More fall for Junior Market on Wednesday

Trading closed on Wednesday with the Junior Market index falling as the volume of stocks traded decreased by 16 percent and the value falling 26 percent from Tuesday levels as declining stocks clobbered those rising.
Market activity led to 34 securities trading compared to 37 on Tuesday and ended, with nine stocks rising, 23 declining and two closing unchanged. At the close, the Junior Market Index fell 22.01 points to settle at 3,347.07.
The PE Ratio, a measure used to compute an appropriate stock value, averages 13.2 based on ICInsider.com’s 2021-22 earnings forecast.
A total of 3,516,276 shares changed hands for $8,817,575 down from 4,167,111 units at $11,943,035 on Tuesday.
Future Energy Source led trading with 62 percent of total volume after exchanging 2.18 million shares, followed by Lumber Depot 14.8 percent, with 520,691 units and Tropical Battery 4.2 percent, with a transfer of 146,716 units.
Trading averaged 103,420 units at $259,340 in contrast to 112,625 shares at $322,785 on Tuesday. Month to date averages 158,552 units at $454,006, compared to 162,286 units at $467,191 on Tuesday. June closed with an average of 225,705 units at $644,459.

Stocks push lower in Junior Market

Trading closed on Tuesday ended with a sizable fall in the Junior Market Index of 37.32 points to 3,369.08, with the volume of stocks traded rising 43 percent and the value traded rising by 34 percent over Monday trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange.
A total of 37 securities traded, up from 33 on Monday and ending with 12 rising, 13 declining and 12 closing unchanged, while Paramount Trading closed at a 52 weeks’ low of $1.14.

Overall, a total of 4,167,111 shares traded for $11,943,035, up from 2,922,552 units at $8,935,750 on Monday.
Jamaican Teas led trading with 33.2 percent of total volume after an exchange of 1.38 million shares, followed by Future Energy Source 29.1 percent, with 1.21 million units and Lumber Depot 10.3 percent with an exchange of 428,347 units.
Trading averaged 112,625 units at $322,785 in contrast to 88,562 at $270,780 on Monday.

Main Market pull back

Rising stocks just edged out those declining on Tuesday, with the market indices declining for a second consecutive day, with the volume and value of shares traded climbed 219 percent and 273 percent, respectively compared to Monday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index fell 587.12 points to 453,898.22, the JSE Main Index shed 595.66 points to end at 416,337.09 and the JSE Financial Index slipped 0.30 points to 102.36.
Trading ended with 49 securities similar to Monday, with 20 stocks rising, 19 declining and 10 remaining unchanged, as Radio Jamaica closed trading at a 52 weeks’ high of $2 after hitting an intraday high of $2.10. Junior Market trading drops on Monday

The volume of stocks traded on Monday dropped 62 percent and valued 72 percent less than on Friday but closed, with declining stocks overwhelming those advancing more than two to one at the end of activity on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange.
At the close, 33 securities traded, down from 37 on Friday and ended with prices of eight rising, 19 declining and six closing firm.

Trading resulted in a total of  2,922,552 shares changing hands for $8,935,750 compared to 7,615,922 units at $31,395,162 on Friday.
Future Energy Source led trading with 27 percent of total volume, after an exchange of 788,482 shares, followed by Lumber Depot 15 percent with 437,520 units and Jamaican Teas with 14.7 percent after trading 429,310 units.

Stocks lose steam on Friday

Stocks lost steam after a strong gain on Thursday and ended, with declining stocks outran those gaining on a near 2 to 1 ratio on Friday, as 113 percent more shares were exchanged than on Thursday with a 200 percent greater value at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market.
Thirty seven (37) securities traded, up from 34 on Thursday and ending with 11 stocks rising, 19 declining and seven closing unchanged.
The Junior Market Index fell 21.17 points to 3,400.73. The PE Ratio a measure used to compute an appropriate stock value, averaged 13.1 based on ICInsider.com’s 2021-22 earnings forecast.
Overall, 7,615,922 shares traded for $31,395,162, up from 3,577,660 units at $10,453,518 on Thursday.
Caribbean Cream led trading, with 22.4 percent of total volume after trading 1.71 million shares,  Fontana followed with 1.29 million units for 16.9 percent,  Future Energy Source added 16.4 percent, with an exchange of 1.25 million units and Mailpac Group contributed 15 percent, with 1.15 million units changing hands.

