Breakout for JSE Main Market

Another gallant run was the order of the day on Wednesday ended with the market pushing 3,627 points higher to 442,228.59 after nearly 90 minutes of trading rising after more stocks advanced than declined, with an exchange of 56 percent fewer shares, valued 47 percent less than on Tuesday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market as the market continues to break away from the triangular formation that constrained for some time.
The market continues to get support for the upward rise, from three technical indicators, with one of the most powerful that suggests big gains from the channel that it has been trading in for months. It has broken out of the range and is heading for a new one.
The All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 3,224.25 points to 441,825.55, the Main Index advanced 2,908.51 points to 402,466.56 and the JSE Financial Index added 0.62 points to end at 100.16.
Overall, 46 securities traded, down from 49 on Tuesday and with prices of 15 stocks rising, 14 declining and 17 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio, based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings, averages 16.
At the close, 7,818,411 shares trading for $43,587,684 compared to 17,602,037 units at $81,904,936 on Tuesday. Transjamaican Highway led trading with 26.2 percent for 2.05 million shares, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 24.1 percent for 1.88 million units and Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 16 percent for 1.25 million units.
Trading averaged 169,965 units at $947,558, compared to 359,225 shares at $1,671,529 on Tuesday. Month to date trading averages 238,879 units at $1,499,367, in contrast to 244,460 units at $1,544,056 on Tuesday. March averaged 354,304 units at $2,543,232.

The market closed with Mayberry Investments hitting an intraday 52 weeks’ low of $4.96 during trading, Stanley Motta traded at an intraday 52 weeks’ high of $6.40 and Seprod traded at an intraday 52 weeks’ high of $85.
At the close, Jamaica Stock Exchange gained 34 cents in closing at $17.60 with an exchange of 48,031 units, Kingston Wharves rose 78 cents to end at $43.79 after the transfer of 450 shares, Mayberry Investments slipped 25 cents in closing at $5.15 in the swapping of 31,520 stocks. Palace Amusement dropped $40 to finish at $850 with 291 shares clearing the market, PanJam Investment ended $1.95 higher at $63 with 24,598 stock units changing hands. Proven Investments lost 39 cents to settle at $37.11 in the trading of 18,182 stocks, Salada Foods rose 65 cents to end at $5.95 with the swapping of 65,978 shares, Scotia Group shed 37 cents ending at $41.62 in transferring 8,910 stock units and Supreme Ventures rose 29 cents to close at $16.14 after 41,765 units crossed the market.
In the preference segment, Eppley 8.25% advanced 13 cents to close at $6.25 with an exchange of 866 shares.

Another big breakout arrest

Another attempt for the stocks to break convincingly away from resistance level was tamed after 28 minutes of trading on Tuesday after a strong rise in the All Jamaican Composite Index markets index by 6,446 points to hit 443,393.70.

The AJI market Index held on to 1,653.81 points to close at 438,601.30, the JSE Main Index advanced 1,494.18 points to 399,558.05 and the JSE Financial Index slipped 0.06 points to 99.54 as the market ended with an exchange of 133 percent more shares than on Monday.
Trading ended with 49 securities, down from 51 on Monday with 17 rising, 19 declining and 13 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio, based on ICInsider.com forecast of 2021-22 earnings, averages 15.9.
Overall, 17,602,037 shares traded for $81,904,936 compared to 7,546,049 units at $75,677,429 on Monday. Wigton Windfarm led trading with 39.7 percent of total volume for an exchange of 6.99 million shares, followed by Sagicor Select Manufacturing & Distribution Fund with 17.5 percent for 3.08 million units, Transjamaican Highway with 14.9 percent for 2.62 million units and Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 9 percent after trading 1.60 million units.
Trading averaged 359,225 units at $1,671,530, compared to 147,962 shares at $1,483,871 on Monday. Month to date trading averages 244,460 units at $1,544,056 in contrast to 232,625 units at $1,532,021 on Monday. March averaged 354,304 units at $2,543,232.

