Declining stocks dominated trading on the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange on the first trading day of March, as rising stocks were hard to find on Monday.
Trading ended with two stocks closing at a 52 weeks’ high and one at a 52 weeks’ low as volume climbed above Friday’s levels.
The T&T Composite Index slipped 2.74 points to close at 1,513.46. The All T&T Index lost 5.25 points to end at 1,936.31, while the Cross Listed Index closed with a loss of 0.03 points to end at 147.72.
The market ended with 18 securities changing hands with the prices of three gaining, eight declining while seven remained unchanged.
Trading resulted in an exchange of 675,573 shares valued $8,580,075, compared to 2,170,370 shares valued $10,749,522, with 16 securities trading on Friday.
IC bid-offer Indicator| The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with the bids of three stocks higher than their last selling prices and three with lower offers.
Gains| Clico Investment rose 4 cents in trading 73,349 units at 52 weeks’ high of $28.60, NCB Financial rose by 10 cents after 218,998 shares crossed the exchange at $11.35 and LJ Williams B share, exchanged 3,375 units in adding 5 cents to end at a 52 weeks’ high of $1.65.
Losses| Angostura Holdings traded 3,917 shares and lost 1 cent to close at $16.35, Ansa Merchant Bank lost 88 cents in closing at $38 after 4,962 units changed hands, First Citizens Bank exchanged 10,842 stock units and lost 50 cents to settle at $50. Guardian Holdings traded 30,764 shares and lost 25 cents to end at $22.25, JMMB Group shed 2 cents to end at $2.68, with investors trading 255,000 stock units. National Flour transferred 3,342 shares and fell 4 cents to end at $1.45, Trinidad & Tobago NGL transferred 2,303 shares and fell 25 cents to close at $20.50 and West Indian Tobacco lost 45 cents and closed at $39 while trading 99 stock units.
Firm Trades| First Caribbean International Bank exchanged 380 units at $7.89, Grace Kennedy traded 46,719 units to close at $3.85, Point Lisas traded 760 shares at $3.75. Prestige Holdings exchanged 275 at $8.99, Scotiabank traded 14,785 units to end at $62.50, One Caribbean Media close at $7.75 while exchanging 1,100 shares and Republic Financial Holdings traded 4,603 shares at $145.01.
