First Citizens off Buy Rated list

First Citizens Bank is now off the Buy Rated list as the price has shot up to $33.45 in Wednesday’s trading. However, the stock remains on the Watch List as it is poised to go higher with good bids to buy 1.2 million shares and none on offer at the close.

From here on, the stock becomes one that is more for the long term gains as the PE ratio has risen to 22.3 times this year’s earnings, just a fraction below Scotiabank and well above Republic’s 15 times PE. The price of the stock would have to retreat quite a bit in valuation for it to get back into the Buy Rated list.

Not much has changed elsewhere in the market except that Trinidad Cement and Guardian Holdings seems to have bottomed and are slowly recovering.

TTSE: PE ratio not much change

Friday, 13th September | There’s not much change to the PE Ratios for stocks on the Trinidad Stock Market as prices changes have remained muted for much of the past week. There are signs that with the allocation of the First Citizens Bank shares, funds may have been freed up for trading in other stocks.

On Monday, First Citizens is expected to commence trading and that is likely to make an immediate difference to the PE for that stock. There are others that appear ready to move in the days ahead. Trinidad Cement with the big pull back should attract some buying interest again.

We have removed National Enterprises from Finance and Banks to Conglomerates as the company is a holding company for a number of industrial enterprises in Trinidad.

T&T PEs: Better buys ahead

Friday, 6th September 2013 | The PE Ratio chart for stocks trading on the Trinidad stock market has two movements to note for the week just ended.

Trinidad Cement fell sharply during the week to below $2 but the stock has become a more attractive buy with a potential return of 567% versus 350% last week. However, based on the closing bids and offers this stock could drop some more before reversing the recent decline.

Guardian Holdings fell to $14 this week, moving the potential gain from 250% last week to 270% this week and remains an attractive buy. Elsewhere in the market, not much has changed from this past week as prices remained fairly stable.

TTSE: 3 major changes in PE rankings

There have been three major changes in the Trinidad stock market‘s PE Ratio chart due to price movements this week.

Trinidad Cement (TCL) gained 42 percent in the week and more than 200 percent since May. Questions may be asked as to how much further it can go but the PE ratio chart still has the TCL stock as the one with the greatest potential for growth in the market. It has more room to run before it is fully valued based on this year’s company profit performance so it’s still worth either buying or holding on to.

Neal and Massy has come down relatively sharply in price, as has Guardian Holdings. The declines have made them more attractive buys even though Guardian seem like it has further to fall before it bottoms.

TCL stock gains continue

Friday, 23rd August 2013 | Trinidad Cement continues on its merry march upwards on the Trinidad Stock market thus reducing the potential gains left in the stock. It was this week’s greatest mover, moving from a bid of $1.76 at the end of last week to a closing price of $2.05 this week for a gain of nearly 17 cents. With a potential gain of 544 percent left and the bid being firm at $2.05 with a fair volume, expect to see the stock price increase in the week ahead.

National Flour Mills and Guardian Holdings lost value thus increasing the potential gains in these stocks. Elsewhere values remained the same as at the start of the week. Angostura has a bid of $9.11 at the end of trading on Friday , which is above the last selling price, suggesting that it will trade higher in the week. Guardian Holdings looks as if it could decline some more before it starts to rise.

Based on PR ratios, the Top Four stocks with potential on the TTSe are Trinidad Cement, National Flour, Guardian Holdings and Berger TT.

TTSE: PE Ratio green lights TCL

When we highlighted the stocks with the best potential for gains in the Trinidad Stock Market for the week ending June 28th, Trinidad Cement showed a potential to gain 900% with a PE of 3.17. and a stock price of 95 cents.

Since then, the stock has appreciated to $1.76 at August 16th,reducing the potential gain to 650%. Since July 1st, the stock is up 85% from when it traded at 95 cents. No other stock has appreciated close to that of TCL and the potential gains remain the same as was projected last week. TCL looks as if it will continue to increase in price over the coming week as the bid at the close on Friday was a bit higher than the last selling price of the stock.

The PE Chart continues to reflect good buying opportunities for a number of the stocks apart from TCL.

TTSE: PE Ratio bargins abound

Friday, August 9th 2013 | There is not much change in the PE chart over the past week from the chart dated August 2nd, 2013 and investment bargins on the Trinidad Stock Exchange remain the same.

Top 4 stocks | Trinidad Cement Limited, which had a bid at the start of the week of $1.51 was well ahead of the actual price movement that ended the week at $1.51. The stock now has a bid of $1.54 but seems to be heading much higher as the PE is still so low with a huge potential upside.

National Flour, a company that has reported inconsistent results in the past, has room to grow based on profit numbers available. Guardian Holdings has never really garnered much following in the Twin Isle has lots of room to grow and Berger, which is on the mend should pick up interest in the future along with Neal & Massy, Citizens bank (after it lists), One Caribbean Media and Republic Bank.

TTSE: PE Ratios show bargains

Friday, August 2nd 2013 | There has not been much change in prices on the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange in the last week hence there is not much change in the potential gains for the stocks with the potentially greatest change.

Of note however, is the continued march of Trinidad Cement that is now selling at $1.51 and thus reduced the potential gain from 800 percent last week to a still very strong 600 percent this week. New results will be available for this stock this week, which is likely to give the stock even more kick.

Last week we added Berger Paints to the list, but the stock has no bids currently and for some time but there is a small amount on sale, the PE of this stock is very low and therefore the stock has much upside potential.

T&T PE chart show bargains

The stock market in Trinidad is not very active partly due to prices of many of the stocks that are too high for that market creating lack of liquidity. The PE chart shows that there are a number of undervalued stocks that investors can made good money from. Top amongst them is Trinidad Cement with a PE of just two even after the price is up nearly 40 percent since July. For the rest of the manufacturing sector, Unilever is at 22, West Indian Tobacco is at 27 but national Flour is at 6 and Berger at 7.

In the financial sector, BNS is selling at a price earnings ratio of 23 while Guardian Holdings is at 8, Republic Bank is at 15 and National Enterprises at 16. Conglomerates Neal and Massy is at 11 compared to Ansa Mcal at 17. In media, Guardian Media is at 22 but One Caribbean is only at 13.

The graphs below highlights the potential gains for those that appear to be undervalued.
