Trading improving for Jamaica stocks

The Jamaica Stock Exchnage main market fell on Friday with improved trading.

Trading levels hit rock bottom on the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday May 19, when less than 1 million units valued at a mere $11.8 million traded has been rebounding with this Friday’s level being the highest since Thursday last week. On Friday the value of traded stocks almost doubled that of Thursday this week.
Trading improved on the Monday with $31 million of trades but fell back on Wednesday to $27 million and picked up to $37 million on Thursday before moving higher on Friday. Trading levels in the main market ended at 4,417,748 units valued at $73,092,399 compared to 1,392,798 units valued at $37,103,714 at the close on Thursday. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for 56,375 units valued at US$17,199.
The All Jamaica Composite Index declined 1,094.79 points to close at 257,288.98 the JSE Market Index fell 997.48 points to finish at 234,419.39 and the JSE US dollar market index lost 1.69 points to close at 215.59.
The main market ended trading with an average of 152,336 units valued at $2,520,428 per security traded, compared to an average of 53,569 units valued at $1,427,066 on Tuesday. The average volume and value for the month to date ended at 392,814 units with an average value of $5,480,092 compared with an average of 406,174 units and $5,644,518 on the previous trading day. The average volume and value for April ended at 382,748 units with an average value of $5,254,387.

Pulse & ISP exit TOP 10 with big gains

I$P Finance hits a new high of $35 on Wednesday up 1,650% since listing last year March.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange, two main markets hit new highs on several days over the past two weeks, with new records created during this past week as well. Both markets are trading close to recent resistance levels which could act as a short term restraint on upward movement.
With the average PE ratio of the markets trading around 13 based on 2017 estimated earnings and several stocks trading below, it just a matter of time for prices and the markets to move higher.
Recent market activity has been characterized by some sizable swings in prices for a number of stocks, these movements have pushed some stocks in and out of the top list. Most companies released results for the 2017 first quarter, in some cases IC Insider.com has revised the earnings based on the latest information contained in the results.
Earnings have been up graded for Caribbean Producers to 60 cents, for the 2018 fiscal year, based on the nine months’ performance to March, with the March quarter results pointing the way forward with an 8 percent increase in revenues and lower selling and administrative cost. In the main market, Berger Paints’ 2018 fiscal year earnings per share was up graded to $2, based on a strong finish to the 2017 results. Pulse Investments announcement of a 2 for 1 stock split to be considered by the board subject to approval at a meeting of shareholders, helped push the price up to $14.40 from $8.05 and out of the Top list after entering in November last year at $4. Jetcon Corporation entered at $6.09 on January 6 and is now at $15 and out of the top listing. Main Event entered at $2 and is now at $7.25 and ISP Finance entered at $8.50 and last traded at $28.
Recent TOP 10 listings remain just below the top spots with Access Financial, Jetcon, AMG Packaging, Dolphin Cove, Caribbean Cream and Blue Power sitting just below, with potential gains of more than 100 percent and in the main market, Grace Kennedy and Sagicor Group are just below the Top spots with good potential gains ahead.

Sagicor Group traded 2.2 million shares on Thursday & fell $3.49 in early trading.

Sagicor Group traded 2.275 million shares and fell $3.49 to $30.01 by mid-morning on Thursday and was the main contributor to the more than 3,600 points fall in the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed in the morning session. The price recovered to close back at the closing price of the previous day but the market closed with more losses with Mayberry Investments trading more than 10 million shares with a loss of 57 cents.

Jamaican stock in big mid-morning drop

Sagicor Group traded 2.2 million shares on Thursday but the price fell $3.49.

Prices mostly retreated in mid-morning trading on Thursday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange main and Junior Market in early trading on Thursday.
The main market all Jamaica Composite index dropped by 3,661.69 points, at 10:45 AM the index hit 260,586.44 points and the main market index dived 3,336.22 to 237,423.75, the composite index fell 3,614.82 points to 254295.16 and the junior market Index dived 50.59 points to trade at 3,318.39.
In the Junior Market, Blue Power climbed to $45 from $39 with 1,000 shares but ISP Finance fell back to $30 from $35 with 3,476 shares trading. Caribbean Producers traded 1,300,064 units at $3.85 while Jetcon Corporation traded 152,103 units at $15 and Paramount Trading had 219,523 units changing hands at $3.05.
In the main market, Berger fell to $20 from $23.50, Jamaica Broilers traded down to $18, while Sagicor Group traded 2,274,978 shares down to $30.01 from $33.50.

The main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange shot up more than 3,300 points in the morning session to an intraday high on with all Jamaica Composite index up by 3,327.59 points to a new record, at 10:45 AM the index hit 265,287.63 points. The market failed to hold on to such heady gains and fell back later to end at a record close.
At the close of the market the All Jamaica Composite Index advanced 1,511.90 points to record close of 263,471.94, the JSE Market Index gained 1,377.52 points to finish at record closing high of 240,052.78 and the JSE US dollar market index rose 0.45 points to close at 218.77.
Trading ended with 29 securities changing hands including 2 trading in the US dollar market. At the close, 10 stocks advanced and 7 declined.
Trading levels in the main market ended at 115,967,557 units valued at $1,350,559,147 compared to 4,670,861 units valued at $78,264,470 at the close on Monday. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for 19,645 units valued at US$5,789.
