Trading surges on Junior Market

Trading closed Tuesday, with the volume of stocks rising 141 percent and the value surging 125 percent over Monday’s trades on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange and leading to 39 securities trading compared to 42 on Monday and ended with 19 rising, 14 declining and six remained unchanged after two stocks closed at 52 weeks’ highs.
At the close, the Junior Market Index popped 3.07 points to 3,338.44, after moving as high as just over 3,398 points at the opening of the market. The PE Ratio used to compute the relative value of a stock averages 13 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of earnings for 2021-22 .

Trading ended with 16,279,953 shares changing hands for $44,882,928 compared to 7,252,436 units at $18,627,901 on Monday.
Derrimon Trading was the volume leader accounting for 63.2 percent, after trading 10.30 million shares, followed by Future Energy Source 7.2 percent with 1.17 million units and Jamaican Teas 6.4 percent, with 1.04 million units.
Trading averaged 417,435 units at $1,150,844 up from 172,677 at $443,521 on Monday. Trading month to date, averages 228,139 units at $648,542, compared to 218,269 units at $622,258 on Monday. May closed with an average of 318,089 units at $760,337.

Dolphin Cove dropped 40 cents to $8 after 1,215 units crossed the market, Elite Diagnostic slipped 15 cents to $3, trading 11,001 units, Express Catering dropped 25 cents to $6.10 in exchanging 154,986 shares. Fosrich spiked 41 cents to $8.41 after trading 1,406 units, Future Energy Source gained 17 cents in ending at a 52 weeks’ high of $1.34, with 1,165,828 shares crossing the exchange, General Accident surged 43 cents to $5.68 with an exchange of 2,785 shares. GWest Corporation gained 19 cents ending at a 52 weeks’ high of $1.04 in an exchange of 59,289 units after the company posted audited accounts showing a small profit but with a large portion of income coming from revaluation gains on the investment property. Honey Bun dropped 15 cents to $6.85 after 67,279 units crossed the exchange, Indies Pharma rallied 30 cents to $3.55 in switching ownership of 17,910 units, Jamaican Teas fell 35 cents to $4.05 in trading 1,035,902 units, Jetcon Corporation shed 6 cents to $1.29 trading 2,500 shares. KLE Group slipped 12 cents to $1.23, in an exchange of 78,285 units, Knutsford Express surged $1.71 to $8.75 after an exchange of 6,342 shares, Lasco Distributors dropped 16 cents to $3.95, trading 83,468 stock units, Lasco Financial dipped 9 cents to $3.24 after exchanging 54,873 stock units. Mailpac Group rose 5 cents to $3.90 with the swapping of 609,404 stock units, Main Event rallied 23 cents to $5.43 in exchanging 33,206 stock units, SSL Venture dipped 5 cents to 60 cents with an exchange of 7,000 stock units and Stationery and Office Supplies rose 40 cents to $8 after an exchange of 600 stocks.

More Junior Market slippage on Monday

Investors pushed stocks trading in the early morning session of the Junior Market index up to 3,384.90 points shortly after the market opened, prices drifted down later in the day, sending the market into another day of mild decline with a minimal upward push of prices, but there was enough buying strength to push Future Energy Source and Jamaican Teas to news all-time highs during the day.

Fesco traded at a record high since listing earlier this year.

Market activity, ended with 42 securities trading, up from just 32 on Friday and ended with prices of 12 stocks rising, 24 declining and six closing unchanged. The Junior Market Index slipped 2.80 points to 3,335.37.

Market activity ended, with 7,252,436 shares changing hands at $18,627,901 compared to  6,426,251 units at $23,089,468 on Friday. Future Energy Source led trading with 42.6 percent of total volume, with 3.09 million shares and closed at a 52 weeks’ closing high of $1.17 after hitting a record high of $1.24 during the day. Jamaican Teas followed with 19.5 percent after trading 1.41 million units and Caribbean Flavours 5.7 percent, with an exchange of 409,950 units.
Trading averaged 172,677 shares at $443,521 versus 200,820 units at $721,546 on Friday. Month to date trading averaged 218,269 units at $622,258, compared to 220,981 units at $632,891 on Friday. May ended with an average of 318,089 units at $760,337.

Indecision for juniors

The trading week closed on Friday with the Junior Market unable to maintain the upward momentum on Thursday and the early morning session on Friday, with the index dipping 11.06 points to finish week at 3,338.17 as 32 percent fewer shares traded, with 43 percent less the value than on Thursday. 
Just 32 securities trading compared to 40 on Thursday, with the prices of 15 rising, 10 declining and seven closing unchanged.

Traders exchanged 6,426,251 shares for $23,089,468 down from 9,383,807 units at $40,616,428 on Thursday.
Jamaican Teas led trading with 18 percent of total volume for 1.16 million shares, followed by Future Energy Source 14.9 percent with 958,949 units and Lumber Depot 14.8 percent with 951,215 units.

Stocks enjoyed a bullish session on Thursday, with rising stocks dominating trading after an 88 percent increase the volume of stocks traded valued 182 percent more than on Wednesday at the close of the Junior Market activity.
Market activity led to 40 securities trading compared to 38 on Wednesday and ended with the prices of 21 stocks rising, 12 declining and seven closing unchanged.

