Rising stocks dominate JSE majors

Rising stocks outclassed declining ones by more than a two to one ratio in Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market activity on Friday leading to a decent bounce in the market indices on Thursday, with 92 percent jump in the value of stocks traded.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 4,748.93 points to 428,013.58, the Main Index advanced by 4,304.89 points to 390,278.54 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.88 points to close at 99.36.
Trading ended with 43 securities changing hands, down from 44 on Thursday and closed with 25 rising, 11 declining and seven ended unchanged. The PE Ratio ended at an average of 16.6 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Traders exchanged 14,347,348 shares for $215,600,304 compared to 14,742,217 units at $112,092,139 on Thursday. Jamaica Broilers led trading with 35 percent of total volume, after an exchange of 5.02 million shares followed by QWI Investments 13.2 percent with 1.89 million units, Transjamaican Highway with 11.9 percent market share for 1.71 million units and Wigton Windfarm with 8.1 percent for 1.16 million units.
Trading for the day averaged 333,659 units at $5,013,961, versus 335,050 shares at $2,547,549 on Thursday. The month to date averages 427,484 units at $2,884,542, close to 437,301 units at $2,661,756 on Thursday. Trading in January averaged 311,275 units at $1,432,133.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading has 11 stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and two with lower offers.
At the close of trading, Barita Investments rose by $1 to $81, with 222,411 shares changing hands, Berger Paints fell by $1.60 to $12 trading 16,831 units, Caribbean Cement added $3.81 to end at $63.92, with the swapping of 7,798 stock units. Ciboney Group advanced 11 cents to close at 52 weeks’ high of 55 cents, with 310,629 shares clearing the market, First Rock Capital rose by $1 to $16 exchanging 48,810 units, Grace Kennedy declined by $2.50 to $82.50, with 51,108 stock units changing hands. Jamaica Broilers rose $1.99 to end at $28.99, trading 5,021,831 shares, Jamaica Producers gained 80 cents to close at $20.50, exchanging 9,755 stock units, Kingston Wharves gained $1.30 to end at $47.80 trading 5,633 units. Mayberry Investments climbed 20 cents to $5.50 trading 60,070 stock units, NCB Financial closed $1.65 higher at $138.65, with the swapping of 111,606 shares. Palace Amusement declined by $50.01 to close at $999.99, in exchanging 200 stock units, PanJam Investment advanced $3.81 to $70, with 3,166 stocks crossing the market, Salada Foods shed 90 cents to end at $40, with 16,019 units changing hands, Seprod climbed $4.99 to $70 after 55,651 shares crossed the market. Stanley Motta gained 45 cents to settle at $5.35 exchanging 945,893 stocks, Supreme Ventures slipped 50 cents to end at $15.50, in switching owners for 96,790 stock units, Sygnus Credit Investments gained 55 cents to finish at $15.75 trading 55,266 shares. Victoria Mutual Investments rose 28 cents to $5.79, with 113,332 units changing hands and Wisynco Group gained 36 cents in ending at $16.35, trading 108,260 stock units.

Stocks gave back much of the gains generated on Wednesday with a loss of 77 percent of the gains in the market indices on Thursday at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market after 66 percent fewer shares were exchanged at half the values of Wednesday traded.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index declined by 2,490.53 points to 423,264.65, the Main Index shed 2,253.82 points to 385,973.65 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.19 points to settle at 98.48.
Trading ended with 44 securities changing hands, down from 48 on Wednesday and closed with prices of 21 stocks rising, 15 declining and eight remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio closed with an average of 16.4 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Traders exchanged 14,742,217 shares for $112,092,139 compared to 43,738,990 units at $240,182,541 on Wednesday. QWI Investments led trading with 29.1 percent of total volume, after exchanging 4.29 million shares followed by Wigton Windfarm with 26.7 percent for 3.92 million units, Sagicor Select Manufacturing & Distribution Fund with 10.6 percent with 1.57 million units and Transjamaican Highway with 7.1 percent of the day’s trade for 1.04 million units.
Trading for the day averaged 335,050 units at $2,547,549, down from 911,229 shares at $5,003,803 on Wednesday. The month to date averaged 437,301 units at $2,661,756, in contrast to 449,559 units at $2,675,448 on Wednesday. Trading in January averaged 311,275 units at $1,432,133.

