Market volume dropped 52 percent, with the value falling 83 percent and resulted in the market indices slipping modestly at the close of the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Thursday.
Trading closed with 13 active securities, up from eleven on Wednesday, ending with three stocks rising, four declining and six remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 81,012 shares for $1,372,046 compared to 168,535 shares valued $7,926,619 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 6,232 units at $105,542 versus an average of 15,321 units at $720,602 for each security on Wednesday. Month to date averaged 11,045 units at $279,648 compared to 12,833 units at $344,316 on Wednesday. Trading in December averaged 14,490 units at $237,988.
The T&T Composite Index shed 0.27 points to 1,321.37, the All T&T Index lost 0.14 points to 1,768.66, while the Cross Listed Index was down 0.05 points to close at 118.16.
The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator ended with the bids of three stocks higher than their last selling prices and four with lower offers.
Stocks rising│ Clico Investment Fund gained 20 cents to close at $25.45, trading 1,128 shares, Massy Holdings rose 19 cents to $60.99, in exchanging 560 units and Trinidad Cement added 10 cents, transferring 36,627 shares to finish at a 52 weeks’ high of $3.10.
Stocks declining│ Ansa Merchant Bank declined by $1 to $40, with 10 shares changing hands, Guardian Holdings ended at $20.90 with a loss of 10 cents trading 24 units, Guardian Media slipped 40 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ low of $3, with 591 stock units changing hands and JMMB Group lost 1 cent exchanging 2,135 stocks to settle at $1.94.
Stocks trading firm│ First Citizens Bank exchanged 600 shares at $42.73, National Enterprises closed at $3.15 after trading 610 units, National Flour transferred 6,218 stock units at $2.15. Point Lisas ended at $3.12, in exchanging 394 stocks, Republic Financial Holdings closed at $134.99, with trades of 272 units and West Indian Tobacco remained at $35, with 31,843 shares changing hands.