At the close, Barita Investments shed 50 cents in closing at $85.80 trading 23,626 shares, Berger Paints finished 35 cents lower at $11.70 in the trading of 31,767 stocks. Caribbean Cement rose $1 to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $75 with an exchange of 42,032 units, Jamaica Producers gained 40 cents to close at $28 in the swapping of 29,010 stock units, Kingston Wharves declined by 78 cents to settle at $43.01 in the transfer of 226 stocks. MPC Caribbean Clean Energy lost 45 cents to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $127.55 in switching ownership of 9,974 units, NCB Financial rose $1.50 to $140 in an exchange of 14,704 stocks, 138 Student Living fell 20 cents to $5.50 with 791 stock units changing hands, Palace Amusement climbed $40 to end at $890 with the swapping of 259 shares. Pan Jam Investment shed $2.55 to finish at $61.05 in the exchange of 26,728 stock units, Proven Investments slid 50 cents to $37.50 in the trading of 18,300 units, Sagicor Group fell 49 cents to $50 with 16,629 shares changing hands, Scotia Group gained 34 cents to end at $41.99 in the transfer of 37,458 stock units, Seprod advanced $1.08 to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $84 with the swapping of 127,859 shares, Stanley Motta rose 61 cents to finish at $5.91 after an exchange of 25,420 stock units. Attempted breakout thwarted

Investors pushed the market sharply higher in early trading on Monday, to the highest level in just a few days over a year ago as the All Jamaica Composite Index hit 441,056.72, after rising 4,461 points after 80 minutes of the market opening. Buying pressure eased thereafter, with the market only adding a few hundred points at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Monday.
The All Jamaican Composite Index increased 351.51 points to 436,947.49, the JSE Main Index carved out a gain of 316.37 points to close at 398,063.87 and the JSE Financial Index advanced 0.16 points to 99.60.
Trading ended with 51 securities, up from 47 on Friday and closed with 19 stocks rising, that includes Jamaica Producers and Seprod that closed trading at 52 weeks’ high. Prices of 16 stocks declined and 16 remained unchanged. The PE Ratio, based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings, averages 15.6.
The volume of shares traded fell 51 percent, with the values dipping 15 percent from Friday as 7,546,049 shares traded for $75,677,429 down from 15,472,941 units at $89,310,861 on Friday. Transjamaican Highway led trading with 46.2 percent of total volume for 3.49 million shares, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 17.6 percent for 1.33 million units and Caribbean Cement with 6.8 percent for 513,466 units changing hands.
Trading ended averaging 147,962 units at $1,483,871, compared to 329,212 shares at $1,900,231 on Friday. Month to date trading averages 2323,625 units at $1,532,021, in contrast to 242,960 units at $1,537,268 on Friday. March averaged 354,304 units at $2,543,232.

At the close, Barita Investments advanced $1.20 to $86.30 in switching ownership of 2,702 units, Caribbean Cement rose $1 to $74 in an exchange of 513,466 shares, Eppley climbed $6.77 to $34.77 with the swapping of 45,285 units, Jamaica Producers closed $2.60 higher at a 52 weeks’ high of $27.60 with the trading of 4,876 stocks. Jamaica Stock Exchange slipped 35 cents in ending at $17.25 in an exchange of 15,021 units, Mayberry Investments rose 27 cents to $5.42 with the transfer of 2,000 stocks. 138 Student Living gained 20 cents to end at $5.70 with an exchange of 36 stock units, Palace Amusement climbed $41 to close at $850 in the swapping of 46 stock units, Pan Jam Investment rose $1.60 to close at $63.60 in switching ownership of 27,211 units, Proven Investments advanced $2 to $38 with an exchange of 143,958 shares. Sagicor Group gained 49 cents to close at $50.49 after exchanging 12,602 units, Seprod jumped $6.32 higher to a 52 weeks’ high of $82.92 with 8,914 stock units clearing the market. Supreme Ventures shed $1.90 in closing at $14.10 in the trading of 422,951 stocks and Victoria Mutual Investments gained 45 cents in ending at $5.78 with 58,944 units changing hands.
In the preference segment, Eppley 7.50% preference share fell 70 cents to close at $6.25 in exchanging 100 stocks.

Trading activity ended on Friday with the market rising after more stocks advanced than declined, with 14 percent more shares changing hands with 64 percent less values than on Thursday, at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
The All Jamaican Composite Index rose 833.77 points to 436,595.98, the JSE Main Index advanced 740.65 points to 397,747.50 and the JSE Financial Index fell 0.54 points to settle at 99.44.
Trading ended with 47 securities, up from 45 on Thursday, with 18 stocks rising, 16 declining and 13 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio based on ICInsider.com forecast of 2021-22 earnings averages 15.4.
The market closed with 15,472,941 shares trading for $89,310,861 compared to 13,523,122 units at $248,266,043 on Thursday. Wigton Windfarm traded 45.6 percent of total volume, with 7.05 million shares, followed by Stanley Motta with 12.2 percent after exchanging 1.89 million units and QWI Investments with 10.3 percent for 1.59 million units

