JSE main market index jumps

JSE Main Market indices made gains on Monday on lower volumes and value compared to Friday but with stocks rising outnumbered by those falling.
At the close, JSE All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 3,136.96 points to close at 553,758.80, the JSE Market Index gained 2,789.32 points to 504161.80 and the JSE Financial Index added 0.94 points to close at 137.13.
The market closed with 38 securities changing hands in the main and US dollar markets with the prices of 12 gaining, 15 declining and 11 trading unchanged. Main market activity ended with 36 securities accounting for 13,987,345 units at $42,027,052, in contrast to 37,782,232 units valued at $133,425,390 on Friday from 40 securities.
Sagicor Select Funds dominated trading with 9.55 million shares for 68.5 percent of the day’s trade and Wigton Windfarm with 2.6 million shares and 19 percent of the overall volume and QWI Investments with 885,900 shares and 6 percent of the trades.
The market closed with an average of 388,537 units valued $1,167,418 for each security traded, in contrast to 944,556 units for an average of 3,335,635 on Friday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 388,537 units valued at $1,167,418 and previously, an average of 653,621 units valued at $8,699,916 for each security changing hands. Portland JSX fell 48 cents to end at $8.02, with 6,350 shares crossing the exchange, Sagicor Real Estate Fund lost 95 cents to close at $10.80, in transferring just 1,000 units, Scotia Group gained 98 cents to end at $54 while exchanging 51,012 shares. Seprod settled at $50.55, in losing 34 cents while trading 28,813 stock units, Stanley Motta lost $1 to close at $5.30, with 24,566 units changing hands, Supreme Ventures shed 99 cents to close at $25.01, in swapping 14,500 shares and Sygnus Credit Investments closed 64 cents lower at $23 in trading 3,135 units.
Trading in the US dollar market closed with 42,800 units valued at US$12,106, with the market index advancing 6.23 points to close at 213.44. Proven Investments closed at 32 US cents, after gaining 1.98 US cents trading 37,500 shares and Sterling Investments closed at 2 US cents with 3,500 units changing hands.

JSE main market up 32% in 2019

Main market stocks indices tumbled on Friday, the last trading day of the month even as more stocks recorded gains than losses but the market is still up 32 percent for the year to date.
At the close, JSE All Jamaican Composite Index declined 2,858.47 points to close at 550,616.84, the JSE Market Index dropped 2,590.18 points to 501,372.48 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.96 points to close at 136.19.
The market closed with 44 securities changing hands in the main and US dollar markets with 18 stocks advancing, 14 declining and 12 trading firm. Main market activity ended with 40 securities accounting for 37,782,232 units valued at $133,425,390, in contrast to 14,106,882 units valued at $179,446,025 on Thursday from 38 securities.
Sagicor Select Funds dominated trading with 17.7 million shares for 47 percent of the day’s trade, Wigton Windfarm with 12.2 million shares and 32 percent and QWI Investments with 4.5 million shares and 12 percent of the overall volume.
The market closed with an average of 944,556 units valued at an average of $3,335,635 for each security traded, in contrast to 371,234 units for an average of 4,722,264 on Thursday. Productive Business Solutions lost 1 US cent trading 2,125 units, ending the day at 59 US cents, Proven Investments closed at 30.02 US cents, after losing 1.98 US cents in trading 197,049 shares, Sygnus Credit Investments exchanged 69,704 shares at 14 US cents and Sterling Investments lost half a US cent to close at 2 US cents with 31,272 units changing hands.

