Rising volume falling prices

Market activity resulted in more stocks declining than rising at the end of trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Wednesday after an exchange of 149 percent more shares than on Tuesday and the value surging by 196 percent.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index dropped 2,513.76 points to 426,220.03, the Main Index lost 2,243.25 points to settle at 389,023.37 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.58 points to close at 101.34.
Trading ended with 45 securities changing hands compared to 43 on Tuesday and closed with the prices of 14 stocks rising, 16 declining and 15 remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio ended at 16.8 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Investors exchanged 18,734,982 shares for $302,910,320 compared to 7,525,461 units at $102,351,143 on Tuesday. Mayberry Jamaican Equities led trading with 53.4 percent of total volume, after an exchange of 10 million shares followed by Grace Kennedy with 16.7 percent for 3.14 million units, Transjamaican Highway with 5.6 percent for 1.05 million units and QWI Investments with 5.6 percent for 1.05 million units changing hands.
Trading for the day averaged 416,333 units at $6,731,340 for each security, compared to an average of 175,011 shares at $2,380,259 on Tuesday. Month to date averaged 312,683 units at $4,031,460 for each security, in contrast to 302,986 units at $3,778,872 to Tuesday. November averaged 623,120 units at $6,686,047.

At the close of the market, Grace Kennedy advanced by $2 to $65, with 3,135,643 shares changing hands, Jamaica Broilers gained 49 cents to end at $28.49 after exchanging 14,383 stock units, Jamaica Stock Exchange fell by $1.23 to $18.76, in trading 24,100 units. JMMB Group closed at $33, with a loss of $1.50 in exchanging 13,511 shares, Kingston Properties rose 40 cents to $7.25, after crossing the exchange with a mere 27 units, NCB Financial dropped $4.85 to $140.14, with investors switching ownership of 19,286 stocks. Pan Jam Investment settled at $66, after losing $1.99 after transferring 1,056 units, Seprod closed $1 higher at $67, with 4,452 stock units changing hands and Sygnus Credit Investments rose 38 cents to $16.58 trading 133,911 shares.

JSE Main Market climbs again

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended trading on Tuesday with gains after more stocks advanced than declined after trading accounted for 110 percent funds chasing stocks and driving the market indices higher by up to 2,000 points.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 2,008.23 points to 428,733.79, the Main Index advanced 1,833.71 points to 391,266.62 and the JSE Financial Index rose 0.41 points to 101.92.
Trading ended with 43 securities changing hands for a second consecutive day and with prices of 19 stocks rising, 14 declining and 10 remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio ended at 16.8 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Investors exchanged 7,525,461 shares for $102,351,143 up from 7,084,366 units at $48,587,272 on Monday. Transjamaican Highway led trading with 17.7 percent of total volume, trading 1.33 million shares, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 16.5 percent for 1.24 million units and QWI Investments with 12.1 percent for 908,796 units.
Trading for the day averaged 175,011 units at $2,380,259 for each security, compared to an average of 164,753 shares at $1,129,937 on Monday. Month to date trade averaged 302,986 units at $3,778,872, in contrast to 315,550 units at $3,916,179 on Monday. November averaged 623,120 units at $6,686,047.

Jamaica Broilers lost 32 cents to end at $28, in transferring 42,518 stock units, Jamaica Stock Exchange climbed $1.23 in closing at $19.99, with investors switching ownership of 77,977 shares, JMMB Group rose 50 cents to $34.50, after exchanging 218,767 shares. Kingston Properties shed 40 cents to end at $6.85, with investors swapping 400 units, Kingston Wharves closed at $47.15, with gains of 60 cents trading 5,116 units, Mayberry Investments rose 86 cents to $6.52, in an exchange of 30,960 stock units. MPC Caribbean Clean Energy advanced by $19.50 to $165 after transferring 704 units, Palace Amusement climbed $113 to end at $1,213, after an exchange of 34 units, PanJam Investment closed $5.99 higher at $67.99, with 13,695 units crossing the market. Pulse Investments gained 35 cents to end at $4.71, with 255,000 shares changing hands, Sagicor Group rose $1.49 to $48.50, trading 32,896 stock units, Sterling Investments gained 39 cents to settle at $3.05, in an exchange of 314,500 shares. Supreme Ventures finished at $18, with gains of 50 cents and 78,024 shares crossing the exchange, Sygnus Credit Investments gained 31 cents to end at $16.20, after 67,770 shares cleared the market.
In the preference segment, Eppley 8.75% preference share shed $1.33 to $7.52 and finishing with an exchange of 211 units.

