The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market indices on Wednesday gave up much more than they gained on Tuesday, with losses exceeding 2.3 percent compared to more than 1.90 percent gained on Tuesday. The all Jamaica Composite and the JSE index dropped more than 1,000 points on Wednesday.
A total of 37 securities changed hands, in all market segments with 14 stocks rising while 16 declined. Trading amounted to 6,525,627 units valued at $85,157,957 changing hands, in all markets, the junior market accounting for 1,448,567 units valued at $4,853,764.
The JSE Market Index declined 1,043.10 points to end at 149,006.90, the all Jamaica Composite Index fell 1,166.58 points to 165,475 and the JSE combined index dropped 699.90 points, to close at 157,519.32.

At the end of market activities, Barita added 42 cents with just 3,000 units changing hands to end at $3.72, Berger Paints closed at $4 after trading 26,000 shares with a gain of 50 cents, Cable & Wireless rose by 2 cents to close at $1.28, in trading 40,000 units. Caribbean Cement fell $1.89 to close at $19.11 with 3,075,900 shares changing hands, Carreras ended trading with 18,790 shares, to close at $66, Ciboney traded 461,143 shares but shed 2 cents to end at 13 cents, Grace lost 42 cents to close at $81.10 with 142,927 shares trading. Jamaica Broilers had 30,865 units changing hands, to close with a loss of 80 cents at $13.70. Jamaica Producers ended at $32 while trading 105,600 shares, JMMB Group had 22,971 shares changing hands with a loss of 38 cents to end at $9.60, 
Margaritaville Turks traded 138,798 shares to close at 16.5 US cents after falling 97 cents, National Commercial Bank had 8,594 shares changing hands to close at $40. Pan Jamaican Investments traded 11,500 units at $90, Radio Jamaica rose 1 cents as 710,157 shares were traded to close at $1.15, Sagicor Group fell 50 cents in ending with 854 shares changing hands to close at $22.50. Scotia Group traded just 486 shares to close at $30.30 after falling 75 cents, Supreme Ventures rose 5 cents with 11,000 shares trading to end at $5.10, Proven Investmenst closed at 17 US cents while trading 108,862 shares, and the JMMB 7.50% preference share, traded 92,200 units with a loss of 1 cent at $1.05, a 52 weeks’ low.

Big jump for JSE main market – Monday
Scotia’s stock pushed up index sharply on Monday.
The JSE Market Index surged 3,048.66 points to end at 153,887.64, the all Jamaica Composite Index leapt 3,409.51 points to 170,934.35 and the JSE combined index jumped 3,047.08 points, to close at 161,977.99.

Mayberry Investments gained 40 cents to close at $4 with 31,000 units changing hands. National Commercial Bank declined 23 cents with 19,892 shares changing hands to close at $40.25. Radio Jamaica traded 5,250 shares to close with a loss of 3 cents at $1.14, Sagicor Group rose $1 in ending with 128,159 shares changing hands to close at $24, Scotia Group traded 243,952 shares to close at $30, but traded as high as $34. Sterling Investments fell 85 cents to a 52 weeks’ low of $12 with only 1,500 shares changing hands, Supreme Ventures lost 10 cents with 377,543 shares changing hands at $5, Proven Investments ordinary shares traded 400,00 units to end at 16 US cents and the JMMB 7.25% preference share, traded 296,482 units at $1.07.
JSE enjoys solid gains – Friday
Carib Cement jumped $3.90 to close at $23.40
on Friday.
Trading Friday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange saw a number of large volumes going through the market but with negligible impact on prices. A total of 41 securities changed hands, in all market segments with 14 stocks rising and 10 declining. Trading accounted for 6,587,288 units valued at $120,406,344 changing hands in all markets with the junior market accounting for 430,780 units valued at $1,515,398.
The JSE Market Index gained 627.74 points to end at 150,211.24, the all Jamaica Composite Index rose 702.06 points to 167,524.84 and the JSE combined index gained 868.01 points, to close at 158,930.91.

