6 circuit breaker hits on Junior Market

The major feature of trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Monday was the halt in trading of six stocks in the morning session within 90 minutes of opening.  The early circuit breakers are CAC 2000, Cargo Handlers and ISP Finance declined while Caribbean Cream and tTech rose but Stationery and Office Supplies joined the action late in the morning session to hit the circuit breaker at 52 weeks’ high of $21 just before midday, with just two units being exchanged.
Trading closed with the volume and value of stocks traded declining 40 percent and 37 percent respectively, compared to Friday, following trading in 47 securities compared with 41 on Friday and ended with 13 rising, 27 declining and seven unchanged.
Investors traded 9,341,590 shares for $20,596,072 compared to 15,463,887 units at $32,509,692 on Friday.
Trading averaged 198,757 shares at $438,214, compared to 377,168 shares at $792,919 on Friday, with the month to date averaging 199,484 units at $545,636 compared to 199,598 stock units at $562,522 on the previous trading day. May closed with an average of 239,954 units at $648,811.
Tropical Battery led trading with 5.19 million shares for 55.5 percent of total volume followed by Derrimon Trading with 1.13 million units for 12.1 percent of the day’s trade and Dolla Financial with 565,488 units for 6.1 percent market share.
At the close, the Junior Market Index dipped 3.64 points to close at 3,802.40.

Jamaican Teas declined 14 cents to $2.08 while exchanging 25,550 shares, JFP Ltd dipped 10 cents to end at $1.65 with 519 units clearing the market, KLE Group lost 19 cents and ended at $1.61 with investors trading 50 stocks, Lasco Distributors dropped 16 cents to close at $3.15 after an exchange of 30,878 stock units. Junior Market holds on to 3,800 handle

The volume of stocks traded jumped 141 percent on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday, with a 98 percent increase in the value compared to Thursday, following trading in 41 securities similar to trading on Thursday with the market ending with prices of 19 rising, 15 declining and seven closing unchanged.
Trading closed with an exchange of 15,463,887 shares for $32,509,692 compared with 6,422,074 units at $16,407,108 on Thursday.
Trading averaged 377,168 shares at $792,919 compared to 156,636 shares at $400,173 on Thursday, with a month to date, average of 199,598 units at $562,522 compared to 171,380 stock units at $525,908 on the previous day. May closed with an average of 239,954 units at $648,811.
EduFocal led trading with 10.04 million shares for 64.9 percent of total volume followed by JFP Ltd with 1.59 million units for 10.3 percent of the day’s trade and Fosrich with 905,139 units for 5.9 percent market share.
At the close, the Junior Market Index dipped 0.84 points to settle at 3,806.04, with the market closing above 3,800 points for a third day after trading opened at 3,854.64.

Junior Market closes flat as trading climbs

Trading closed on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Thursday, with the volume of stocks traded rising 39 percent and the value 51 percent more than on Wednesday with trading in 41 securities compared with 40 on Wednesday and ended with 15 rising, 18 declining and eight unchanged.
Investors traded 6,422,074 shares for $16,407,108, up from 4,624,570 units at $10,856,038 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 156,636 shares at $400,173, compared to 115,614 units at $271,401 on Wednesday and the month to date, an average of 171,380 units at $525,908 versus 174,165 stocks at $549,665 on the previous day. May closed with an average of 239,954 units at $648,811.
Fosrich led trading with 1.80 million shares for 28 percent of total volume, ONE on ONE Educational followed after trading 880,103 units for 13.7 percent of the day’s trade and Spur Tree Spices with 560,957 units for 8.7 percent market share.
At the close, the Junior Market Index dipped 1.81 points to finish at 3,806.88.

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Wednesday, with the market index adding to Tuesday’s gains and crossing over the 3,800 mark for the first time since the middle of March with the volume of stocks traded declining 9 percent with a 31 percent lower value than on Tuesday after trading took place in just 40 securities compared with 41 on Tuesday and ended with prices of 19 rising, 15 declining and six closing unchanged.
Investors traded 4,624,570 shares for $10,856,038 compared with 5,101,812 units at $15,733,543 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 115,614 shares at $271,401, down from 124,434 units at $383,745 on Tuesday with a month to date, an average of 174,165 units at $549,665 compared to 187,397 stock units at $612,549 on the previous day. May averaged 239,954 units at $648,811.
Fosrich led trading with 1.22 million shares for 26.4 percent of total volume followed by Dolla Financial with 609,509 units for 13.2 percent of the day’s trade and Derrimon Trading with 568,037 units for 12.3 percent market share.

