.3 percent after trading 875,012 shares.
Trading averaged 149,441 units at $604,005 in contrast to 184,925 at $611,779 on Wednesday. For the month to date, the average trade is 192,183 units at $570,657, compared to 194,462 units at $568,878 on Wednesday. October averaged 230,868 units at $535,509.
