Trading volume on the junior market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange which declined on Wednesday, fell again on Thursday. Volume traded dived 49 percent from Wednesday’s levels, ending with 880,474 units changing hands, while value traded, dropped 64 percent to $3,474,124 from $9,759,413, on Wednesday.
An average of 67,729 units with an average value of $267,240 traded, compared to 133,950 units with an average value of $750,724 on the preceding trading day. The average for the month to date, amounts to 146,208 units at $806,277.

Market activity resulted in advancing stocks being over powered by declining stocks 2 to 8, pushing the junior market index down by 28.61 points to 2,399.26 to be up 34 percent for the year to date.
At the close, 14 securities traded, down from 17 on Thursday but volume dropped 61 percent from Thursday’s levels, ending with 647,967 units changing hands, while value traded, declined 65 percent to $3,787,554 from $10,731,708, on Thursday.

At 10.45 am, a total of 22 securities traded, resulting in a volume of 1,599,416 shares changing hands carrying a value of $10,753,662, compared to 2,592,474 shares changing hands carrying a value of $31,641,641 on Tuesday.
The average number of shares traded amounts to 72,701 units compared to 92,588 on Tuesday. Market activity resulted in 6 stocks falling while the prices of 9 securities rose.
JMMB Group traded 56,992 units and lost $1.50 to trade at $13.50, Scotia Investments jumped to $34 from $30 while trading 26,000 units, Blue Power Group pulled back from $28 that it closed at on Tuesday to $23.50 on small volume and Lasco Financial Services dropped to $2.80 from $3.20.
Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% preference share had 355,130 units trading at $2.10, Caribbean Flavours & Fragrances traded 820,700 and rose to $8.60 from $8, Cable & Wireless traded 103,300 units at 98 cents.

During early trading, the junior market index jumped a robust 29.13 points to 2,472.28 but ended at 2,450.38 for a closing high, by climbing 7.23 points for an increase of 36.8 percent for 2016.

The insurance company enjoyed strong buying during the past week and could slip out in the coming week. Medical Disposables still has more room for growth with the company expanding its product range. Derrimon Trading moved up to third spot after the stock traded at $4 during the week but pulled back to $3.50 by the close. All that is reflected in the fact that the junior market is up 33 percent year to date, while the main market is up just 9 percent.