Stocks suffered a pullback on Friday with an increase of 146 percent in the volume of shares trading as investors put down 23 percent more funds in exchanging the shares than on Thursday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market and ended with 48 securities trading, similar to Thursday, with 12 stocks rising, 22 declining and 14 remaining unchanged.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index fell 989.27 points to 458,112.26, the JSE Main Index shed 796.49 points to end at 420,071.66 and the JSE Financial Index dipped 0.30 points to 103.29.

Market activity ended on Thursday with reduced volume and value of shares compared to Wednesday, in 5 percent dip in volume, with 14 percent lower value leading to more stocks declining than rising, at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
The All Jamaican Composite Index declined 1,348.65 points to 459,101.53, the JSE Main Index fell 1,154.18 points to end at 420,868.15 and the JSE Financial Index slipped 0.32 points to 103.59.

The Junior Market jumped 45.32 points on Thursday to close at 3,421.90, the highest close since December 6, 2019 and is now within a 7 percent reach of the all-time high in 2019. The volume of stocks traded fell 76 percent from Wednesday’s level, with a value that is 61 percent less.
A total of 34 securities traded on Thursday, compared to 35 on Wednesday and ended, with 15 stocks rising, 11 declining and eight closing unchanged.

Lasco Manufacturing slipped 5 cents to $5.35 with an exchange of 7,146 shares, Lumber Depot gained 14 cents to finish at $3.50 with 1,360,707 units changing hands after the company released full year’s results with a big rise in profit. Main Event spiked 57 cents to $5.40 with a transfer of 4,266 stocks, Paramount Trading rose 9 cents to $1.25 with 2,500 shares passing through the market and Stationery and Office Supplies fell 30 cents to $7.60 with 3,569 shares changing hands.

Major stocks struggled on Wednesday

 

Stocks trading struggled to keep ahead of the opening levels on Wednesday and ended with 47 securities trading a decline from 49 on Tuesday after 16 stocks rose, 22 declined and nine remained unchanged, leaving the market with a modest rise, with the volume traded up 35 percent but with values down 43 percent compared to Tuesday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index advanced 1,181.64 points to 460,450.18, the JSE Main Index rose 759.06 points to end at 422,022.33 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.05 points to end at 103.91.

Trading averaged 160,142 units at $1,110,757, compared to 113,716 shares at $1,856,434 on Tuesday. Trading month to date averages 343,472 units at $30,518,104, in contrast to 362,662 units at $33,596,379 on Tuesday. June ended with an average of 249,610 units at $3,877,606.

Carreras lost 23 cents to close at $9.07 with an exchange of 402,107 stocks, Eppley shed 27 cents to settle at $43.63 in switching ownership of 2 units. First Rock Capital declined $1 to $14.50 with the swapping of 30,573 stocks, Grace Kennedy rose 73 cents to $99.01 after 16,832 shares crossed the exchange. Guardian Holdings jumped $24 to $674 in trading 382 units, Jamaica Broilers popped 33 cents to $36.33 with 44,887 stock units changing hands, Jamaica Producers rose 70 cents to $22.90 with 4,060 shares crossing the market. JMMB Group rallied 50 cents to end at $38.50 after an exchange of 169,493 stock units, Kingston Properties popped $2.24 to $10.25 in trading 97 units. Kingston Wharves rallied $2 to end at $50 after 10,960 stocks crossed the market, Mayberry Investments lost 36 cents to finish at $6.15 in switching ownership of 1,300 stock units, MPC Caribbean Clean Energy dived $17.35 to $117.20 with the swapping of 360 units. NCB Financial rose $1 to $140 in an exchange of 29,883 stock units, Palace Amusement dropped $60 to $1,190 in transferring 133 stocks, PanJam Investment rose $1.49 to $67.50 in exchanging 3,355 shares. Sagicor Group fell $2 to $53 in clearing the market of 118,645 stock units. Salada Foods shed 55 cents to close at $8.20 in an exchange of 46,065 stocks and Seprod fell $1.31 to $69.69 after trading 13,042 shares.
