Stocks tumble on TTSE

Stocks movement was mostly down at the close of trading on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Friday and ending in only one stock advancing. The market closed with a 49 percent fall in the volume of shares exchanged, but with the value down 47 percent from Thursday.
The market closed with 15 securities trading, up from nineteen on Thursday, and ended with one stock advancing, six declining, including two closing at a 52 weeks’ low and eight remaining unchanged. Trading resulted in 46,072 shares for $498,067 compared to 89,782 shares valued $936,254 on Thursday.
The average trade for the day amounted to 3,071 units at $33,204 versus an average of 4,733 units at $49,308 for each security on Thursday. For the month to date, the average trade amounts to 7,500 shares at $107,666 compared to 7,978 units at $115,701 on Thursday. October closed with an average of 16,922 shares for $285,061.
The T&T Composite Index gained 0.41 points to 1,298.25, the All T&T Index rose 0.81 points to 1,741.12, while the Cross Listed Index remained unchanged at 115.62.
The Investors Choice bid-offer indicator ended with the bids of two stocks higher than their last selling prices and four with lower offers.
Stocks rising Trinidad Cement, the sole stock advancing in the day’s trade, closed at $2.20, with gains of 14 cents after exchanging 10,000 shares.
Stocks declining Guardian Holdings shed 25 cents to end at $20.15, in transferring 41 units, Guardian Media, finished 25 cents lower at 52 weeks’ low of $4, with 1,010 units changing hands, L.J Williams B share lost 4 cents to finish at $1.40 trading 140 units. Massy Holdings declined by $1.13 to close at $57.37, with an exchange of a mere 17 units, Scotiabank ended at 52 weeks’ low of $54, after losing 35 cents transferring 225 units and Trinidad and Tobago NGL lost 10 cents trading 9,804 shares to settle at $14.65.
Stocks trading firmAgostini’s exchanged 40 units at $24.70, Ansa McAL traded 2,021 units at $49, Clico Investments held firm at $25, with a transfer of 2,800 stock units. First Citizens Bank remained at $43.50, trading 2,296 stock units, JMMB Group closed at $1.75, with 16,667 shares crossing the market, Point Lisas exchanged 317 units at $3.15. Prestige Holdings held firm at $7.25 after trading 640 units and Republic Financial Holdings closed at $140, with 54 units changing hands.
