On a day when rising stocks outnumbered decliners on the Jamaica Stock Exchange when trading ended on Wednesday, new 52 weeks highs were recorded by Jamaica Producers at $48 by gaining $1.50 and ISP Finance in the junior market. Overall, 32 securities changed hands on Wednesday as the prices of 14 stocks in the overall market rose, 10 declined, including 3 stocks rising and 5 declining, from the junior market. Stocks traded hit 10,935,542 units, valued at $64,376,818, in all market segments with the junior market accounting for 9,846,087 shares, valued at $46,610,748 of all trades.
The JSE Market Index gained 770.88 points to end at 159,719.08. The all Jamaica Composite Index climbed 862.14 points to close at 177,456.06 and the JSE combined index rose 622.59 points, to end at 171,033.62.
JSE sum 15-6-16 IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, in the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading showed 10 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 5 with lower offers.
At the end of market activities, Cable & Wireless lost 1 cent to close at $1.26 after trading 55,726 units, Caribbean Cement traded 50,925 shares and closed at $21. Carreras had 10,471 units trading, to close with a rise of 25 cents at $62.80. Trading place in 52,000 shares of 1834 Investments but the price slipped 2 cents to $1.20. Jamaica Broilers traded 44,400 units changing hands with a decline of 30 cents to close at $14.50. Jamaica Producers traded 3,569 shares and gained $1.50 to end at a 52 weeks’ closing high of $48, Jamaica Stock Exchange had 16,693 units changing hands but gained 2 cents to end at $20.02, JMMB Group rose 2 cents in trading 3,000 units to close at $9.82.JSE mm fn qts 15-6-16 National Commercial Bank traded 51,295 shares at $41.12 after shedding 40 cents, Pan Jamaican Investment Trust traded 43,090 shares to end at $27. Radio Jamaica closed trading with 3,000 shares with the price rising 23 cents to end at $1.75, Sagicor Group ended with 169,846 shares changing hands after gaining 30 cents to $23, Scotia Group dropped 59 cents to close at $31.41 with 98,123 units changing hands. Scotia Investments traded 133,125 shares to close at $26.10, Seprod traded 4,400 shares unchanged at $17, Sterling Investments traded 6,000 shares with a gain of $1.49 to close at $12.99 and JMMB Group 7.50% preference share ended with 331,396 units traded at $2.10.
