The Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange ended trading on Monday, with the market declining after investors swapped 56 percent fewer shares than on Friday, resulting in an equal number of stocks rising and falling.
The market closed with fourteen securities trading with three stocks advancing, three declining and eight remaining unchanged. The volume of stocks passing through the market amounted to 38,763 shares valued at $1,040,330 compared to 87,618 shares for $1,437,480 on Friday from 10 securities.
The average trade on Monday amounted to 2,769 units at $74,309 versus an average of 8,762 stock units for $143,748 for each security. Trading for August closed with an average of 15,631 shares for $367,803.
The T&T Composite Index lost 0.84 points to 1,327.97. The All T&T Index shed 1.66 points to 1,798.99, while the Cross Listed Index remained at 115.76.
IC bid-offer Indicator│ The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with the bids of six stocks higher than its last selling price and four with lower offers.
Stocks rising│ First Citizens Bank closed 55 cents higher at $46.65, in trading 1,000 units, National Enterprises gained 5 cents to finish at $4.05, with 139 shares changing hands and Unilever Caribbean ended at $17, with gains of 3 cents. With a transfer of 1,000 units.
Stocks declining│ Clico Investments shed 49 cents, exchanging 3,702 stock units to settle at $25, Guardian Holdings ended 10 cents lower at $19.50, with 3,605 stock units crossing the market and West Indian Tobacco fell 99 cents to $36 trading 823 units.
Stocks trading firm│ Agostini’s exchanged 10 units at $24.70, Angostura Holdings traded 849 stock units at $17, Ansa McAL closed at $53, with 103 units crossing the market. First Caribbean International ended at $7.05, exchanging 6,776 stock units, Massy Holdings ended at $59 with a transfer of 267 units, National Flour Mills closed at $1.83 in trading 4,812 stock units. Scotiabank finished at $54.99, with 11,240 shares changing hands and Trinidad and Tobago NGL traded 4,437 stock units at $16.16.