JSE main market slips

Market activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange rebounded on Tuesday with all major indices slipping from the revised close on Tuesday.
The All Jamaican Composite Index declined 188.29 points to close at 551,914.19, while the JSE Index slid 126.26 points to 502,615.76 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.37 points to close at 136.29.
The market closed with 39 securities changing hands in the main and US dollar markets with 12 advancing, 16 declining and 11 trading firm. Main market activity ended with 37 securities accounting for 70,895,481 units valued at $2,991,514,213, in contrast to 23,890,869 units valued at $153,275,236 on Tuesday from 33 securities.
Jamaica Broilers dominated trading with 37.7 million shares for 53 percent of total volume, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 16.3 million units accounting for 23 percent of the day’s trade and NCB Financial Group with 7.5 million shares and 11 percent.
The market closed with an average of 1,916,094 units valued at an average of $80,851,735 for each security traded, in contrast to 723,966 units for an average of $4,644,704 on Tuesday. Market activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange rebounded on Tuesday with all primary indices enjoying robust gains with trading resulted in just less than half the value that traded on Monday.
At the close, the All Jamaican Composite Index advanced 5,093.96 points to close at 552,708.44, while the JSE Index gained 4,615.69 points to 503,291.09 and the JSE Financial Index added 1.83 points to close at 136.75.
The market closed with 34 securities changing hands in the main and US dollar markets with 14 advancing, 12 declining and 8 trading firm. JSE main market drop

The major indices on the Jamaica Stock Exchange lost more ground on Monday following Friday’s 5,000 points fall as trading resulted in lower volumes and higher value passing through the market, with investors having some new stock offers in which to invest.
At the close of trading, the All Jamaican Composite Index shedding 3,914.87 points to close at 547,614.48, while the JSE Index dropped 3,497.38 points to 498,675.40 and the JSE Financial Index lost 1.38 points to close at 134.92.
The market closed with 40 securities changing hands in the main and US dollar markets with 7 rising, 21 declining and 12 closing unchanged. Main market activity ended with 37 securities accounting for 26,997,864 units valued at $314,531,311 in contrast to 43,823,390 units for $226,040,673 on Friday, from 33 securities.
Sagicor Select Funds dominated trading with 12.4 million shares for 46 percent of total volume, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 7 million units accounting for 25.8 percent of the day’s trade and Jamaica Broilers with 2.3 million shares and 8.4 percent. QWI Investments traded 1.2 million shares and Sagicor Group 1 million units to be the other entities trading more than a million shares.

Kingston Wharves fell 50 cents to $60 with 2,974 units changing hands, Mayberry Investments lost $2 to close at $8, with 300,000 units traded, Mayberry Jamaican Equities ended the day’s trade at $11.25, after losing 75 cents with an exchange of 4,126 units. NCB Financial gained to close at $210 after trading 240,157 units, Sagicor Real Estate Fund added 50 cents to end at $11.30 with 35,054 shares crossed the exchange, Scotia Group declined 55 cents to end at $55, in trading 379,879 shares. Stanley Motta lost 55 cents to close at $5.45, with 2,000 shares crossing the exchange, Supreme Ventures ended at $26, falling 50 cents and trading 48.778 units, ending the day’s trade at $23 and Wisynco Group settled at $23 after falling 50 cents and previously trading as high as $26, early in the trading session with 616,356 shares changing hands. The increased interest comes as reports are that the company is enjoying strong sales in the final quarter of the year.
Trading in the US dollar market closed with 475,526 units valued at US$135,657, with the market declining 13.24 points to close at 208.70. Proven Investments gained 2.5 US cents to close at a 52 weeks’ closing high of 33 US cents after exchanging 445,794 units, Sterling Investments closed at 2.2 US cents after falling 0.2 US cents in trading 22,803 units and Sygnus Credit Investments closed at 14 US cents with 6,929 units changing hands.

Sizable gains for JSE main market

Market activity on the Junior Market resulted in the major indices recording more gains on Thursday and bringing the increase for the week to 11,719.17 points as the market continues to recover from its 42,772.34 fall from the peak in early August.
The market closed with the All Jamaican Composite Index climbing 2,648.71 points to 556,709.48, the JSE Index advancing 2,402.96 points to 506,866.54 and the JSE Financial Index posting 0.66 points to end at 137.80.
The market activity led to 38 securities changing hands in the main and US dollar markets with 14 advancing, 13 declining and 11 trading firm. Main market activity ended with 36 securities accounting for 24,330,188 units valued at $89,041,566 in contrast to 20,477,665 units valued at $53,408,633 on Wednesday from 33 securities.
Sagicor Select Funds dominated trading with 10.8 million shares for 44 percent of total volume, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 7.8 million units accounting for 32 percent of the day’s trade and QWI Investments with 4 million shares and 16 percent. 1834 Investments closed at a 52 weeks’ high of $1.25 after trading at $1.26 earlier, while Proven Investments US dollar listed stock traded at a 52 weeks’ high of 30.5 US cents.

