Junior Market tumbles on Wednesday

The market index rose to more than 2,556 points within an hour of trading on Wednesday but selling drove the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange down at the close, with the market index dropping nearly 100 points from the day’s peak to finish with a loss for the day of 70.49 points to settle at 2,459.43.
Trading ended with more stocks declining than rising after an exchange of 33 percent more shares than on Tuesday. The market closed with 38 securities changing hands compared to 33 on Tuesday and closed with the prices of 15 stocks rising, 17 declining and six remaining unchanged. The average PE Ratio ends at 12.5 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market saw an exchange of 7,027,159 shares for  $23,247,610 compared to 5,272,918 units at $15,658,293 on Tuesday.
Fosrich led trading with 34.2 percent of total volume with an exchange of 2.4 million shares, followed by  Jamaican Teas with 13.9 percent after a transfer of 976,355 units and Tropical Battery with 9.6 percent market share for 675,760 stock units.
Trading ended with an average of 184,925 units at $611,779 compared to 159,785 at $474,494 on Tuesday. The month to date average trade is 194,462 units at $568,878, compared to 195,107
units at $565,977 on Tuesday. October averaged trade was 230,868 units at $535,509.

Dolphin Cove advanced 18 cents trading 2,368 stocks to end at $5.68, Elite Diagnostic dropped 20 cents to $3.10 in transferring 29,120 shares, Everything Fresh declined by 10 cents to 63 cents, in switching ownership of 165,878 units. Express Catering shed 67 cents to settle at $3.31 with an exchange of 89,040 stocks, Fontana climbed 30 cents to end at $5.38 with 149,049 units changing hands, General Accident gained 10 cents to finish at $6.20 with 62,300 shares traded. GWest Corporation rose 11 cents to close at 76 cents with 34,793 stocks passing through the market, iCreate lost 3 cents to settle at 59 cents with a transfer of 59,812 units, Indies Pharma increased 7 cents to $2.50, trading 89,073 shares. Iron Rock Insurance dropped 20 cents to finish at $2.80 with 31,000 stocks changing hands, Jamaican Teas exchanged 976,355 shares and climbed 20 cents to close at $6.70, Jetcon Corporation slipped 1 cent to 83 cents with 170,553 units passing through the market. Knutsford Express rose 5 cents to $6.70 with 1,000 shares traded, Lasco Financial gained 4 cents to end at $2.64 with a transfer of 10,000 stocks, Lasco Manufacturing fell 35 cents to $3.50 with investors switching ownership of 511,000 units.

Lumber Depot increased 8 cents to $1.29 with an exchange of 22,500 stocks, Mailpac Group rose 2 cents to $2.18 with 325,265 units changing hands, Medical Disposables dropped 27 cents to $3.93 with 33,581 shares traded. Paramount Trading increased by 2 cents to $1.32 with 30,000 stocks passing through the market, SSL Venture fell 1 cent to 57 cents with a transfer of  6,800 units, Stationery and Office Supplies slipped 5 cents to $4.50 with investors switching ownership of 25,843 shares. Tropical Battery exchanged 675,760 units and declined by 7 cents to $1.12 and tTech gained 3 cents to finish at $4.90 with 2,665 stocks crossing the exchange.

Junior Market slips up

Early morning trading pushed the index above Monday’s close for the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market on Tuesday to 2,556.57, but the market failed to hold on to the gains and closed the day with a modest fall after more stocks declined than rose, with 12 percent fewer shares traded than Monday.
Trading ended with 33 securities changing hands compared to 37 on Monday and closed with the prices of 11 stocks rising, 14 declining and eight remaining unchanged. Dolphin Cove closed at a 52 weeks’ low of $5.50.
At the close, the Junior Market Index shed 11.88 points to settle at 2,529.92. The average PE Ratio ended at 12.6 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Trading ended with an exchange of 5,272,918 shares for $15,658,293 compared to 5,999,938 units at $21,980,840 on Monday. Lasco Financial led trading with 38.7 percent of total volume for 2.04 million shares, followed by Mailpac Group with 20.3 percent after an exchange of 1.07 million and Jamaican Teas with 9.1 percent market share for 482,354 units.

Modest gains for Junior Market – Monday

Rising stocks edged out declining ones in trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Monday, leading the market close with a moderate gain in the index, with 24 percent more shares exchanged than on Friday.
Trading ended with 37 companies changing hands compared to 31 on Friday and concluded with the prices of 17 stocks rising, prices of 16 falling and four with prices ending unchanged.
The Junior Market Index gained 4.51 points to settle at 2,541.80. The average PE Ratio ends at 12.9 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Traders exchanged 5,999,938 shares for $21,980,840 compared to 4,844,204 units at $20,370,620 on Friday.
Jamaican Teas led trading with 32 percent of total volume for 1.92 million shares, with continued increased interest in the stock, ahead of a three to one stock split that takes effect on Friday. Derrimon Trading ended with 19.2 percent of total volume, trading 1.15 million units and Mailpac Group ended with 8.9 percent exchanging of 531,308 units.

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Thursday, with the market just inching higher, as more stocks declined than rose and 85 percent fewer shares traded than on Wednesday when Lasco Manufacturing dominated trading with 88 percent of stocks traded.
Trading ended with 30 securities changing hands compared to 36 on Wednesday and ended with prices of 11 stocks rising, 13 declining and six with prices remaining unchanged.

Lasco Manufacturing dominated Junior Market trading on Wednesday.

Fresh from a sharp 41 percent jump in second-quarter profit, Lasco Manufacturing dominated trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Wednesday with almost 88 percent of the day’s volume leading to an exchange of 135 percent more shares worth 321 percent in value than on Tuesday.
Trading ended with 36 securities changing hands compared to 30 on Tuesday and closed with the prices of 16 stocks rising, 14 declining and six ending unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index lost 23.48 points to settle at 2,518.62. The average PE Ratio ended at 11.4 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 25,127,529 shares for $95,287,962 compared to 10,660,690 units at $22,630,394 on Tuesday. Lasco Manufacturing dominated trading with 87.8 percent of total volume for 22.07 million shares, followed by Mailpac Group with 3.1 percent accounting for 771,442 units and Jamaican Teas with 318,824 units for 1.3 percent market share.
Trading ended with an average of 697,987 units at $2,646,888 in contrast to 355,356 at $754,346 on Tuesday. The average trade month to date amounts to 232,182 units at $657,223, compared to 159,902 units at $348,482 on Tuesday. Trading in October resulted in an average of 230,868 units at $535,509.

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed higher on Friday, despite more stocks falling than rising as investors traded 80 percent more shares carrying 91 percent more value than on Thursday.
Trading ended with 35 securities changing hands, up from 34 on  Thursday and finished with 13 stocks rising, the prices of 15 declining and seven with prices remaining unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index carved out a gain of 29.75 points to settle at 2,539.03. The average PE Ratio ended at 11.4 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
Trading closed with 3,359,001 shares for $7,739,063 versus 1,860,954 units at $4,046,985 on Thursday. Mailpac Group led trading with 20.6 percent of total volume with a transfer of 690,324 shares, followed by Tropical Battery with 17.9 percent for 601,792 stock units and Limners and Bards with 11 percent market share for 369,298 units.