Jamaica Stock Exchange gained $1.14 to end at $18.80 trading 11,400 stocks, Kingston Wharves declined by $1.50 to $46.50 after 160 shares crossed the market, NCB Financial rose $1 to close at $137, in exchanging 50,970 stock units. PanJam Investment finished $1.19 higher at $66.19 trading 3,371 units, Portland JSX shed 79 cents to $8.01 with an exchange of 6,410 stock units, Proven Investments closed 60 cents lower at $37.40, trading 7,985 units. Salada Foods rose 90 cents to end at $40.90 with 4,399 stock units changing hands, Scotia Group fell $1.50 to $42.50 after exchanging 147,223 stocks, Seprod declined by $1.01 to $65.01 trading 16,487 stocks. Supreme Ventures slid $1.10 to $16, in transferring 113,376 stock units and Victoria Mutual Investments lost 28 cents to close at $5.51 after crossing the market with 6,600 shares.
In the preference segment, Eppley 8.25% rose $1 to close at $8 with 3,529 units clearing the market and Productive Business Solutions 9.75% preference share gained 50 cents to end at $110.50 with one stock unit changing hands.

Stocks regained some of the ground lost on Tuesday with the volume of shares traded rising 162 percent and values climbing 200 percent over Tuesday as advancing stocks edged out declining ones, with the market closing with three securities ending at 52 weeks’ highs.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index rose 3,222.51 points to 425,755.18, the Main Index advanced by 2,902.45 points to 388,227.47 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.01 points to settle at 98.29.
Trading ended with 48 securities changing hands, up from 44 on Tuesday and closed with 22 stocks rising, 21 declining and five remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio closed with an average of 16.5 based on ICInsider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Traders exchanged 43,738,990 shares for $240,182,541 compared to 16,697,777 units at $80,072,023 on Tuesday. Pulse Investments led trading with 66.8 percent of total volume, after an exchange of 29.23 million shares followed by Transjamaican Highway with 8.5 percent for 3.71 million units. Wigton Windfarm ended with 7.9 percent of the day’s trade for 3.47 million units, QWI Investments with 5.6 percent for 2.46 million units and Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 4 percent for 1.77 million units changing hands.

Falling stock prices dominated trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Tuesday with the prices of almost half of stocks that traded falling in price, compared a third that rose and resulting the market suffering the biggest single day move for the year to date.
The All Jamaican Composite Index plunged 6,111.53 points to close at 422,532.67, the Main Index dived 5,742.57 points to 385,325.02, and the JSE Financial Index shed 1.79 points to settle at 98.30.
Trading ended with 44 securities changing hands, down from 49 on Monday and closed with prices of 14 stocks rising, 21 declining and nine remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio closed with an average of 16.4 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Investors exchanged 16,697,777 shares for $80,072,023 compared to 14,886,632 units at $96,260,639 on Monday. Transjamaican Highway led trading with 41.9 percent of total volume, after an exchange of 6.99 million shares followed by Wigton Windfarm with 21.9 percent for 3.66 million units and Pulse Investments with 13.9 percent market share for 2.32 million units changing hands.

Trading activity jumped on Monday with 66 percent more shares crossing the market than on Friday, with the value just marginally up, when the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market closed.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index rose 399.84 points to 428,644.20, the Main Index advanced by 590.88 points to 391,067.59 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.10 points to settle at 100.09.
Trading ended with 49 securities changing hands, up from 45 on Friday and closed with 24 rising, 18 declining and seven remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio now averages 16.8 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 14,886,632 shares for $96,260,639 compared to 8,950,572 units at $95,033,632 on Friday. Pulse Investments led trading with 33.1 percent of total volume, after exchanging 4.92 million shares, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 18.1 percent for 2.69 million units, Transjamaican Highway ended with 17 percent of the day’s trade for 2.53 million units and QWI Investments accounted for 11 percent with 1.63 million units changing hands leading the price to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $1.05.

