JSE main market rises on Tuesday

Trading closed on main market stocks of the Jamaica Stock Exchange with gains in the indices up to 1,000 points but with the stocks rising equalling those declining at on Tuesday.
The All Jamaica Composite Index advanced 1,030.80 points to close at 277,166.52, the JSE Market Index gained 939.17 points to 252,530.09 and the JSE US dollar market index declined 0.98 points to 177.52.
At the close of trading, 22 securities changed hands in the main market with 1 trading in the US dollar market, leading to 9 stocks advancing and 9 declining. The main market ended with 1,806,656 units valued at $31,094,257 changing hands compared to 2,163,104 units valued at $46,639,859 at the close on Monday. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for 104,517 units valued at US$24,043 bringing the total of all trades to J$34,171,703.

Supreme Ventures hits new high – Monday

Supreme Ventures closed at a new all-time high of $9.

Stocks rose modestly on the Jamaica Stock Exchange leading the market indices rising around 100 point continuing the much bigger rise on Friday even as Supreme Ventures closed at an all-time high of $9, after climbing 45 cents in trading 12,960 shares.
Investors were responding to strong increase in profit for the six months to June, moving from $649 million to $918 million.
The All Jamaica Composite Index advanced 101.60 points to close at 276,135.72, the JSE Market Index gained 92.57 points to 251,590.92 and the JSE US dollar market index declined 6.86 points to 178.50.
At the close of trading, 26 securities changed hands in the main market with 3 trading in the US dollar market, leading to 10 stocks advancing and 10 declining. The main market ended with 2,163,104 units valued at $46,639,859 changing hands compared to 7,943,772 units valued at $101,876,271 at the close on Friday. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for 6,508 units valued at US$1,904 bringing the total of all trades to J$46,883,517.

Big price gains in Scotia & NCB – Friday

NCB jumped $3.85 on Friday

A big $3.85 jump in the price of NCB and $2.99 for Scotia Group followed by $2 gain in Caribbean Cement and $2.05 for Grace Kennedy, pushed the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange sharply upwards on Friday.
At the close of trading, 27 securities changed hands in the main market with 2 trading in the US dollar market, leading to 10 stocks advancing and 10 declining. The All Jamaica Composite Index advanced 3,084.30 points to close at 276,034.12, the JSE Market Index climbed 2,810.15 points to 251,498.35 and the JSE US dollar market index gained 6.31 points to 185.36.
The main market ended with 7,943,772 units valued at $101,876,271 changing hands compared to 11,248,931 units valued at $225,049,422 at the close on Thursday. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for 118,113 units valued at US$28,984 bringing the total of all trades to J$105,586,231.

JSE in big drop as NCB slips $2.90 – Thursday

The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market dropped sharply at the close on Thursday with sizable declines in some big capitalization stocks. Advancing stocks dominated trading, with a 2 to 1 ratio but a drop of $2.90 in NCB shares hit the indices with a big drop.
Market indices ended with the All Jamaica Composite Index dropping 2,855.71 points to 272,949.82, the JSE Market Index shed 2,601.88 points to close at 248,688.20 and the JSE US dollar market index slipped 7.10 points to 179.05.

JSE main market jumps sharply – Tuesday

Main market stocks surge higher at the close of trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Tuesday even as declining stocks beat out advancing almost 3 to 1. Market activity took place from increased volumes as 30 securities changed hands up from 26 on Monday.
At the close of trading 2 securities were active in the US dollar market, 6 stocks advanced and 15 declined in both markets. The main market ended with 3,703,287 units valued at $102,098,446 changing hands compared to 6,318,090 units valued at $56,287,458 at the close on Monday. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for just 984 units valued at US$623, bringing the total of all trades to J$102,178,210.

Barita at record high on Monday

The main market stocks of the Jamaica Stock Exchange declined for the second consecutive day with moderate fall in the indices at the close on Monday. Barita Investments, the subject of a proposed takeover bid closed at a new all-time high of $10.80 at the close.
The All Jamaica Composite Index declined 515.97 points to close at 274,561.37, the JSE Market Index declined 470.10 points to 250,156.51 and the JSE US dollar market index lost 2.04 points to close at 186.22.

Investors pushed the Jamaica Stock Exchange indices up sharply to hit new record highs at the close on Tuessday. During the morning session, the All Jamaica Composite Index hit a new all-time high of 279,335.69, after surging a huge 6,471.87 points at 11:50 AM. 
The JSE Market Index jumped 5,896.61 points to a record 254,506.45 points. By the close gains eased with the market closing a bit lower but well above Friday’s close.
Trading ended with the All Jamaica Composite Index jumping 5,294.32 points to a record close of 278,158.14, the JSE Market Index leapt 4,823.73 points to 253,433.57 and the JSE US dollar market index gained 3.76 points to close at 192.60.
At the close of trading, 23 securities changed hands in the main market with 1 trading in the US dollar market, leading to 11 stocks advancing and 6 declining. The main market ended with 37,879 units valued at $30,837,797 changing hands compared to 2,489,517 units valued at $21,640,002 at the close on Friday. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for 404,258 units valued at US$99,647 bringing the total of all trades to J$83,856,037.