The volume and value of stocks trading on Wednesday climbed 17 percent 6 percent respectively over Tuesday’s transactions at the close of the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange.
Market activity led to 38 securities trading compared to 40 on Tuesday and ended with 16 rising, 18 declining and four ending unchanged, resulting in the Market Index slipping 8.84 points to 3,327.71 for a second straight day of decline.

Trading closed on the Junior Market on Tuesday, with the market dropping even as the volume of stocks traded rose 25 percent and the value increased by 27 percent over Monday out turn.
Market activity led to 40 securities trading, up from 35 on Monday, with prices of 14 rising, 18 declining and eight ending unchanged.

Massive surge in Junior Market volume

The volume of stocks traded was heavy with a 663 percent surge on Friday, with a 448 percent greater value than on Thursday, resulting from 35 securities trading compared to 37 on Thursday, with 13 rising, 15 declining and seven closing unchanged on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange.
At the close, the Junior Market Index rose 12.12 points to settle at 3,367.03 to be up 39 points for the week as the market seems to be moving steadily away from the downward pull of resistance, just below 3,300. Junior Market recovers ground on Thursday

Stocks delivered another day of advance after regaining just under half the points lost yesterday on the for the Junior Market as trading came to an end on Thursday with prices of 13 stocks rising, 14 declining and 10 ending unchanged after 37 securities traded compared to 36 on Wednesday, after an exchange of 18 percent fewer stocks for 31 percent less the value than on Wednesday.
The Market Index added 15.14 points to close at 3,354.91 after moving up to 3,375.79 within six minutes of the opening.
The PE Ratio, a measure that determines an appropriate relative value of each stock, averaged  12.7 based on ICInsider.com’s 2021-22 earnings forecast.
Trading ended with 5,390,213 shares for $13,454,101 compared to 6,540,530 units at $19,468,768 on Wednesday.
Future Energy Source led trading with 36.9 percent of total volume, and 1.99 million shares, Tropical Battery followed with 11.6 percent or 627,308 units and Mailpac Group 9.6 percent, with an exchange of 518,163 units.

Pull back for Junior Market

The Junior Market broke its winning run on Wednesday, wiping out almost 73 percent of the gains made at the start of the week after falling stocks outgunned rising ones two to one leading the Market Index to snap 31.78 points to end at 3,339.77on a day when the level of trading was competitive with the previous day’s, at the close of trading on Wednesday.
Trading occurred in 36 securities down from 39 on Tuesday, with prices of nine stocks rising, 19 declining and eight unchanged.
At the close, the PE Ratio, a measure that determines an appropriate relative value of each stock, averaged 12.8 based on ICInsider.com’s 2021-22 earnings forecast.
Trading ended with 6,540,530 shares for $19,468,768 versus 6,376,210 units at $21,669,433 on Tuesday.
Future Energy Source led trading with 19.7 percent of total volume after exchanging 1.29 million shares, followed by Derrimon Trading, 15.6 percent with an exchange of 1.02 million units and Fontana with 12.7 percent accounting for 827,444 units.
Trading averaged 181,681 units at $540,799 in contrast to 163,493 at $555,626 on Tuesday. Month to date, trading averages 180,468 units at $573,202, compared to 180,362 units at $576,026 on Tuesday. May closed with an average of 318,089 units at $760,337.

Limners and Bards fell 15 cents to $3 with 239,291 units changing hands, Mailpac Group spiked 18 cents to $3.77 with 593,202 stocks traded, Main Event slipped 5 cents to $5.20 with investors switching ownership of 7,685 shares. SSL Venture rose 7 cents to 64 cents with a transfer of 11,998 units, Tropical Battery slipped 10 cents to $1.40 with 431,620 stocks changing hands and tTech shed 65 cents to close at $4.80 with 30,426 shares crossing the exchange.

Rally continues for Junior Market on Tuesday

Trading closed on the Junior Market on Tuesday with the index gaining more ground as it crossed the 3,400 mark for the first time since mid-December 2019, as investors exchanged 39 percent more shares, with a 70 percent increase in value than on Monday as the market continues to be breaking away from the resistance zone that held it back for weeks, with the sight now set on the 4,000 points mark.
Investors ended up trading 39 companies compared to 35 on Monday resulting in prices of 13 rising, 17 declining and nine closing unchanged and sent the prices of four stocks to 52 weeks high, with two of them closing at 52 weeks highs.
The Junior Market Index held on to a gain of 11.18 points to close at 3,371.55, the highest close since January 3 last year.

Investors traded 6,376,210 shares for $21,669,433 versus 4,578,291 units at $12,801,730 on Monday.
Indies Pharma was the volume leader with 23.9 percent for 1.52 million shares,  Future Energy Source followed. with 12.4 percent, with 791,819 units and Jetcon Corporation accounted for 8.3 percent, with an exchange of 526,581 shares.

Jamaican Teas picked up 8 cents to end at $4 with an exchange of 479,657 units, Jetcon Corporation fell 11 cents to $1.79 with 526,581 stocks passing through the market. Knutsford Express declined by 45 cents to $8 with 773 stock units traded, Lasco Distributors climbed 19 cents to $4 with a transfer of 140,313 shares, Lasco Financial lost 10 cents to end at $3.50 with an exchange of 76,876 stocks. Limners and Bards increased by 10 cents to finish at $3.15, with 198,295 units changing hands, Lumber Depot fell 12 cents to $3.33 with investors switching ownership of 87,864 shares, Main Event advanced 25 cents to $5.25 with 37,950 units traded after hitting an intraday 52 weeks’ high of $5.45.