IC TOP10 stocks to drive JM over 2800

The Junior Market is expected to blast pass the 2,800 the index mark, this coming week, following positive results just released by Lasco Manufacturing, Lasco Distributors and Jamaican Teas, to help the market to continue the 2021 rise after reaching a new eleven-month high, on Friday.
The market index closed just under 2,800 points, on Friday with a 5.8 percent gain for the year to date.
The market should continue to benefit from strong interest in Caribbean Flavours, Mailpac that traded at a record high on Friday at $4.43 before closing at $3.99 and from Lumber Depot.
Lasco Manufacturing and Honey Bun keep changing places in IC TOP10 best performing Junior Market stocks. At the close of the previous week, Lasco Manufacturing replaced Honey Bun, but this past week, the roles are reversed with both companies seeing a reversal of fortune in prices.
Lasco Manufacturing closed at $4.32 up from $3.90 last week, while Honey Bun price fell from $6 to $5.88. In addition, Lasco earnings per share were adjusted down to 35 cents from 37 cents, with the company reporting nine months results showing revenues rising 6 percent but being up 3.5 percent for the December quarter and earnings per share moving to 25 cents from 19 cents in 2019. Lasco Distributors earnings were also adjusted down, with the release of the nine months results showing earnings per share of 21 cents and 7 cents for the December quarter, putting the full-year numbers at 30 cents per share.
The Main Market TOP10 stocks continue with the same stocks as the week before, but Grace Kennedy price continues upward as interest in the stock remains strong.
The Junior Market is up 5.8 percent for 2021 and is currently powered by a bullish golden cross, setting to take the market beyond 3,000 points and likely beyond 4,000. The release of company results in the next week will play a big role in the next few weeks that will add fuel to the current rally. In this regard, based on 2020 release of results, interim financials are expected this week, from Access Financial, Barita Investments, General Accident, Iron Rock Insurance, Lasco Financial, Fontana, Elite Diagnostics, Honey Bun, JMMB Group and RJR.
The current TOP 10 report is based on earnings for 2020/21 as there are substantial gains ahead, for many stocks in the listings.
The top three Junior Market stocks with the potential to gain between 208 and 373 percent are Caribbean Producers followed by Elite Diagnostic and Lasco Financial. With expected gains of 132 to 324 percent, the top three Main Market stocks are, Berger Paints followed by Scotia Group and Sygnus Credit Investments.
The local stock market’s targeted average PE ratio is 20 based on profits of companies reporting full year’s results, from now to the second quarter in 2021. The Junior and Main markets are currently trading well below the market average, indicating strong gains ahead. The JSE Main Market ended the week, with an overall PE of 18.8 and the Junior Market 15, based on ICInsider.com’s projected 2020-21 earnings. More gains for JSE Main Market