In market activity, Barita Investments traded 85 cents higher to close record high of $8.85 in exchanging 4,555 shares, Berger Paints closed at $18.55, with a loss of 45 cents trading 1,325 shares, Cable and Wireless added 10 cents to close at $1.15, with 25,100 shares changing hands, Caribbean Cement fell $1.80 to $28, exchanging 27,929 shares, Carreras dropped $4 lower to $105 with 69,288 shares, Grace Kennedy closed at $41 trading 78,696 shares. Jamaica Broilers gained 49 cents, closing at $18.49 with 100 units, Jamaica Producers traded 9,374 shares at $15.10, Jamaica Stock Exchange added 1 cent to end at $6.48 trading 61,767 shares, JMMB Group closed at $19.99, with 58,070 shares. Kingston Wharves closed at $29,after gaining $1.80 with 9,143 shares changing hands, NCB Financial Group traded $4.99 lower to $90, after exchanging 36,483 shares, PanJam Investment closed at $33 trading 47,000 shares, Proven Investments exchanged 139,570 shares at $25.01, Pulse Investments gained 45 cents to close at $1.95, with 76,936 shares, Radio Jamaica closed at $1.50, with gains of 9 cents exchanging 11,097 shares. Sagicor Group closed at $32 trading 31,475 shares, Sagicor Real Estate Fund gained 13 cents to close at $12.05, with 13,605 shares, Scotia Group closed at $44 with trades of 160,588 shares, Scotia Investments lost 12 cents , closing at $35 in exchanging 3,742 shares, Seprod closed at $32.55, with gains of $1.55 and 928 units changing hands, Supreme Ventures gained 15 cents, closing at $8 with 41,913 shares exchanged. Proven Investments US ordinary shares closed at 24 US cents, with trades of 404,258 units and JMMB 7.5% preference share rose 9 cents and closed at $1.99 with 410 units traded.

New record for the JSE on Wednesday

Carreras jumped $17.50 to $110 on Wednesdaay after the company indicated they are considering a stock split.

Trading on the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange saw increased number of securities changing hands including 6 preference stocks. The All Jamaica Composite Index surged 1,892.68 points to close at a new record of 268,601.52, the JSE Market Index jumped 1,724.45 points to a 4th consecutive record close, of 244,726.40.
The JSE US dollar market index rose 17.40 points to close at 201.17.

Record & more record for JSE on Monday

The JSE main market has broken through resistance at 265,000 on the AJI but new resistance is not far away – see black line in upper right.

It was another record close for the Jamaica Stock Exchange main market index, which was joined by the All Jamaican Composite index surpassing the previous high reached in mid-May. At the All Jamaica Composite Index climbed 1,531.90 points to close at 266,708.84, the JSE Market Index surged 1,395.73 points to 243,001.95 for a third consecutive days of record close.
The JSE US dollar market index lost 4.65 points to close at 183.77 with 1 stock trading in the US dollar market. The market closed out July with gains of more than 26 percent for the year to date.
At the close of trading, 24 securities changed hands in the main market leading to 14 stocks advancing and 8 declining. The main market ended with 24,165,397 units valued at $225,427,641 changing hands compared to 2,406,199 units valued at $41,645,948 at the close on Friday. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for 323,789 units valued at US$75,331 bringing the total of all trades to J$235,070,022.

Lumbering conglomerate Grace Kennedy, gained 75 cents to close at $41.75, with an exchange of 67,541 shares. Chicken processors Jamaica Broilers close down 49 cents to $19.01 while trading 214,505 shares, Jamaica Producers food processors and wharf operators, gained 94 cents and closed at $15.92 with 36,928 shares traded. Jamaica Stock Exchange gained 39 cents exchanging 32,036 shares to end at $6.39, JMMB Group traded $1.30 higher to $20.95, with 97,100 shares traded, Kingston Properties closed at $8 exchanging 2,200 shares, Kingston Wharves closed lower by $1.91 to $27.10, with 1,118 units switching owners. Mayberry Investments lost 2 cents to close at $4.60 trading 3,333 shares, NCB Financial Group traded $1 higher to a record close of $81, after exchanging 324,498 shares, 138 Student Living closed at $5.01, gaining 1 cent with 15,003,952 units having traded, PanJam Investment closed at $34 trading 111,124 shares, Pulse Investments gained 14 cents to close at $2.45, with an exchange of 7,425 shares, Radio Jamaica lost 4 cents, closing at $1.41 with 1,500 shares exchanged.
