Stocks ends higher on the JSE Main Market

Stocks closed mildly higher on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Wednesday, with declining stocks just edging out those rising, following trading in 52 securities compared with 61 on Tuesday, with prices of 18 stocks rising, 19 declining and 15 ending unchanged as the volume of stocks traded increasing 47 percent valued 33 percent less than on Tuesday.
The market closed with 10,549,221 shares being traded for $57,006,810 compared with 7,176,622 stock units at $84,809,971 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 202,870 shares at $1,096,285 compared with 117,650 units at $1,390,327 on Tuesday and for the month to date, an average of 199,222 stocks at $1,581,947 versus 198,689 shares at $1,652,887 on the previous day and September with an average of 592,167 stock units at $8,859,784.
Transjamaican Highway led trading with 5.51 million shares for 52.2 percent of total volume followed by Wigton Windfarm with 1.98 million units for 18.8 percent of the day’s trade and Lasco Manufacturing with 549,063 stock units for 5.2 percent of market share.
The All Jamaican Composite Index increased 478.95 points to close trading at 355,308.91, the JSE Main Index rallied 333.56 points to end at 311,816.17 and the JSE Financial Index rose 0.21 points to 65.77.
The Main Market ended trading with an average PE Ratio of 14.2. The JSE Main and USD Market PE ratios are based on last traded prices and earnings forecasts by ICInsider.com for companies with the financial year ending around August 2025.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows good signs of more increases in the market on Thursday with 12 stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and three with lower offers.
At the close of the market, Caribbean Cement popped $1.44 and ended at $67 with investors dealing in 2,510 shares, Eppley Caribbean Property Fund sank 68 cents to $40.92 in switching ownership of 392 stocks, Jamaica Producers fell $1.81 in closing at $19.23 with investors trading 14,074 shares. JMMB Group slipped 51 cents to close at $23.75 with 41,953 stock units changing hands, NCB Financial increased by $1.96 to finish at $51.98 following a transfer of 34,856 shares, Supreme Ventures climbed $1.30 to end at $22.90 after an exchange of 5,381 stocks. Sygnus Credit Investments rose 60 cents to $11.90 after 96,100 units passed through the market and Sygnus Real Estate Finance advanced 50 cents and ended at $10.25 after an exchange of 3,011 stocks.
In the preference segment, 138 Student Living preference share sank $35.25 in closing at $199.74 with investors trading a mere 3 units and Sygnus Credit Investments C10.5% dipped 50 cents to close at $104.50 with 224 stocks crossing the exchange.