Big jump in JSE main market index

The bounce in JSE main market continues and is poised to move higher.

Falling prices dominate JSE trading

Falling prices dominated trading on the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange slid on Tuesday, as trading volume fell significantly while the value of stocks traded, rose marginally, compared to Monday’s activity.
Trading closed with 33 securities changing hands in the main and US dollar markets with the prices of 9 advancing, 20 declining and 4 trading firm. Main market activity ended with 32 securities accounting for 8,271,382 units changing hands valued at $138,889,143, in contrast to 19,703,423 units valued at $146,119,200 on Monday from 38 securities.
At the close of trading, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index declined 2,084.95 points to close at 543,573.30, the JSE Index dipped 1,975.07 points to 494,964.14 and the JSE Financial Index slipped 0.81 points to close at 134.10.
Wigton Windfarm dominated trading with 2.3 million shares for 28 percent of total volume, followed by Sagicor Select Funds with 2.2 million units accounting for 26 percent of the day’s trade and PanJam Investment with 806,619 shares for 10 percent of the market’s trade.
Trading levels declined sharply to about a third of levels in October with an average of 258,481 units valued at an average of $4,340,286 for each security trading on Tuesday, in contrast to 518,511 units valued at an average of $3,845,242 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 361,874 units at $3,688,699 and previously, an average of 405,407 units valued at $3,414,347 for each security changing hands. Sagicor Real Estate Fund lost 50 cents, to settle at $11 swapping 17,900 shares, Salada Foods lost $2 exchanging 4,418 stock units to end at $30, Scotia Group dropped $2.88 trading 31,860 shares, to end at $56.11, Seprod added 40 cents to settle at $55 with 6,589 units traded. Supreme Ventures lost 99 cents to close at $25 with 18,415 shares changing hands, VM Investments fell 37 cents to $7.51 while exchanging 128,063 stock units and Wisynco Group slipped $1, in swapping 267,872 shares to close at $23.
Trading in the US dollar market ended with 7,000 units valued at US$980 with the market index remaining at 194.07 as Sygnus Credit Investments, the sole trade exchanged 7,000 units at 14 US cents.

Big gains for JSE main market

Proven Investments closed at a record high on the JSE main market.

Stocks continue to rebound on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Monday with a four-digit rise in the market index as trading volume rose 77 percent, with 39 securities traded with 15 advancing, 12 declining and 12 trading firm in the US dollar and main markets.
After falling moderately on Friday the market made strong gains on Monday as the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 2,578.73 points to close at 545,658.25, the JSE Index advanced 2,362.71 points to 496,939.21 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.50 points to close at 134.91.
Main market activity, closed with 38 securities trading, leading to 19,703,423 units valued at $146,119,200 crossing the exchange, in contrast to 11,107,535 units valued at $113,371,137 on Friday also with 38 securities trading.
Sagicor Select Funds dominated trading with 12.7 million shares for 64 percent of total volume, followed by Wisynco Group with 2.5 million units accounting for 13 percent of the day’s trade following the release of a 53 percent rise in September quarter profit and Wigton Windfarm with 2.24 million shares for 11 percent of the market’s trade. Also trading more than 1 million shares was QWI Investments with 1.1 million units. Proven Investments closed at a 52 weeks’ high while MPC Clean Energy hit a record high of $275 but close back at Fridays’ close of $260.
The market closed with an average of 518,511 units valued at an average of $3,845,242 for each security traded, in contrast to 292,304 units valued at an average of $2,983,451 on Friday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 405,407 units valued at $3,414,347 for each security changing hands. The market closed out October with an average of 957,488 units valued at $13,947,047 for each security traded.