Caribbean Cement jumped $3.90 to close at $23.40 with 3,282 shares changing hands, Carreras fell 50 cents to end trading with 4,715 shares, to close at $65.50, Jamaica Producers traded a large volume, with 2,139,600 units changing hands, up from 1,500,000 units on Thursday, the price climbed $1, to close at $33 on Friday. JMMB Group had 13,805 shares changing hands with a rise of 14 cents to end at $9.89, 
Kingston Wharves traded 14,595 shares at $11.50. Mayberry Investments lost 40 cents to close at $3.60 with 17,795 units changing hands. National Commercial Bank rose 28 cents with 163,716 shares changing hands to close at $40.48. Radio Jamaica traded 303,827 shares to close with a gain of 4 cents at $1.17, Sagicor Group shed $1 in ending with 1,156,805 shares changing hands to close at $23, this after 1,238,798 units were traded on Thursday. Scotia Group traded 303,949 shares to close at $30, Supreme Ventures had 91,289 shares changing hands at $5.10, Proven Investments ordinary shares traded 107,662 units to end at 16 US cents and the Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% preference share, traded 1,331,340 units at $2.15.
JSE rose with volumes up – Thursday

The JSE Market Index gained 860.66 points to end at 150,211.24, the all Jamaica Composite Index rose 962.52 points to 166,822.78 and the JSE combined index rose 849.82 points, to close at 158,062.90.

National Commercial Bank rose 19 cents with 159,786 shares changing hands to close at $40.20. Radio Jamaica traded 155,185 shares to close with a loss of 2 cents at $1.13, Sagicor Group gained $1 in ending with 1,238,798 shares changing hands at $24. Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 1,451,906 units but lost 10 cents to end at $10, Scotia Group traded 26,915 shares to close at $30, Supreme Ventures lost 40 cents with a large block of 10,035,300 units changing hands at $5.10, Proven Investments ordinary shares traded 93,053 units to end at 16 US cents and the JMMB Group 7.50% preference share traded 119,440 units at $1.07.
Volumes climb early Thursday
Large trades in Supreme Ventures falling by 49 cents with 10,031,100 changing hands at $5.01, Sagicor Group with 1,218,818 shares at $24 after rising by $1 and Sagicor Real Estate Fund covering 1,300,894 units at $9.60 while losing 40 cents, dominated trading on Jamaica Stock Exchange in the early morning session on Thursday.
Trading saw all major indices rising after 75 minutes of trading on Thursday with an average of 398,593 per active stock traded, up from an average of 251,635 units traded in the mid-morning session on Wednesday.
The market saw the all Jamaica Composite Index rising 508.80 points to 166,369.06, the JSE Market Index climbing 454.95 points to 149,805.53 the JSE combined index ending with a gain of 490.18 points to 157,703.26 and the junior market index increasing by 6.64 points to 1,827.13.
A total of 33 securities compared to 20 on Wednesday, accounting for 13,153,558 shares changed hands at 10.45 am as 8 stocks gained and 9 declined.
JSE Majors down again on Wednesday
The main indices of the Jamaica Stock Exchange fell again on Wednesday with 40 securities changing hands, in all market segments and ended with 13 stocks rising and 20 declining. Trading accounted for 7,303,091 units valued at $119,963,779 changing hands in all markets with the junior market accounting for 898,831 units valued at $4,498,985 changing hands.
The JSE Market Index suffered a loss of 587.05 points to end at 149,350.58, the all Jamaica Composite Index fell 656.54 points to 165,860.26 and the JSE combined index declined 530.26 points, to close at 157,213.08.

Jamaica Stock Exchange traded 13,110 shares but lost 50 cents to end at $19, JMMB Group had 10,352 shares changing hands at $9.75 after easing by 25 cents, National Commercial Bank fell by 4 cents with 1,817,770 shares changing hands to close at $40.01. Pan Jamaican Investment traded 17,626 shares to close at $90, Sagicor Group ended with 13,200 shares changing hands at $23. Scotia Group traded 8,700 shares to close with a gain of 50 cent at $30, Supreme Ventures gained 50 cents to close at $5.50 with 30,000 units changing hands, Proven Investments ordinary shares traded 62,418 units to end at 16 US cents and the JMMB Group 7.50% preference share fell 13 cents in trading 1,611,098 units at $1.07.
JSE majors dived sharply – Tuesday
Scotia Group fell $3.40 to help inflict much damage to the JSE on Tuesday.
Trading accounted for 8,660,890 units valued at $141,376,836 changing hands in all markets with the junior market accounting for 1,258,428 units valued at $7,440,298 changing hands.
The JSE Market Index suffered a sharp loss of 2,997.40 points to end at 149,937.63, the all Jamaica Composite Index nosedived 3,352.19 points to 166,516.80 and the JSE combined index fell sharply by 2,832.52 points, to close at 157,743.34.

