Investors cut several prices in the junior market and laid the foundation for a sharp decline in the market index. At the close, the junior market was down 74.51 points to end at 2,280.76. The market closed with 17 securities trading, 4 of which advanced, 8 declined with 2 closing at new 52 weeks’ highs. A volume of 2,815,123 units changed hands, valued at $15,357,167.

JSE pulls back sharply in early trading

The stock market pulled back with the indices falling in junior and the main markets. Scotia Group traded at $31 compared to nearly $35 on which the main market indices JSE intra 14-01-16were based on Wednesday but the stock is up from the last traded price of $30.10 and Caribbean Cement closed down at $22 from $25.10 at yesterday’s close and Carreras fell $1 to trade at $59.
Sagicor Group traded a large amount of 5,000,160 units up to $24 but last traded at $23.01, Lasco Distributors traded 306,099 units at $8.50, Lasco Manufacturing had 218,219 trading at $5.15 and recently listed tTech has so far traded 226,147 shares at $5.49.
In trading 35 securities were active and accounted for 6,574,092 units changed hands after 90 minutes of the market’s opening with 13 stocks rising and 11 falling.
The all Jamaica Composite Index plunged 2,760.15 points to 175,952.24 the JSE Market Index tumbled 2,469.81 points to 158,377.63 the JSE combined index dropped 2,647.40 points to 169,292.43 and the junior market index fell 35.27 points to 2,320.00.

Junior index jumps sharply

Lasco Distributors shot up to $9 in early trading with 247,586 shares in spirited trading in the overall market with 22 securities accounting for 594,059 units.

The junior market jumped sharply by more than 151 points in the first 75 minutes of trading on Friday but the main market slipped as Scotia Group traded at $22.51 and Caribbean cement fell back to $22 from a closing price of $26.50 on Thursday.

Caribbean Cream traded 1,240,402 shares with a gain of 32 cents to $4.50 as the company released results of 33 cents per share for the nine months to November.
The all Jamaica Composite Index declined 832.08 points to 173,674.87 the JSE Market Index fell 744.55 points to 156,339.83 the JSE combined index 664.99 points to 166,166.41 and the junior market index jumped 151.35 points to 2,075.94.

The companies were enjoying the first day of trading following successful IPO offerings at $2.50 and $4.85 at the IPO stage. The junior market continued its bull run with a big 77.67 points move in the index to end at 1,924.59 for yet another new record close.

tTech gains 20% to trade at $3 as JSE moves higher

The junior market was joined by two new listings on Thursday, following the successful IPO of CAC 2000 and tTech shares bringing the total junior market listings to 29. tTech opened trading at $3 with 7,809 shares to gain 50 cents on the IPO price, trading in the stock was halted with the price having exceeded the 15 percent circuit breaker rule before it reopened after an hour. CAC 2000 traded 1,000 units at $4.94 to record an increase of 9 cents from the IPO price of $4.85.

The big trade of the day is Lasco Distributors with 274,787 shares as the price jumped 49 cents to a new high of $6.50 and Sagicor Group with 34,368 shares at a new 52 weeks’ of $22.50.
