Steady trading for Junior Market

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Thursday, with the market just inching higher, as more stocks declined than rose and 85 percent fewer shares traded than on Wednesday when Lasco Manufacturing dominated trading with 88 percent of stocks traded.
Trading ended with 30 securities changing hands compared to 36 on Wednesday and ended with prices of 11 stocks rising, 13 declining and six with prices remaining unchanged.
The Junior Market Index eked out a modest gain of 0.25 points to settle at 2,518.87. The average PE Ratio ended at 12.3 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with 3,786,740 shares trading for $10,471,683 compared to 25,127,529 units at $95,287,962 on Wednesday. Mailpac Group led trading with 22.4 percent of total volume with an exchange of 849,384 shares, followed by Lasco Manufacturing with 21.4 percent or 808,966 units and AMG Packaging ended with 14 percent after trading 530,434 shares.
Trading ended with an average of 126,225 units at $349,056 in contrast to 697,987 at $2,646,888 on Wednesday. The average trade for the month to date ended with 221,515 units at $626,199, compared to 232,182 units at $657,223 on Wednesday. Trading in October concluded with an average of 230,868units at $535,509.
At the end of trading, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading for the market shows nine stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and two with lower offers.
At the close of the market, Access Financial dropped 89 cents to finish at $19.11 with 16,000 shares changing hands, AMG Packaging traded 530,434 shares and gained 11 cents to end at $1.60, CAC 2000 shed $2.50 to settle at $8.50 with investors switching ownership of 28,182 stock units.  Caribbean Assurance Brokers gained 1 cent to end at $1.76 trading  71,961 stocks, Consolidated Bakeries lost 6 cents to finish at $1.39 with an exchange of 6,855 shares, Derrimon Trading added 16 cents to close at $2.47 with 47,639 stocks changing hands. Everything Fresh rose 1 cent to 78 cents with a transfer of 5,000 units, Express Catering slipped 1 cent, trading 1,000 shares to close at $3.75, Fontana gained 1 cent to finish at $4.97 with 7,862 units passing through the market. Fosrich dropped 21 cents to $3.68 with an exchange of 74,600 stocks, GWest Corporation increased 14 cents to settle at 89 cents with 15,000 shares changing hands, Honey Bun rose 1 cent to close at $4.85 with 25,967 stocks traded. iCreate gained 5 cents to finish at 70 cents with investors swapping 2,104 shares, Indies Pharma added 2 cents to end at $2.82 with 25,000 units changing hands, Jamaican Teas lost 5 cents to settle at $5.90 with 138,407 stocks passing through the market. Lasco Financial increased by 5 cents to close at $2.70 with 62,295 shares changing hands, Lasco Manufacturing traded 808,966 units and shed 15 cents to finish at $3.85, Limners and Bards fell 15 cents to end at $2.40 with 153,442 stock units traded. Lumber Depot settled 1 cent higher at $1.26 with a transfer of 164,077 units, Mailpac Group fell 1 cent to $2.20 after 849,384 shares passed through the market, Main Event dipped 1 cent to finish at $2.99 with 3,750 shares changing hands. Paramount Trading dropped 8 cents to end at $1.50 with investors switching ownership of 1,500 stock units, Tropical Battery declined 4 cents to $1.20 with 252,423 stock units traded and Ttech jumped 75 cents to close at $5.75 with 1,732 stocks crossing the exchange.