Eppley climbed $1.50 to close at $16, in trading 500 shares, Jamaica Producers slid $2, ending at $22 with an exchange of 15,100 shares, Jamaica Stock Exchange gained 90 cents to close at $30, with 5,509 shares crossing the exchange. JMMB Group closed 70 cents lower at $42 after trading 16,521 shares, Kingston Wharves lost $1.40 to close at $60, with 1,400 shares changing hands, PanJam Investment closed at $97.50, after losing 50 cents with 140 shares traded, Portland JSX gained 50 cents, ending at $9 after swapping 200 units. Proven Investments jumped $2 in trading 621 shares to end at a 52 weeks’ high of $47, Pulse Investments lost 50 cents exchanging 52,397 shares and closed at $3.90, Seprod climbed $2.10 to $54.60 with 5,558 units traded and Wisynco Group added 50 cents, in swapping 2,511,617 shares to close at $24 following release of very positive quarterly results last week.
Trading in the US dollar market ended with 751,000 units valued US$196,441 with the market index losing 8.72 points to close at 194.07 as Proven Investments, the sole trade, lost 1 US cent to close at 26.01 US cents after slipping 1 cent.

Strong JSE month end rise

The main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange ended October on the up but is down a significant 23,316.22 points for the month and 7 percent below the peak reached in early August.  
At the close, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 3,949.97 points to close at 543,754.31, the JSE Index advanced 3,577.89 points to 495,187.93 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.33 points to close at 133.41.
Trading closed with 44 securities changing hands in the main and US dollar markets with 21 stocks advancing, 11 declining and 12 traded firm. Main market activity ended with 40 securities trading 38,125,741 units valued at $101,388,568, in contrast to 29,380,399 units valued at $238,224,184 on Tuesday with 38 securities trading.
Wigton Windfarm dominated trading with 30 million shares for 80 percent of total volume, followed by Sagicor Select Funds with 3.25 million units accounting for 9 percent of the day’s trade and Carreras with 1.2 million shares for 3 percent of the market’s trade.
The market closed with an average of 953,144 units valued at $2,534,714 for each security traded, in contrast to 773,168 units valued at an average of $6,269,057 on Tuesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 957,274 units valued at $13,330,997 and previously an average of 957,488 units valued at $13,947,047 for each security traded. The market closed out September with an average of 1,585,081 units valued at $14,071,562 for each security traded.

Jamaica Broilers closed 85 cents higher at $34 with 13,729 shares changing hands, Jamaica Stock Exchange rose 58 cents to $29.50 in trading of 104,408 shares, MPC Caribbean Clean Energy rose to another record high with a gain of $5 to close at $260, after trading of 500 shares. Investors in the stock were responding to the 3 for 1 rights issue scheduled for November at $140 per share. NCB Financial declined to $203, after losing $2 in exchanging 27,999 shares, 138 Student Living closed 50 cents higher to end at $4 with 100 shares changing hands, PanJam Investment closed at $100, after rising $2.05 with an exchange of 20,250 shares. Proven Investments traded 515 shares and jumped $5 to end at $45, Sagicor Real Estate Fund rose 29 cents to $11.89 with an exchange of 30,100 shares, Salada Foods added 30 cents to settle at $29.30 after 2,832 shares crossed the exchange. Scotia Group gained $1.70 to close at $55 as investors swapped 22,215 shares, Seprod jumped $2.32 to close at $54, trading 47,960 units, Stanley Motta closed at $5.74 with a rise of 34 cents, after exchanging 46,937 shares. Sygnus Credit Investments closed 24 cents lower to end at $21.26 after trading 54,201 shares and Wisynco Group rose $1 exchanging 1,044,580 shares to close at $22 before the company reported a 53 percent rise in profit for the September quarter.
Trading in the US dollar market ended with 26,512 units valued at US$6,713 with the market index rising 9.18 points to close at 202.56. Productive Business Solution increased 2.5 cents and completed trading at 60 US cents exchanging 6,800 shares, Proven Investments lost 0.9 US cent trading 7,692 units to close at 27 US cents, Sterling Investments lost half a cent and closed at 2.2 cents US after trading 10,000 shares and Sygnus Credit Investments exchanged 2,020 shares to end at 14 US cents.