Junior Market reclaims all of Monday’s loss

The Junior Market recovered all of Monday’s index loss on Tuesday at the close of trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Tuesday, after a 52 percent fall in the volume of stocks traded at a 65 percent lower value than on Monday after trading took place in 41 securities compared with 46 on Monday and ended with 16 rising, 16 declining and nine closing unchanged.
Investors traded 5,101,812 shares for $15,733,543 compared to 10,566,673 units at $45,598,816 on Monday.
Trading averaged 124,434 shares at $383,745 down from 229,710 shares at $991,279 on Monday with a month to date average of 187,397 units at $612,549 compared to 206,379 stock units at $681,527 on the previous day. May closed with an average of 239,954 units at $648,811.
Lasco Distributors led trading with 1.08 million shares for 21.1 percent of total volume followed by Fosrich with 640,636 units for 12.6 percent of the day’s trade and ending with Lasco Manufacturing trading 442,365 units for 8.7 percent market share.
At the close, the Junior Market Index rose 46.87 points to end at 3,791.44.

Sharp jump in Junior Market trading

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange fell on Monday, with Stationery and Office Supplies trading more than 1.5 million, with most of it overhanging the stock for months, while Dolla Financial swelled the volume with 1.45 million units and Fosrich chipped in with 1 million shares resulting in the overall volume rising 107 percent and the value jumping 251 percent over Friday after trading occurred in 46 securities compared with 45 on Friday and ended with prices of 19 rising, 21 declining and six closing unchanged.
Investors traded 10,566,673 shares for $45,598,816, up sharply from 5,098,602 units at $13,005,135 on Friday.
Trading averaged 229,710 shares at $991,279 compared to 113,302 shares at $289,003 on Friday, with the month to date, averaging 206,379 stock units at $681,527 up from 194,453 shares at $523,209 on the previous day. May closed with an average of 239,954 units at $648,811.
Stationery and Office Supplies led trading with 1.51 million shares for 14.3 percent of total volume, followed by Dolla Financial closed with 1.45 million units for 13.7 percent of the day’s trade and Fosrich ended with 1.02 million units for 9.7 percent of the day’s trade.

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange rose moderately Friday, against a backdrop of a 59 percent decline in the volume of stocks traded with a 62 percent lower value than on Thursday after investors traded in 45 securities as was the case 45 on Thursday as market activity ended with 18 rising, 17 declining and 10 closing unchanged.

Junior Market stumbles into June

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange stumbles into June on Thursday, following Wednesday’s rally to close out May positively, with the volume of stocks traded declining 27 percent and the value 43 percent lower than on Wednesday after trading occurred in 45 securities compared with 44 on Wednesday and ended with prices of 16 rising, 24 declining and five closing unchanged.
A total of 12,402,210 shares were traded for $34,083,670, down from 17,037,616 units at $59,386,219 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 275,605 shares at $757,415 compared with 387,219 shares at $1,349,687 previously. May closed with an average of 239,954 units at $648,811.
Fosrich led trading with 4.69 million shares for 37.8 percent of total volume followed by Spur Tree Spices ended with 1.64 million units for 13.2 percent of the day’s trade and Future Energy Source with 910,903 units for 7.3 percent market share.

Junior Market ends higher than April

Stocks closed higher on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange in trading on Wednesday, with the market squeezing a third consecutive day of gains and helping the market to close 1.26 percent higher than in April as investors traded 77 percent more shares valued at 135 percent more than on Tuesday with trading in 44 securities compared with 45 on Tuesday and ended with 24 rising, 15 declining and five closing unchanged.
Investors traded 17,037,616 shares for $59,386,219 up from 9,615,167 units at $25,289,603 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 387,219 shares at $1,349,687 compared with 213,670 shares at $561,991 on Tuesday with the month to date, averaging 239,954 units at $648,811 compared to 232,896 stock units at $615,218 on the previous day. April closed with an average of 266,661 units at $2,583,503.
Future Energy Source led trading with 5.02 million shares for 29.5 percent of total volume followed by Fosrich with 2.89 million units for 17 percent of the day’s trade, Indies Pharma with 1.85 million units for 10.9 percent market share and Jamaican Teas with 1.49 million units for 8.7 percent of total volume.

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Tuesday just managed to end above Monday’s close following a 12 percent decline in the volume of stocks traded with a moderately lower value than on Monday with trading in 45 securities compared with 46 on Monday and ended with 21 rising, 20 declining and four closing unchanged as one stock closed at a one year high and two at 52 weeks’ low.
Investors traded 9,615,167 shares for $25,289,603 versus 10,918,480 units at $26,373,173 on Monday.