Stocks enjoyed another bounce at the end of trading on Friday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market, but the number of stocks declining almost doubled those rising ones, with the volume of trades falling 28 percent while values were 54 percent higher than on Thursday.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index rose 1,230.66 points to 428,244.36and the Main Index gained 1,046.02 points to 390,476.71, with a 1.3 percent decline for the year to date. The JSE Financial Index added 0.75 points to settle at 99.99.
Trading ended with 45 securities changing hands, up from 44 on Thursday and closed with 12 stocks rising, 22 declining and 11 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio now averages 16.5 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 8,950,572 shares for $95,033,632 compared to 12,425,485 units at $61,762,267 on Thursday. Pulse Investments led trading with 28.6 percent of total volume, after an exchange of 2.56 million shares followed by QWI Investments with 19.4 percent for 1.74 million units after trading at a 52 weeks’ high of $1.03 and Wigton Windfarm with 10 percent market share for 898,219 units.
Trading for the day averaged 198,902 units at $2,111,858, compared to 282,397 shares at $1,403,688 on Thursday. The month to date averaged 396,747 units at $2,501,656, in contrast to 445,935 units at $2,598,567 on the prior trading day. Trading in January closed with an average of 311,275 units at $1,432,133.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading has 11 stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and two with lower offers.
At the close of the market, Berger Paints shed 69 cents to settle at $13.20, with an exchange of 3,000 shares. Ciboney Group rose 9 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ high of 35 cents with an exchange of 6,000 shares, Eppley Caribbean Property Fund fell $1.94 to $41.06 after trading 210 units, Grace Kennedy slid 90 cents to $73.70, in switching ownership of 105,823 stocks, Jamaica Broilers shed 20 cents in closing at $29, with 34,308 units changing hands. Jamaica Stock Exchange picked up 24 cents to close at $19.24 after investors swapped 110 shares, JMMB Group rose 45 cents to finish at $32.95, in trading 17,345 stocks. Kingston Wharves slipped 50 cents to $46.50 after exchanging 33,960 stock units, Palace Amusement dropped $250 to $850 after trading 89 shares. Pan Jam Investment declined by $2.30 to $64, with 4,741 units clearing the market, Proven Investments climbed $1.90 to $38.90, with switching ownership of 155,015 stocks, Pulse Investments lost 22 cents to close at $4.68, with 2,555,612 shares crossing the exchange. Salada Foods advanced by $3.90 in closing at $49.90, with 28,895 units changing hands, Seprod rose 51 cents to $71.51 trading 20,987 stock units, Supreme Ventures gained 50 cents to end at $17.40, with 4,427 units crossing the market and Sygnus Credit Investments picked up 34 cents to settle at $15.09, in an exchange of 77,107 shares.
In the preference segment, Community & Workers Credit Union closed 23 cents lower at $1.85, with 28,899 stock units crossing the exchange and JMMB Group 7.25% shed 46 cents in closing at $1.38, with 71,623 units changing hands.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones almost two to one on a day of subdued trading on the Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange ended trading on Thursday with the market rising after an exchange of 26 percent more shares but at 14 percent lower value than on Wednesday.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 1,444.54 points to 427,013.70, the Main Index rose 1,182.10 points to 389,430.69, and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.45 points to settle at 99.24.
Trading ended with 44 securities changing hands, down from 47 on Wednesday and closed with 21 rising, 12 declining and 11 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio averaged 16.6 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with trading of 12,425,485 shares for $61,762,267 compared to 9,831,136 units at $72,026,838 on Wednesday. QWI Investments led trading with 27.8 percent of total volume, after an exchange of 3.46 million shares with the stock trading at a 52 weeks’ high of $1.02, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 27.2 percent for 3.38 million units and Pulse Investments with 22.7 percent of the day’s trade for 2.82 million units.
Trading for the day averaged 282,397 units at $1,403,688, compared to 209,173 shares at $1,532,486 on Wednesday. The month to date averaged 445,935 units at $2,598,567, down from 498,459 units at $2,982,324 on Wednesday. Trading in January closed with an average of 311,275 units at $1,432,133.

Jamaica Broilers climbed $3.20 to $29.20 in exchanging 47,488 shares, JMMB Group gained 50 cents in closing at $32.50 trading 34,987 stock units, Kingston Properties lost 25 cents to settle at $7, with 6,600 shares crossing the market. Kingston Wharves finished 50 cents higher at $47, with an exchange of 3,643 stock units, Margaritaville rose 43 cents to $43.42, with a transfer of just 8 stock units, NCB Financial Group gained 50 cents to end at $137.50, with 21,786 units clearing the market. Palace Amusement advanced $250 to $1,100, with a transfer of 50 stock units, Pan Jam Investment closed $2.30 higher at $66.30, after 4,779 shares crossed the market, Sagicor Group climbed $3 to $52, with investors switching ownership of 84,688 stock units. Salada Foods closed at a 52 weeks’ high of $46, with a gain of $3.25 in exchanging 23,970 stocks, Scotia Group shed 70 cents in closing at $43, with 23,045 shares crossing the market, Seprod dropped $2.50 to finish at $71, with an exchange of 11,519 stock units. Sygnus Credit Investments shed 77 cents to close at $14.75, in switching ownership of 217,838 shares and Victoria Mutual Investments gained 40 cents to close at $5.85, after transferring 2,355 stock units.
In the preference segment, Eppley 8.75% preference share shed 51 cents in closing at $6.59, after 1,719 stock units cleared the market.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended trading on Wednesday with the market declining after more stocks fell than rose as investors exchanged 51 percent fewer shares than on Tuesday.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index fell by 1,979.75 points to 425,569.16, the Main Index dropped 1,835.84 points to 388,248.59 and the JSE Financial Index dipped 0.54 points to 98.79.
Trading ended with 47 active securities, up from 45 on Tuesday and closed with prices of 16 stocks rising, 18 declining and 13 closing unchanged. The PE Ratio closed with an average of 16.7 based on ICInsider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with trading of 9,831,136 shares for $72,026,838 compared to 19,931,036 units at $67,469,926 on Tuesday. Wigton Windfarm led trading with 22 percent of total volume, after exchanging 2.16 million shares followed by Pulse Investments with 18.9 percent for 1.86 million units. QWI Investments ended with 14.7 percent for 1.45 million units after trading at an intraday 52 weeks’ high of 99 cents and Transjamaican Highway with 11.8 percent of the day’s trade for 1.16 million units.
Trading for the day averaged 209,173 units at $1,532,486, compared to 442,912 shares at $1,499,332 on Tuesday. The month to date averaged 498,459 units at $2,982,324 or each security, in contrast to 649,530 units at $3,739,461 on the prior trading day. Trading in January averaged 311,275 units at $1,432, 133.

