More stocks fell than rose on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange at the close on Wednesday, but the market inked a modest gain with the index rising 10.22 points to settle at 2,588.53.
Trading ended with 37 securities changing hands, up from 34 on Tuesday and ended with prices of 11 stocks rising, 17 declining and nine remaining unchanged.
The average PE Ratio closed at 13.8 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The day ended with 3,383,825 shares trading for $8,437,647 compared to 3,559,517 units at $10,255,036 on Tuesday. Lumber Depot led trading with 24.9 percent of total volume or 843,478 shares, followed by Mailpac Group with 24.8 percent of the day’s trade with 839,236 units exchanged and Jamaican Teas with 13.7 percent market share for a transfer of 462,669 units.
Trading averaged 91,455 units at $228,045 compared to 104,692 at $301,619 on Tuesday. Trading month to date averaged 282,156 units at $650,536, compared to 301,073 units at $692,446 on Tuesday. November closed with an average of 193,331 units at $566,885.
