Fosrich pushes up Junior Market trading


Junior Market closed with a 243 percent jump in the volume of stocks traded on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Thursday, following an exchange in Fosrich that accounted for 55 percent of the day’s trade. The value of stocks changing hands rose by 216 percent over Wednesday, following activity in 42 securities compared with 40 on the prior day and ending with prices of 16 rising, 16 declining and 10 closing unchanged.

The market ended with trading of 4,913,360 shares for $12,236,802, jumping from 1,431,920 units at $3,870,592 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 116,985 shares at $291,352 compared with 35,798 stocks at $96,765 on Wednesday, with the month to date, averaging 71,141 units at $136,011, after rising from 65,271 stock units at $116,120 on the previous day and August ending, with an average of 236,241 shares at $494,923.
Fosrich led trading with 2.71 million shares for 55.1 percent of total volume, followed by Dolla Financial, with 639,384 stock units for 13 percent of the day’s trade and Fontana with 293,929 stocks for 6 percent of the volume traded.
At the close of trading, the Junior Market Index sank 16.89 points to settle at 3,389.45. The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows three stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and three with lower offers.
The Junior Market ended trading with an average PE Ratio of 12.5, based on last traded prices in conjunction with earnings projected by ICInsider.com for financial years ending around August 2026.
At the close of trading, AMG Packaging gained 13 cents to close at $2.55 after 1,791 shares were traded, Cargo Handlers lost 12 cents to close at $14.36, after 205 stock units were exchanged, Caribbean Assurance Brokers rose 10 cents to end at $2.10 with investors dealing in 1,650 shares. Caribbean Cream declined 11 cents in closing at $2.12 with traders switching ownership of 486 units, Consolidated Bakeries sank 10 cents and ended at $1.50 after an exchange of 2,435 stocks, Dolphin Cove advanced 22 cents to finish at $14.30 with investors trading 2,676 units. GWest Corporation lost 7 cents and ended at 76 cents with 8,154 shares crossing the market, Image Plus skidded 5 cents to 91 cents with traders dealing in 30,803 stocks, Indies Pharma fell 7 cents in closing at $3.01 as investors exchanged 232,992 stock units. Jamaican Teas shed 9 cents to finish at $2.25 with 10,968 shares changing hands, Jetcon Corporation popped 13 cents to close at $1.81 with investors trading 54,550 stock units, Mailpac Group rallied 10 cents to end at $2.59 after traders exchanged 76,496 stocks. Omni Industries dropped 5 cents in closing at 83 cents after trading 19,297 units and Spur Tree Spices slipped 5 cents to $1.10 in an exchange of 76,832 stocks.
