Winners beat losers 2 to 1 on T&T Exchange


Fortunes were reversed on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Wednesday, compared to Tuesday, with a 2-to-1 advance-to-decline ratio, reversing Tuesday’s adverse outcome of twice the number of stocks declining as rising. The market closed with the volume of stocks traded declining 73 percent, and the value of trades sliding 33 percent compared with Tuesday, following trading in 19 securities, the same as Tuesday and ending with prices of six rising, three declining and 10 ending firm.

The market closed with trading of 56,999 shares for $1,053,242, after tumbling from 214,947 stock units at $1,574,412 on Tuesday.
An average of 3,000 shares were traded at $55,434, in dropping from 11,313 units at $82,864 on Tuesday, with trading for the month to date averaging 9,362 shares at $81,251, down from 10,174 units at $84,543 on the previous day and an average of 11,573 shares at $105,485 for July .
The Composite Index rose 0.58 points to1,008.61, the All T&T Index advanced 4.22 points to close at 1,438.36, the SME Index remained at 71.72 and the Cross-Listed Index lost 0.48 points to finish at 76.88.

At the close of trading, Agostini remained at $54.95 with a transfer of 18 stocks, Ansa McAl ended at $46.00 with trading of a mere3 shares, AS Bryden closed at $1.50 with 855 shares changing hands. First Citizens Group increased 55 cents to $39.55 with a transfer of 6,420 stocks, GraceKennedy dipped 15 cents to end at $3.75 after an exchange of 1,600 shares, Guardian Holdings ended at $16.25 with trading of 10,082 stocks. Guardian Media ended at 81 cents after an exchange of 1,075 stock units, JMMB Group ended at 84 cents with 1,650 stock units crossing the market, Massy Holdings lost 1 cent to close at $3.45 after a transfer of 7,095 shares. National Enterprises remained at $4.55 with 32 stock units crossing the exchange, National Flour Mills ended at $1.60 following trading of 291 stocks, One Caribbean Media remained at $1.68 after an exchange of 382 units. Point Lisas shed 10 cents in closing at $6.90 with investors trading 21 shares, Republic Financial climbed 1 cent to $110 with an exchange of 2,232 units, Scotiabank rose 59 cents to $45.49 with 2,623 stocks passing through the market. Trinidad & Tobago NGL rallied 13 cents to end at $10.49 as investors exchanged 22,195 stocks, Trinidad Cement rallied 7 cents to end at $1.80 in switching ownership of 5 shares, Unilever Caribbean ended at $14.75 after trading of 70 stocks and West Indian Tobacco ended at $4.20 with 350 units crossing the market.
