Caribbean Producers trading 993,178 as high as $2.35, closed at $2.30 for a 10 cents decline, General Accident Insurance had 224,010 units changing hands at $1.71 for 1 cent gain, Lasco Distributors gained 3 cents in trading 14,800 and closed at $1.43 and Lasco Manufacturing had only 12,230 shares trading to end at $1.06.

Moderate trading

Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange has been very moderate after an hour of trading. Only 10 securities have traded so far with a total volume of 105,600 units.
Knutsford Express fresh from reporting a 92 percent increase in pretax profits for the February quarter and 45 percent for the nine months gained 40 cents in trading to $5.60, having traded 87,603 shares. Scotia Group slipped 50 cents to $22 with a small volume and National Commercial Bank traded at $25.27 off by 23 cents.
The JSE main market indices are down by less than 20 pints so far while the junior market is up 1.06 points to 733.24.

Activity Trading on the Junior Market closed with Paramount Trading closing with a gain of 44 cents or 16 percent as investors responded positively to the company’s strong increase in profits for the November quarter which were released prior to this week. Overall only 7 securities traded and ended with 738,464 units valued at $2,745,022 changing hands. The JSE Junior Market Index rose 3.55 points to close at 697.07, with the price 3 stocks advancing and no declining.
At the close of the market, there were 7 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices, no stock closed with the offer lower. Lasco Distributor up 30% in November

Junior market stocks gained 5 percent overall, for November, with Lasco Distributor moving up 30 percent to close at $1.50 as institutional buying, helped to push the price as the company enters new contracts that expand the product lines to be distributed as well as increased products form its sister company, Lasco Manufacturing. The manufacturing company stock rose 15 percent in the month as the second highest gain in the junior market. Buy Rated Knutsford Express grew 6 percent to end at $5.85 and Dolphin Cove another Buy Rated stock moved up 5 percent to end at $8.50.
Lasco Financial closed at 95 cent, for a 3 percent decline the same decline as General Accident in closing at $1.50. Jamaican Teas ended at $2.85, down 14 percent, the company reported lower profits for the fiscal year to September. Blue Power dropped to $6.05 or 22 percent but the bid climbed to $7 after the company reported profit that was just slightly lower than in the six months to October last year, by 7 percent, as it reported earnings of 91 cents per share, for the period.

Knutsford Express Services traded over 5 million shares at a new high of $5.85 on the Junior Market. Trading ended with 6,061,987 units valued at $30,930,731. The JSE Junior Market Index rose 12.60 points to close at 669.22, only 5 securities traded, with the price of 4 advancing.

The company will benefit from lower fuel prices with the fall in the price of oil on the world market. Lasco Distributors had dealing in 819,050 shares as the price ended 4 cents higher, to $1.36. Consolidated Bakeries with 37,000 shares trading, closed at 82 cents.

Eppley preference share closes over

The Eppley preference share issue, successfully raised the minimum capital sought by the company, the Jamaica Stock Exchange was informed. The preference share issue, maturing in 2019 in respect of 41,666,667 cumulative redeemable preference shares priced at J$6, closed as scheduled on Tuesday, 11 November 2013.
The issue was oversubscribed and the Company intends to exercise the right, to issue further preference shares, up to a total of 58,333,334 units. The basis of allotment will be announced today.
Trading in the Junior Market closed with activity in just 99,198 units, valued at $231,017. The JSE Junior Market Index declined 3.07 points to close at 662.69. Only 4 securities traded, with no stock advancing and 3 declining.
