Rising stocks dominate JSE majors

Rising stocks outclassed declining ones by more than a two to one ratio in Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market activity on Friday leading to a decent bounce in the market indices on Thursday, with 92 percent jump in the value of stocks traded.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 4,748.93 points to 428,013.58, the Main Index advanced by 4,304.89 points to 390,278.54 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.88 points to close at 99.36.
Trading ended with 43 securities changing hands, down from 44 on Thursday and closed with 25 rising, 11 declining and seven ended unchanged. The PE Ratio ended at an average of 16.6 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Traders exchanged 14,347,348 shares for $215,600,304 compared to 14,742,217 units at $112,092,139 on Thursday. Jamaica Broilers led trading with 35 percent of total volume, after an exchange of 5.02 million shares followed by QWI Investments 13.2 percent with 1.89 million units, Transjamaican Highway with 11.9 percent market share for 1.71 million units and Wigton Windfarm with 8.1 percent for 1.16 million units.
Trading for the day averaged 333,659 units at $5,013,961, versus 335,050 shares at $2,547,549 on Thursday. The month to date averages 427,484 units at $2,884,542, close to 437,301 units at $2,661,756 on Thursday. Trading in January averaged 311,275 units at $1,432,133.

Ciboney Group advanced 11 cents to close at 52 weeks’ high of 55 cents, with 310,629 shares clearing the market, First Rock Capital rose by $1 to $16 exchanging 48,810 units, Grace Kennedy declined by $2.50 to $82.50, with 51,108 stock units changing hands. Jamaica Broilers rose $1.99 to end at $28.99, trading 5,021,831 shares, Jamaica Producers gained 80 cents to close at $20.50, exchanging 9,755 stock units, Kingston Wharves gained $1.30 to end at $47.80 trading 5,633 units. Mayberry Investments climbed 20 cents to $5.50 trading 60,070 stock units, NCB Financial closed $1.65 higher at $138.65, with the swapping of 111,606 shares. Palace Amusement declined by $50.01 to close at $999.99, in exchanging 200 stock units, PanJam Investment advanced $3.81 to $70, with 3,166 stocks crossing the market, Salada Foods shed 90 cents to end at $40, with 16,019 units changing hands, Seprod climbed $4.99 to $70 after 55,651 shares crossed the market. Stanley Motta gained 45 cents to settle at $5.35 exchanging 945,893 stocks, Supreme Ventures slipped 50 cents to end at $15.50, in switching owners for 96,790 stock units, Sygnus Credit Investments gained 55 cents to finish at $15.75 trading 55,266 shares. Grounds lost by JSE Majors

Stocks gave back much of the gains generated on Wednesday with a loss of 77 percent of the gains in the market indices on Thursday at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market after 66 percent fewer shares were exchanged at half the values of Wednesday traded.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index declined by 2,490.53 points to 423,264.65, the Main Index shed 2,253.82 points to 385,973.65 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.19 points to settle at 98.48.
Trading ended with 44 securities changing hands, down from 48 on Wednesday and closed with prices of 21 stocks rising, 15 declining and eight remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio closed with an average of 16.4 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Traders exchanged 14,742,217 shares for $112,092,139 compared to 43,738,990 units at $240,182,541 on Wednesday. QWI Investments led trading with 29.1 percent of total volume, after exchanging 4.29 million shares followed by Wigton Windfarm with 26.7 percent for 3.92 million units, Sagicor Select Manufacturing & Distribution Fund with 10.6 percent with 1.57 million units and Transjamaican Highway with 7.1 percent of the day’s trade for 1.04 million units.

Wednesday bounce

Stocks regained some of the ground lost on Tuesday with the volume of shares traded rising 162 percent and values climbing 200 percent over Tuesday as advancing stocks edged out declining ones, with the market closing with three securities ending at 52 weeks’ highs.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index rose 3,222.51 points to 425,755.18, the Main Index advanced by 2,902.45 points to 388,227.47 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.01 points to settle at 98.29.
Trading ended with 48 securities changing hands, up from 44 on Tuesday and closed with 22 stocks rising, 21 declining and five remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio closed with an average of 16.5 based on ICInsider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings.