Pan Jamaican Investment traded only 265 shares but fell by $3 to $90, Pulse Investments gained 20 cents to close at $3.19 with 64,000 shares changing hands. Radio Jamaica traded just 251,538 shares to close at $1.15, Sagicor Group fell $1 and ended with 47,465 shares changing hands at $23. Scotia Group traded 73,300 shares to close at $29.50 after declining $3.40, Seprod jumped $1.25 to $17.25 with 32,500 shares trading, Supreme Ventures gained 5 cents to close at $5 with 31,275 units changing hands, Proven Investments ordinary shares traded 93,200 units to end at 16 US cents and the JMMB Group 7.50% preference share traded 487,151 units at $1.20.

Prices on the Jamaica Stock Exchange were mixed on Monday but with more gains than losses. On Monday 37 securities changed hands, in all market segments and ended with 12 stocks rising and 6 declining.
The market closed with 4,039,547 units valued at $84,778,917 changing hands in all markets. The junior market accounted for 1,018,853 units valued at $4,061,844 changing hands.
The JSE Market Index suffered a mild loss of 55.30 points to end at 152,935.03, the all Jamaica Composite Index fell 61.84 points to end at 169,868.99 and the JSE combined index gained 49.20 points, to close at 160,575.86.

Scotia Group traded 10,448 shares to close at $32.90 after rising $2.90, Supreme Ventures slipped 5 cents to close at $4.95 with 45,179 units changing hands, Proven Investments ordinary shares traded 179,009 units to end at 16 US cents. Juniors up majors down early Monday
Trading the Jamaican Stock Exchange is off to a slow start with the main market indices falling while the juniors was up slightly after 75 minutes of trading on Monday. An average of 27,944 per active stock traded, up from an average of 1.4 million units traded in the mid-morning session on Friday. The average on Friday was pushed up by a 43.6 million units of RJR.
A total of 24 securities, accounting for only 670,666 shares changed hands at 10.45 am as 7 stocks gained and 3 declined, reversing the negative trend in place for a few trading days. The only trade of note has been Scotia Group with 2,441 units trading at $32.99 compared with the last price on Friday, of $30 and Cable & Wireless trading 22,817 shares, with a 8 cents gain, taking the price to $1.09 but now has a bid at $1.12 to buy 150,000 units, a total of 964,692 units were offered for sale at $1.20.
Supreme Ventures has 10,053,513 units on offer at $5 but with the bid at $4.86 for 1,601 shares.
The market saw all Jamaica Composite Index fell 249.28 points to 169,681.55, the JSE Market Index dipped 222.90 points to 152,767.43 the JSE combined index ending with a fall of 148.98 points to 160,377.68 and the junior market index moved up by 5.63 points to 1,820.00.
RJR enjoys big trade on JSE – Friday
RJR had another big trade on Friday.
The market closed with 51,448,945 units valued at $171,764,929 changing hands in all markets. The junior market accounted for 470,000 units valued at $1,549,597 changing hands.
The JSE Market Index took a sharp upturn with a 3,192.15 points rally to end at 152,990.33, the all Jamaica Composite Index jumped 3,570.00 points to end at 169,930.83 and the JSE combined index shot up 3,489.28 points, to close at 160,526.66.

Radio Jamaica with the largest trade for the day of 43,604,186 shares but lost 6 cents to close at $1.09, Sagicor Group rose 60 cents and ended with 65,158 shares changing hands at $23.70. Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 5,000 shares to close at $10.02 Scotia Group traded 1,238,437 shares to close at $30 after falling by 50 cents, the stock traded as high as $34.90 ahead of the close. Seprod dropped back $3 to end at $16 with 19,314 shares changing hands, Supreme Ventures gained slipped 14 cents to close at $5 with 44,364 units changing hands, Proven Investments ordinary shares traded 553,800 units to end at 16 US cents, down from 17.50 cents previously. JMMB Group 7.50% preference share traded 868,551 units at $1.17 after shedding 3 cents and the Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% preference share traded 218,200 units at $2.15.