Junior Market pulls back on Tuesday

The market index surged sharply on Monday, but the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange could not build on those gains in Tuesday activity and slipped 13.24 points to 2,578.31, with more stocks rising than falling as investors exchanged 74 percent fewer shares than on Monday.
Trading ended with 34 securities changing hands compared to 38 on Monday and concluded with the prices of 14 stocks rising, 11 declining and nine finishing unchanged. At the close, the average PE Ratio ended at 13.7 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with 3,559,517 shares trading for $10,255,036 compared to 13,471,646 units at $33,806,568 on Monday as Mailpac Group led trading with 26.4 percent of total volume for an exchange of 939,501 shares. Limners and Bards chipped in with 14.1 percent of the day’s trade resulting in a transfer of 501,415 units and Caribbean Flavours closed with 8.5 percent market share or 303,996 stocks.
Trading averaged 104,692 units at $301,619 in contrast to 354,517 at $889,647 on Monday. Trading month to date averaged 301,073 units at $692,446, compared to 320,769 units at $731,644 on Monday. November averaged 193,331 units at $566,885.

At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index lost 3,170.34 points to 426,725.56, the Main Index shed 2,802.34 points to 389,432.91 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.79 points to settle at 101.51.

Junior Market at 4 months high

The Junior Market closed on Monday with the best finish in four months after the market index climbed 40.76 points to 2,591.55, the highest level since August 14 when it closed at 2599.86 points. At just after midday, the index climbed as high as 2614.45 but eventually settled lower and bettering Friday’s close.

Jamaican Teas traded the most volume on Monday.

The market closed with investors trading 469 percent more shares than Friday leaving declining stocks to outnumber advancing ones, with 12 stocks rising, 14 declining and 12 ending with prices unchanged after 38 securities changed hands up from 34 on Friday and resulted in an exchange of 13,471,646 shares for $33,806,568 up from 2,367,751 units at $5,915,555 on Friday.
Jamaican Teas led trading with 43.2 percent of total volume trading 5.82 million shares, followed by Mailpac Group with 22.7 percent after an exchange of 3.05 million units and Fosrich with 21.2 percent market share for a transfer of 2.85 million units.
Trading averaged 354,517 units at $889,647, up from 69,640 at $173,987 on Friday. The month to date averaged 320,769 units at $731,644, up from 316,508 units at $711,697 on Friday. November closed with an average of 193,331 units at $566,885 trading.

Mailpac does it again

Mailpac Group remained the lead trade for a fourth consecutive day on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday, with the price closing an all-time high of $2.60 as the market ended with more stocks rising than falling after trading 42 percent fewer shares at a value that is 29 percent lower than on Thursday.

Mailpac dominated trading on Friday with 26% of the total volume of the market.

As was the case on Thursday trading ended with 34 securities changing hands with the prices of 18 stocks rising, 10 declining and six remaining unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index advanced by 9.32 points to settle at 2,550.79. The average PE Ratio ended at 13.7 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market indices recorded more gains on Friday to end with the highest reading for the week but more than 4,000 points lower than the close of the previous week after an exchange of 327 percent more shares and changed hands with an increase of 134 percent in values over Thursday.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index rose 1,581.20 points to 429,895.90, the Main Index advanced 1,446.63 points to 392,235.25 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.10 points to settle at 102.30.
Trading ended with 43 securities changing hands, down from 46 on Thursday, with the prices of 19 stocks rising, 12 declining and 12 remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio ended at 16.6 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Investors exchanged 22,148,337 shares, with a consideration of $106,842,072 compared to 5,190,810 units at $45,639,960 on Thursday. Mailpac led trading for a 3rd day

Mailpac Group led trading for the third consecutive day on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Thursday as the total volume and value of shares trading on the market declined 74 percent and 76 percent, respectively, from Wednesday’s levels.

Similar to Wednesday, trading ended with 34 securities changing hands and closed with the prices of 17 stocks rising, 10 declining and seven remaining unchanged.
The Junior Market Index rose 22.47 points to 2,541.47 and the average PE Ratio ended at 13.3 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Trading accounted for 4,116,831 shares at $8,351,601 down from 15,670,241 units at $34,936,702 on Wednesday. Mailpac Group led trading with 32.8 percent of total volume as 1.35 million shares changed hands, followed by Lumber Depot with 23.5 percent for 967,216 units following the release of good second-quarter results and Jamaican Teas with 19.3 percent market share for 795,272 units.

Jamaican Teas gained 8 cents to settle at $1.88, exchanging 795,272 shares, Jetcon Corporation rose 4 cents to 79 cents trading 12,429 stock units, Lasco Distributors closed 25 cents higher at $3.45, with an exchange of 10,000 units. Lasco Financial slipped 10 cents to close at $2.55 after 80,500 shares passed through the market, Lasco Manufacturing gained 16 cents in closing at $3.85, with investors swapping 18,615 stock units, Limners and Bards gained 10 cents to close at $2.70 trading 8,691 units. Lumber Depot closed at $1.36, with gains of 18 cents as investors swapped 967,216 shares, Mailpac Group added 10 cents in closing at $2.35 trading 1,348,067 shares, SSL Venture gained 10 cents to settle at 66 cents, in exchanging 100,000 shares. Stationery and Office Supplies shed 50 cents to $3.60 after transferring 9,460 units and Tropical Battery lost 6 cents to close at $1.13, exchanging 366,394 shares.
In the preference segment, CAC 2000, 9.5% preference share gained 17 cents to close at $1.14 with an exchange of 4,000 units.