Falling stock prices dominated trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Tuesday with the prices of almost half of stocks that traded falling in price, compared a third that rose and resulting the market suffering the biggest single day move for the year to date.
The All Jamaican Composite Index plunged 6,111.53 points to close at 422,532.67, the Main Index dived 5,742.57 points to 385,325.02, and the JSE Financial Index shed 1.79 points to settle at 98.30.
Trading ended with 44 securities changing hands, down from 49 on Monday and closed with prices of 14 stocks rising, 21 declining and nine remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio closed with an average of 16.4 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.

Gains for JSE Main Market

Trading activity jumped on Monday with 66 percent more shares crossing the market than on Friday, with the value just marginally up, when the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market closed.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index rose 399.84 points to 428,644.20, the Main Index advanced by 590.88 points to 391,067.59 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.10 points to settle at 100.09.
Trading ended with 49 securities changing hands, up from 45 on Friday and closed with 24 rising, 18 declining and seven remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio now averages 16.8 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 14,886,632 shares for $96,260,639 compared to 8,950,572 units at $95,033,632 on Friday. IC TOP10 stocks to drive JM over 2800

The Junior Market is expected to blast pass the 2,800 the index mark, this coming week, following positive results just released by Lasco Manufacturing, Lasco Distributors and Jamaican Teas, to help the market to continue the 2021 rise after reaching a new eleven-month high, on Friday.
The market index closed just under 2,800 points, on Friday with a 5.8 percent gain for the year to date.
The market should continue to benefit from strong interest in Caribbean Flavours, Mailpac that traded at a record high on Friday at $4.43 before closing at $3.99 and from Lumber Depot.
Lasco Manufacturing and Honey Bun keep changing places in IC TOP10 best performing Junior Market stocks. At the close of the previous week, Lasco Manufacturing replaced Honey Bun, but this past week, the roles are reversed with both companies seeing a reversal of fortune in prices.
Lasco Manufacturing closed at $4.32 up from $3.90 last week, while Honey Bun price fell from $6 to $5.88. In addition, Lasco earnings per share were adjusted down to 35 cents from 37 cents, with the company reporting nine months results showing revenues rising 6 percent but being up 3.5 percent for the December quarter and earnings per share moving to 25 cents from 19 cents in 2019. Lasco Distributors earnings were also adjusted down, with the release of the nine months results showing earnings per share of 21 cents and 7 cents for the December quarter, putting the full-year numbers at 30 cents per share.
The Main Market TOP10 stocks continue with the same stocks as the week before, but Grace Kennedy price continues upward as interest in the stock remains strong.
The Junior Market is up 5.8 percent for 2021 and is currently powered by a bullish golden cross, setting to take the market beyond 3,000 points and likely beyond 4,000. The release of company results in the next week will play a big role in the next few weeks that will add fuel to the current rally. In this regard, based on 2020 release of results, interim financials are expected this week, from Access Financial, Barita Investments, General Accident, Iron Rock Insurance, Lasco Financial, Fontana, Elite Diagnostics, Honey Bun, JMMB Group and RJR.
The current TOP 10 report is based on earnings for 2020/21 as there are substantial gains ahead, for many stocks in the listings.
The top three Junior Market stocks with the potential to gain between 208 and 373 percent are Caribbean Producers followed by Elite Diagnostic and Lasco Financial. With expected gains of 132 to 324 percent, the top three Main Market stocks are, Berger Paints followed by Scotia Group and Sygnus Credit Investments.