Palace Amusement climbed $69 to close at $809 after trading 11 units, Portland JSX advanced 89 cents to $8 with investors switching ownership of 30,200 units, Proven Investments shed 70 cents in closing at $36 in an exchange of 10,779 stock units. Scotia Group lost 24 cents in closing at $41.75 in switching ownership of 89,361 shares. Bears halt another big move

Bulls made a gallant attempt to push the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market up another 3,000 plus points on Thursday, following Wednesday’s healthy rise, but the early gains were whittled away as market activity ended, with just a few hundred points rise in the indices at the close.
The All Jamaican Composite Index advanced 375.09 points to 435,762.21, the JSE Main Index rose 322.43 points to 397,006.85, and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.36 points to end at 99.98.
Trading ended with 45 securities, down from 47 on Wednesday with prices of 19rising, 12 declining and 14 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings averages 15.3.
The market closed with 36 percent more shares traded with a value that was 527 percent greater than on Wednesday, resulting from 13,523,122 shares trading for $248,266,043, up from 9,910,014 units at $39,590,810 on Wednesday. Jamaica Producers led trading with 44.9 percent of total volume for 6.07 million shares, followed by Transjamaican Highway with 15 percent for 2.03 million units, Wigton Windfarm accounted for 14.7 percent with 1.99 million units and Caribbean Cement with 7.9 percent for an exchange of 1.07 million units.
Trading averaged 300,514 units at $5,517,023, compared to an average of 210,851 shares at $842,358 on Wednesday. Month to date trading averages 231,680 units at $1,486,157, in contrast to 223,508 units at $1,007,558 on Wednesday. March averaged 354,304 units at $2,543,232.

At the close, Caribbean Cement declined $2.50 in closing at $69.50 after an exchange of 1,065,806 shares, Eppley Caribbean Property Fund dropped $3.85 to $40.54, with 210 units changing hands, Jamaica Producers advanced $1.25 to a 52 weeks’ high of $25.25 in trading 6,066,805 shares. The gain follows the announcement that the company is acquiring 50 percent shares in the UK based shipping line, Geest Line Limited. Key Insurance picked up 38 cents to end at $5.96 in a transfer of 80,438 units, Mayberry Investments lost 20 cents to close at $5.15 in trading 18,224 stocks, Palace Amusement dropped $55 in ending at $740 with the swapping of 51 shares. PanJam Investment shed 49 cents to close at $62 in an exchange of 169,406 stock units, Proven Investments rose 71 cents to $36.70 trading 24,702 stocks. Sagicor Group fell 60 cents to finish at $50 after 9,782 shares crossed the exchange.

Salada Foods gained 35 cents ending at $5.20 with an exchange of 5,775 stock units, Scotia Group closed 54 cents higher at $41.99 with the swapping of 2,624 shares, Seprod rose 50 cents to close at $75.50, trading 9,402 units and Supreme Ventures gained 49 cents and ended at $15.51 in the transfer of 52,263 shares.

Big gains for JSE Main Market

The market gained in trading on Wednesday after advancing stocks outdistanced declining ones by a third, after 38 percent less funds traced stocks than on Tuesday, as the Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed.
The All Jamaican Composite Index jumped 3,638.22 points to 435,387.12, the JSE Main Index climbed 3,316.85 points to 396,684.42, and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.79 points to settle at 99.62.
Trading ended with 47 securities, down from 50 on Tuesday and closed with prices of 18 stocks rising, 14 declining and 15 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio averages 15.5 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings.
The market closed with 9,910,014 shares trading for $39,590,810 compared to 9,823,398 units at $63,848,406 on Tuesday. Wigton Windfarm led trading with 52.4 percent of total volume for 5.20 million shares, followed by Transjamaican Highway with 18.5 percent for 1.83 million units and JMMB Group 7.35% due 2028 with 7.1 percent for 701,195 units.
Trading averaged 210,851 units at $842,358, compared to 196,468 shares at $1,276,968 on Tuesday. Month to date averages 223,508 units at $1,007,558, in contrast to 225,299 units at $1,030,945 on Tuesday. March averaged 354,304 units at $2,543,232.