JSE Main Market closes higher

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market indices regained momentum in trading on Thursday after an exchange of 23 percent more shares traded than on Wednesday but with more stocks falling than rising.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 4,980.27 points to 428,314.70, the Main Index climbed 4,490.67 points to 390,788.62 and the JSE Financial Index rose 2.00 points to settle at 102.20.
Trading ended with 46 securities changing hands compared to 44 on Wednesday and closed with the prices of 14 stocks rising, 18 declining and 14 remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio ended at 16.5 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Trading resulted in 5,190,810 shares changing hands for $45,639,960 compared to 4,210,405 units at $40,575,680 on Wednesday. Wigton Windfarm led trading with 29.3 percent of total volume, after exchanging 1.52 million shares followed by Transjamaican Highway with 11.5 percent for 595,299 units and Ciboney Group with 10.8 percent market share for 561,269 units after the stock traded at a 52 weeks’ high of 21 cents.
Trading for the day averaged 112,844 units at $992,173 for each security, compared to an average of 95,691 shares at $922,175 on Wednesday. The average month to date trade is 309,597 units at $4,431,412 for each security, in contrast to 339,174 units at $4,948,422 on Wednesday. November averaged 623,120 units at $6,686,047.

At the close of the market, Barita Investments fell by $1.50 to close at $85, with an exchange of 6,956 units, Caribbean Cement shed $1 to settle at $56, after clearing the market with 4,063 units. Eppley Caribbean Property Fund climbed $3 to end at $43.50, in exchanging 1,071 units, Grace Kennedy shed 96 cents to close at $63.03, with the changing of ownership of 31,199 shares, Jamaica Broilers lost 45 cents to close at $28 trading 18,187 stock units. Jamaica Producers declined $1.24 to $20.50, after exchanging 28,512 shares, Jamaica Stock Exchange gained 49 cents to $18.76, with investors swapping 6,700 units, Kingston Wharves advanced by $1.80 to $48.80, with 3,308 units crossing the exchange. Mayberry Investments ended at $6, with gains of 39 cents after exchanging 35,146 shares, Mayberry Jamaican Equities rose 97 cents to close at $8.19, after crossing the exchange with 10,500 units, NCB Financial dropped $1 to $146, in trading 58,216 shares. 138 Student Living gained 34 cents to end at $4.65, with 1,101 units trading, Palace Amusement dropped $100 in closing at $1,200, with 5 units passing through the market, Pan Jam Investment gained 39 cents to end at $64.39, with an exchange of 8,413 units. Sagicor Group fell by $2.49 to $47.01, with 32,983 shares crossing the exchange, Salada Foods shed 99 cents to close at $26.02 trading 500 units and Scotia Group declined by $2.59 to close at $41.41, in transferring 171,015 shares after the Group reported lower full-year profit than in 2019.

Stocks rose but market index plunges

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market indices plunged sharply lower for the second time since Monday even as more stocks rising than falling after against the backdrop of an 85 percent fall in the number of shares changing hands with a lower consideration than on Tuesday.
The All Jamaican Composite Index dropped 6,185.85 points to 423,334.43, the JSE Main Index declined by 5,597.74 points to 386,297.95 and the JSE Financial Index shed 2.47 points to settle at 100.20.
Trading ended with 44 securities changing hands compared to 46 on Tuesday and closed with the prices of 18 stocks rising, 15 declining and 11 remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio ended at 16.5 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Investors traded 4,210,405 shares for $40,575,680 compared to 28,767,472 units at $57,416,333 on Tuesday. Wigton Windfarm led trading with 20.8 percent of total volume after exchanging 874,540 shares, followed by Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 19.5 percent for 822,756 units and QWI Investments with 18.7 percent market share for 788,529 units.

Kingston Wharves gained 45 cents to end at $47, after exchanging 715 units, Mayberry Investments fell $1.14 to $5.61, in trading 152 units, Mayberry Jamaican Equities shed $1.01 in closing at $7.22, after an exchange of 5,000 units. NCB Financial Group rose $1.96 in closing at $147, in trading 32,220 stock units, Pan Jam Investment declined by $4 to $64, with 5,507 units changing hands, Portland JSX gained $1.48 to end at $8.48 in transferring 1,000 units. Sagicor Real Estate Fund rose $1.49 to $7.50 after crossing the exchange with 2,500 units, Scotia Group gained 88 cents to close at $44 trading 74,187 shares, Sterling Investments gained 47 cents to settle at $3, in crossing the market with 100,000 shares. Sygnus Credit Investments closed at $17.27, with gains of 70 cents, with 8,693 units changing hands and Wisynco Group lost 38 cents to end at $16.10 after investors swapped 22,510 stock units.