JMMB Group fell $1.60 to $32, with an exchange of 116,860 units, Kingston Wharves rose $1.20 to $46.50, in trading 3,234 shares, Mayberry Jamaican Equities advanced by $1.08 to $7.50, in exchanging 72,000 stock units. MPC Caribbean Clean Energy finished $8 lower at $137 trading 12 shares, NCB Financial Group rose $1 to $137, with 7,146 shares changing hands, Palace Amusement dropped $200 to end at 52 weeks’ low of $850, after an exchange of 24 shares. Pan Jam Investment fell by $1 to $64, in switching ownership of 821 units, Pulse Investments lost 28 cents at $4.70, with an exchange of 1,857,207 stock units, Sagicor Group declined by $3 to $49, with 61,577 shares crossing the market. Sagicor Real Estate Fund gained 25 cents to close at $8.25, with a transfer of 3,826 stocks. Salada Foods advanced by $5.75 to end at a 52 weeks’ high of $42.75, in switching ownership of 17,465 units. Seprod climbed $2.98 to $73.50, with an exchange of 9,932 units, Stanley Motta gained 29 cents to end at $5.35 trading 1,000 shares and Wisynco Group rose 30 cents to $16.55, with the swapping of 521,881 shares.

Big jump for JSE main Market

Trading ended with a robust rebound in the market indices on Tuesday after rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market, but the volume and values fell sharply from Monday’s levels by 48 and 75 percent respectively.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index jumped 4,248.43 points to 427,548.91 the Main Index climbed 3,864.20 points to 390,084.43 and the JSE Financial Index rose 0.84 points to settle at 99.33.
Trading ended with 45 securities changing hands, the same as on Monday and closed with prices of 21 stocks rising, 15 declining and nine remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio closed with an average of 16.6 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 19,931,036 shares for $67,469,926 compared to 38,526,662 units at $269,081,586 on Monday. Wigton Windfarm led trading with 56.5 percent of total volume, after an exchange of 11.26 million shares followed by Pulse Investments with 16.2 percent for 3.23 million units, Transjamaican Highway with 9.2 percent for 1.83 million units and QWI Investments with six percent market share for 1.20 million units changing hands.
Trading for the day averaged 442,912 units at $1,499,332 for each security, down from 856,148 shares at $5,979,591 on Monday. The month to date averaged 649,530 units at $3,739,461. Trading in January averaged 311,275 units at $1,432,133.

Jamaica Broilers rose 80 cents to $30, after trading 32,869 stock units, Jamaica Stock Exchange lost $1.30 to close at $17.20, in transferring 24,505 shares, JMMB Group gained $2.46 to close at $33.60, while exchanging 137,098 units, Kingston Wharves gained 30 cents in closing at $45.30 and trading 765 stock units. Mayberry Investments ended 30 cents higher at $5.60, with 39,592 stocks changing hands, Palace Amusement climbed $100 to close at $1,050 while exchanging 5 units, PanJam Investment rose $1 to $65 trading 1,219 stocks. Pulse Investments picked up 38 cents to end at $4.98, after an exchange of 3,233,145 shares, Salada Foods fell $1 to $37, with 48,187 shares changing hands, Scotia Group gained 78 cents to close at $43.78 in trading 7,334 stock units. Seprod jumped $6.52 to a record closing high of $70.52 after 3,980 shares crossed the market after trading at a record high of $83.99 earlier in the trading session and Supreme Ventures ended 30 cents lower at $16.70, in transferring 13,037 stocks.
In the preference segment, 138 Student Living Preference share shed 70 cents to close at $5.90, in switching ownership of 1,000 shares and Eppley 8.25% rose 90 cents to $7, after clearing the market with 371 units.