Key Insurance shed 32 cents to close at $5.58 after 107,594 units crossed the market, Kingston Wharves finished 39 cents lower at $43.50 in exchanging 2,542 stocks. NCB Financial advanced $2.96 to $142.95 after trading 23,531 shares, Palace Amusement dropped $19 to close at $795 in switching ownership of 72 stock units, Proven Investments rose 99 cents to end at $35.99 in the swapping of 245,561 stocks. JSE majors bounce

The number of securities trading remains elevated as the market index ended higher at the close of market activity on Tuesday, but with a 51 percent fall in the volume of stocks trading at a 31 percent higher value than on Monday at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
The All Jamaican Composite Index advanced 1,001.85 points to 431,748.90, the JSE Main Index rose 718.11 points to 393,367.57 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.36 points to settle at 98.83.
Trading ended with 50 securities, up from 48 on Monday and closed with prices of 17 stocks rising, 17 declining and 16 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio averages 15.3 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings.
Overall, 9,823,398 shares traded for $63,848,406 compared to 20,114,270 units at $48,738,713 on Monday. Transjamaican Highway led trading with 27.9 percent of total volume for 2.74 million shares, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 21.3 percent and 2.09 million units and Jamaica Broilers 8.1 percent with 799,061 units trading.
Trading on Tuesday averaged 196,468 units at $1,276,968, compared to 419,047 shares at $1,015,390 on Monday. Month to date averages 225,299 units at $1,030,945, versus 230,411 units at $987,324 on Monday. March closed with an average of 354,304 units at $2,543,232.

Margaritaville declined $2 to end at a 52 weeks’ low of $31 with a transfer of 1,000 units, Mayberry Investments gained 25 cents to close at $5.35 with 5,776 shares clearing the market, Mayberry Jamaican Equities rose 61 cents to $7.79 in exchanging 381 stock units. MPC Caribbean Clean Energy declined $1 to end at a 52 weeks’ low of $128 in switching ownership of 199 units, NCB Financial Group climbed $2.98 to $139.99 trading 19,240 stock units, Proven Investments shed 50 cents to close at $35 in the swapping of 42,727 shares. Sagicor Group climbed $2.30 to $50, trading 18,739 units, Scotia Group advanced $1.01 to $41.01 with the transfer of 13,932 stock units. Seprod gained $1 to settle at $74.50 trading 20,144 stocks, Supreme Ventures fell $1 to $15.10 with 135,475 units changing hands and Victoria Mutual Investments ended 30 cents lower at $5.30 with 266,003 shares crossing the market.
In the preference segment, Eppley 8.25% lost 15 cents to close at $6.10 with 3,039 stock units clearing the market and JMMB Group 7.25% rose 32 cents to end at a 52 weeks’ high of $2.46 in exchange of 100 units.

Falling stocks day

Market activity recorded a big bounce on Monday, from Friday’s very low level of trading and ended with the volume of stocks traded surging 121 percent and the value up 436 percent over Friday’s tepid levels, with more stocks falling than rising, at the close of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
The All Jamaican Composite Index declined 1,972.70 points to 430,747.05, the Main Index shed 1,779.46 points to 392,649.46 and the JSE Financial Index slipped 0.32 points to 98.47.
Trading ended with 48 securities, down from 49 on Friday and closed with prices of 11 stocks rising, 23 declining and 14 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings averages 15.4.
The market closed with 20,114,270 shares trading for $48,738,713, up from 3,755,183 units at $22,081,750 on Friday. Wigton Windfarm dominated trading with 72.1 percent of total volume for 14.50 million shares followed by Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 8.6 percent for 1.72 million units and Salada Foods with 3.8 percent market share for 765,951 units.
Trading averaged 419,047 units at $1,015,390, compared to 76,636 shares at $450,648 on Friday. Month to date trading averaged 230,411 units at $987,324, in contrast to 191,717 units at $981,567 on Friday. Trading month to date compares to 354,304 units at $2,543,232.

Carreras lost 20 cents to finish at $8.80, with 188,295 units clearing the market, Eppley dropped $4.09 to end at $30 after exchanging 160 shares. First Rock Capital rose 54 cents to $16.55 with 1,002 stock units crossing the market, Grace Kennedy shed 70 cents to close at $87.20 in exchanging 25,206 stock units, Jamaica Broilers declined 50 cents to $28.50 with investors switching ownership of 44,922 units. Jamaica Stock Exchange dipped 49 cents to $18 trading 1,565 shares, Mayberry Jamaican Equities finished 62 cents lower at $7.18 after exchanging 9,100 units, MPC Caribbean Clean Energy fell $1 to a 52 weeks’ low of $129 after a transfer of two units, Palace Amusement climbed $16.01 to $814 with an exchange of 193 stocks. Proven Investments gained 50 cents to end at $35.50 with 4,266 shares clearing the market, Sagicor Group declined $2.30 to end at $47.70 in trading 24,000 stock units, Salada Foods fell 20 cents to $5 with 765,951 units changing hands. Scotia Group fell 70 cents to $40 in switching ownership of 48,277 shares, Supreme Ventures rose 60 cents to $16.10 in the swapping of 17,031 units and Wisynco Group lost 60 cents to close at $15 trading 102,762 stock units.
In the preference segment, JMMB Group 7.25% gained 14 cents to close at $1.59 after an exchange of 8,442 stocks.

