Trading activity slowed on Tuesday, resulting in a sharp drop in the market index on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, with the volume of stocks traded declining 13 percent, with an 8 percent lower value than on Monday. The dip in trading on Tuesday followed activity in 44 securities, similar to Monday and ended with prices of 11 rising, 22 declining and 11 closing unchanged.
The market closed with trading of 12,830,628 shares for $18,784,439, after sliding from 14,700,213 units at $20,457,438 on Monday.
Trading averaged 291,605 shares at $426,919, slipping from 334,096 stock units at $464,942 on Monday with the month to date, averaging 312,850 units at $445,930, up from an average of 280,479 shares at $401,436 in July.
Derrimon Trading led market activity with 4.74 million shares for 37 percent of total volume, followed by Atlantic Hardware with 1.17 million stocks for 9.1 percent of the day’s trade, Woodcats International closed with 1.15 million stock units for 8.9 percent of the volume traded and Stationery and Office Supplies with 1.12 million shares for 8.7 percent of market share.
At the close of trading, the Junior Market Index declined 51.40 points to finish at 2,886.41. The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows five stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and four with lower offers.
The Junior Market ended trading with an average PE Ratio of 11.3.

Dolla Financial rose 6 cents to $2.96 with investors trading 115,549 stock units, Dolphin Cove lost $2.02 in closing at $10.15 after an exchange of 12,530 shares, Express Catering shed 5 cents to settle at $1.95 with investors swapping 60,500 stock units. Fontana rallied 14 cents to $6.27 after trading of 50,545 units, Honey Bun declined 6 cents to end at $5.82 with an exchange of 3,192 stocks, Image Plus popped 5 cents in closing at $1.25 with 470,542 shares clearing the market. Iron Rock Insurance climbed 9 cents to $2.09 with investors dealing in 997,767 units, ISP Finance increased 80 cents to finish at $8.55 in an exchange of 3 stocks,
Knutsford Express skidded 50 cents to close at $6.60 with investors trading 7,130 stock units. Lasco Financial advanced 10 cents to $1.62 in switching ownership of 3,825 shares, Main Event dipped 17 cents to close at $4.50 after a transfer of 16,076 units, Medical Disposables fell 8 cents to finish at $1 as investors exchanged 164,207 stocks.
