Big bounce for JSE majors – Wednesday

Proven Investment ended at a new closing high of $24.61 on the JSE main market.

The main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange climbed sharply at the close on Wednesday as more stocks rose than fall, helping to drive the indices up by more than 2,300 points.

At the close, the All Jamaica Composite Index jumped 2,558.93 points to  258,475.28, just 1,000 points lower than the close on Thursday last week, before it dropped on Friday by 5,207.13 points.
At the end of trading, the JSE Market Index surged 2,331.48 points to 235,500.26 and the JSE US dollar market index closed unchanged at 172.17. Twenty five (25) securities changed hands in the main market, with 2 trading in the US dollar market, leading to 11 stocks advancing and 6 declining. The main market ended with 2,769,523 units valued at $67,527,250 changing hands compared to 4,342,047 units valued at $87,253,212 at the close on Tuesday. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for 219,087 units valued at US$86,787 and brought the total trading to $78,662,040.

15 stocks gained – Tuesday

Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded at an all-time high on Tuesday.

Gains in the prices of 15 stocks on the main market stocks of the Jamaica Stock Exchange drove the indices up at the close on Tuesday, adding to the big gains on Monday, but the gains over the past two years are not enough to wipe the 5,207 points drop on Friday last, that left the All Jamaica Index at 254,236.40 on Friday. Down from 259,443.53 on the previous day.
The All Jamaica Composite Index advanced 1,268.06 points to close at 255,916.35, the JSE Market Index gained 1,155.35 points to 233,168.78 and the JSE US dollar market index lost 0.06 points to close at 172.17.
At the close of trading, 22 securities changed hands in the main market with 1 trading in the US dollar market, and one in the bond market leading to 15 stocks advancing and 3 declining. The main market ended with 4,342,047 units valued at $87,253,212 changing hands compared to 1,989,011 units valued at $20,502,913 at the close on Monday. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for 62,895 units valued at US$13,838 bringing the total trade to J$89,256,266.

Stocks end Friday with big gains

Trading in the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Friday with a big jump in the indices as the number of stocks rising climbed to 15 with just 7 declining out of a total of 26 securities trading in the US dollar and main markets. A number of stocks recorded big price movements by the close.
At the close, the All Jamaica Composite Index advanced 1,704.13 points to 257,973.24, the JSE Market Index gained 1,552.66 points to 235,042.84 and the JSE US dollar market index fell 6.29 points to close at 180.97. Trading in the main market ended with 1,531,947 units valued at $26,473,230 changing hands compared to 797,671 units valued at $13,179,281 at the close on Thursday. The US dollar market, closed with 3 securities trading and accounted for 117,720 units valued at US$56,637.

JSE main market ends down on Monday

Trading in the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Monday with a number of stocks declining out pacing those rising. The volume and value of stocks trading declined compared to that on Friday and the market indices trended lower.

RJR the dominant trade on Thursday

RJR traded more than 37 m shares on Thursday.

Trading in the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Thursday with a jump in the volume traded. Radio Jamaica with 37 million units and Sagicor Group with 1 million units were the only securities to contribute meaningful volumes. The weak demand elsewhere resulted in the market indices falling sharply.
At the close, the All Jamaica Composite Index declined 1,802.76 points to close at 257,637.51, the JSE Market Index fell 1,642.52 points to 234,736.94 and the JSE US dollar market index lost 0.77 points to close at 187.33.

JSE gains more than 1000 points Wednesday

Big drop in stocks on Thursday

Trading in the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange was hit hard with declining stock ending 2 to 1 over advancing ones leading to big fall in the main market indices. JSE indices rise in soft market – Tuesday

Trading in the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Tuesday with advancing stocks just edging out declining ones and leading the market indices to a mild increase. At the close trading volume and values rose sharply compared to the prior day.
The All Jamaica Composite Index advanced 169.10 points to close at 258,452.06, the JSE Market Index gained 154.07 points to 235,479.10 but the JSE US dollar market index lost 14.16 points to 186.29.
At the close of trading, 23 securities changed hands with 1 trading in the US dollar market, leading to 11 stocks advancing and 9 declining. Trading in the main market ended with 11,853,174 units valued at $109,266,700 changing hands compared to 5,146,243 units valued at just $51,796,808 at the close on Monday. Trading in the US dollar market accounted for 146,047 units valued at US$34,731.