Main Market slips into the weekend

Trading ended with the market declining on the shortened Friday session with the market closing after just two hours of activity in keeping with scheduled early closure, which led to sharply reduced activity rising of 55 percent fewer shares with a value that was 49 percent less than on Thursday on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
The All Jamaican Composite Index fell 280.81 points to settle at 432,719.75, the JSE Main Index lost 93.85 points to 394,428.92 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.41 points to end at 98.79.
Overall 49 securities traded versus 48 on Thursday with 16 rising, 15 declining and 18 ending unchanged. The PE Ratio averages 15.6 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings.
Overall, 3,755,183 shares traded for $22,081,750 compared to 8,394,618 units at $43,010,092 on Thursday. Wigton Windfarm led trading with 40.3 percent of total volume for 1.51 million shares, followed by Key Insurance 10.8 percent, with 407,418 units and Transjamaican Highway with 8.3 percent for 311,804 units.
Trading averaged 76,636 units at $450,648, compared to 174,888 shares at $896,044 on Thursday. Trading month to date averaged 191,717 units at $981,567, in contrast to 222,197 units at $1,122,189 on Thursday. Trading month to date compares adversely to March with an average of 354,107 units at $2,572,127.

JMMB Group dropped 85 cents to $31.85 with 17,666 shares changing hands, Margaritaville rose $1 to $33, with a transfer of 100 units, Mayberry Investments lost 37 cents to end at $5.10 with an exchange of 55,300 stocks. Proven Investments fell 94 cents to $35 with 82 shares passing through the market, Sagicor Group declined by $1 to close at $50 with 13,238 units changing hands, Seprod climbed $1.40 to $73.50 with 5,127 shares traded. Supreme Ventures fell 60 cents to $15.50 with a transfer of 291,969 stocks and Wisynco Group gained 43 cents to finish at $15.60 with 36,182 units crossing the exchange.
In the preference segment, JMMB Group 7.25% lost 15 cents to close at $1.45 with 474 shares changing hands.

Moderate recovery for JSE majors

Trading on Thursday saw continued heightened of securities being active, but the volume and value of the overall trade dropped 30 percent and the value dipped 34 percent from Wednesday, but more than twice the stocks advanced than declined when trading closed on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market.
The All Jamaican Composite Index advanced 233.35 points to 433,000.56, the JSE Main Index rose 213.26 points to 394,522.77 and the JSE Financial Index inched 0.02 points higher to 99.20.
A total of 48 securities traded similar to Wednesday and closed with prices of 24 stocks rising, 11 declining and 13 remaining unchanged. The PE Ratio averages 15.4 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2021-22 earnings.
The market closed with 8,394,618 shares trading for $43,010,092 compared to 12,050,050 units at $65,532,009 on Wednesday. Wigton Windfarm led trading with 32.1 percent of total volume in exchanging 2.7 million shares, followed by Transjamaican Highway with 11.7 percent for 979,870 units and Sagicor Select Financial Fund 10.2 percent, with 851,678 units changing hands.
Trading averaged 174,888 units at $896,044, compared to 251,043 shares at $1,365,250 on Wednesday. Month to date trading averaged 222,197 units at $1,122,189, in contrast to 238,773 units at $1,201,422 on Wednesday. March closed with an average of 354,304 units at $2,543,232.

Key Insurance shed 40 cents in ending at $5.50 after clearing the market with 351,114 stocks, Kingston Wharves closed 30 cents higher at $43.90 with a transfer of 12,116 stock units, MPC Caribbean Clean Energy rose 50 cents to $130 in switching ownership of 1,046 stock units. NCB Financial declined $2.15 to $137.01 in exchanging 21,614 units, Palace Amusement climbed $47.99 to $797.99, with 59 stock units crossing the exchange, Proven Investments advanced $1.94 to $35.94, with 34,871 units changing hands. Sagicor Group advanced $1 to $51, with 149,134 stocks clearing the market. Scotia Group shed $1.01 to close at $40.75, with 22,768 stock units changing hands and Seprod fell 90 cents to $72.10 in trading 4,269 stocks.
In the preference segment, 138 Student Living Preference share lost 11 cents to close at $5.44, trading 153 units.
