Access fall sinks Junior Market – Monday

Access Financial Services’ traded at a 52 weeks’ low of $34.85 on Monday.

Access Financial Services dropped $5.14 to help knock 50.49 points off the Market Index at the end of trading on Monday following an announcement of a proposal to sell 68.6 million shares owned by Proven Investments at $32 each.
The Junior Market fall pushed the index to close at 3,398.78 on Monday with 29 securities changing hands, resulting in the prices of 11 securities gaining, 14 declined and 4 remained unchanged.

Junior Market takes another hit

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Tuesday with a sharp drop in the market Index by 42.90 points to close at 3,448.34 as declining stocks edged out advancers by more than 2 to 1.

At the close of market activities, the prices of 7 securities advanced, 17 declined and 6 remained unchanged with 30 securities changing hands, compared to 29 on Monday and resulting in an exchange of 2,481,939 units valued at $10,695,407 compared to 1,582,639 units valued at $10,125,399 on Monday.
Some of the selling may be due to some investors seeking funds to buy into either the Barita Investments rights issue or the QWI Investments IPO. Both issues will close this week and help ease some selling pressure.

Junior Market suffers sharp drop – Wednesday

Prices declined across the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Wednesday with 31 securities changing hands and leading to the prices of 4 securities advancing, 20 falling and 7 remaining unchanged with the Junior Market Index diving 72.87 points to 3,441.82.
Investors exchanged 2,691,652 shares valued at $16,496,761.57 compared to 2,931,663 units valued at $14,603,294 trading from 29 securities on Tuesday.  The selloff in the market that comes with the release of the prospectus on Monday for the sale of shares in QWI Investments, is consistent with recent trends as some investors seek funds to invest new share issue.

Junior Market slips again – Tuesday

Jamaican Teas jumped to trade at an all-time high of $8 on Tuesday.

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Tuesday with 29 securities changing hands with an exchange of 2,931,663 units valued at $14,603,294 compared to 2,753,477 units for $12,406,027 from 30 securities on Monday.
At the close of market activities, the prices of 12 securities advanced, 13 declined and 4 remained unchanged with the Junior Market Index declining 6.22 points to close at 3,514.69.
Trading ended with an average of 101,092 units for an average of $503,562 in contrast to 91,783 units for an average of $413,534 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 2,255,004 units valued at $4,809,858 and previously 2,613,989 units valued at $5,527,574 for each security traded. In contrast, August ended with an average of 232,398 units valued at $1,072,851 for each traded security.

The company’s subsidiary, QWI Investments released the prospectus after closing on Monday and it provided information that shareholders of Jamaica Teas, are entitled to buy shares at a preferential price. Jetcon Corporation closed 9 cents higher at $2.19, with 75,062 stock units trading, Knutsford Express fell 50 cents in trading of 2,496 units at $11, Lasco Distributors ended with a loss of 1 cent at 3.34 with 149,874 stock units changing hands. Lasco Financial closed trading of 10,700 units and gained 29 cents to end at $5.01, Lasco Manufacturing ended trading with 137,702 shares, after rising 9 cents to end at $5.69, Main Event declined by 48 cents to settle at $6.52 after exchanging 1,122 units and Stationery and Office Supplies declined by 32 cents to settle at $12.51 trading 37,100 shares.