The PE ratio for the Junior Market Top 10 stocks average a mere 8.3 at just 55 percent of the market average. Main Market TOP 10 stocks trade at a PE of 9.1 or 48 percent of the PE of that market.
The average projected gain for the Junior Market IC TOP 10 stocks is 169 percent and 133 percent for the JSE Main Market, based on 2020-21 earnings. IC TOP10 stocks are likely to deliver the best returns up to March 2021 and ranked in order of potential gains, based on likely gain for each company, taking into account the earnings and PE ratios for the current fiscal year. Gains for JSE Main Market

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones almost two to one on a day of subdued trading on the Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange ended trading on Thursday with the market rising after an exchange of 26 percent more shares but at 14 percent lower value than on Wednesday.  
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 1,444.54 points to 427,013.70, the Main Index rose 1,182.10 points to 389,430.69, and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.45 points to settle at 99.24.
Trading ended with 44 securities changing hands, down from 47 on Wednesday and closed with 21 rising, 12 declining and 11 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio averaged 16.6 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with trading of 12,425,485 shares for $61,762,267 compared to 9,831,136 units at $72,026,838 on Wednesday. JSE Main Market falters

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended trading on Wednesday with the market declining after more stocks fell than rose as investors exchanged 51 percent fewer shares than on Tuesday.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index fell by 1,979.75 points to 425,569.16, the Main Index dropped 1,835.84 points to 388,248.59 and the JSE Financial Index dipped 0.54 points to 98.79.
Trading ended with 47 active securities, up from 45 on Tuesday and closed with prices of 16 stocks rising, 18 declining and 13 closing unchanged. The PE Ratio closed with an average of 16.7 based on ICInsider.com forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with trading of 9,831,136 shares for $72,026,838 compared to 19,931,036 units at $67,469,926 on Tuesday. Wigton Windfarm led trading with 22 percent of total volume, after exchanging 2.16 million shares followed by Pulse Investments with 18.9 percent for 1.86 million units. QWI Investments ended with 14.7 percent for 1.45 million units after trading at an intraday 52 weeks’ high of 99 cents and Transjamaican Highway with 11.8 percent of the day’s trade for 1.16 million units.

Big jump for JSE main Market

Trading ended with a robust rebound in the market indices on Tuesday after rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market, but the volume and values fell sharply from Monday’s levels by 48 and 75 percent respectively.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index jumped 4,248.43 points to 427,548.91 the Main Index climbed 3,864.20 points to 390,084.43 and the JSE Financial Index rose 0.84 points to settle at 99.33.
Trading ended with 45 securities changing hands, the same as on Monday and closed with prices of 21 stocks rising, 15 declining and nine remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio closed with an average of 16.6 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 19,931,036 shares for $67,469,926 compared to 38,526,662 units at $269,081,586 on Monday. Wigton Windfarm led trading with 56.5 percent of total volume, after an exchange of 11.26 million shares followed by Pulse Investments with 16.2 percent for 3.23 million units, Transjamaican Highway with 9.2 percent for 1.83 million units and QWI Investments with six percent market share for 1.20 million units changing hands.
Trading for the day averaged 442,912 units at $1,499,332 for each security, down from 856,148 shares at $5,979,591 on Monday. The month to date averaged 649,530 units at $3,739,461. Trading in January averaged 311,275 units at $1,432,133.

Mayberry Investments ended 30 cents higher at $5.60, with 39,592 stocks changing hands, Palace Amusement climbed $100 to close at $1,050 while exchanging 5 units, PanJam Investment rose $1 to $65 trading 1,219 stocks. Pulse Investments picked up 38 cents to end at $4.98, after an exchange of 3,233,145 shares, Salada Foods fell $1 to $37, with 48,187 shares changing hands, Scotia Group gained 78 cents to close at $43.78 in trading 7,334 stock units. Seprod jumped $6.52 to a record closing high of $70.52 after 3,980 shares crossed the market after trading at a record high of $83.99 earlier in the trading session and Supreme Ventures ended 30 cents lower at $16.70, in transferring 13,037 stocks.
In the preference segment, 138 Student Living Preference share shed 70 cents to close at $5.90, in switching ownership of 1,000 shares and Eppley 8.25% rose 90 cents to $7, after clearing the market with 371 units.
