Steady trading on JSE Main market

Trading activity dropped on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market on Thursday, resulting from a 21 percent drop in the volume of stocks traded with a 14 percent lower value than on Wednesday, following the trading in 56 securities compared with 52 on Wednesday, with prices of 23 stocks rising, 21 declining and 12 ending unchanged.
The market closed with 8,372,551 shares traded valued $48,847,170 compared with 10,549,221 units at $57,006,810 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 149,510 shares at $872,271 compared with 202,870 stocks at $1,096,285 on Wednesday and for the month to date, an average of 193,222 stock units at $1,496,297 compared with 199,222 shares at $1,581,947 on the prior day and September with an average of 592,167 units at $8,859,784.
Sagicor Select Financial Fund led trading with 2.16 million shares for 25.9 percent of total volume followed by Transjamaican Highway with 1.89 million stock units for 22.6 percent of the day’s trade and Wigton Windfarm with 1.75 million units for 20.9 percent market share.
The All Jamaican Composite Index climbed 361.83 points to close at 355,670.74, the JSE Main Index lost 290.83 points to end at 311,525.34 and the JSE Financial Index slipped 0.01 points to settle at 65.76.
The Main Market ended trading with an average PE Ratio of 14.1. The JSE Main and USD Market PE ratios are based on last traded prices and earnings forecasts by ICInsider.com for companies with the financial year ending around August 2025.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows eight stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and seven with lower offers.
At the close of the market, AS Bryden lost $2 to finish at $35 after trading 532 shares, Caribbean Cement increased 90 cents and ended at $67.90 in an exchange of 829 stocks, Eppley climbed $4.90 to $36.90 with investors swapping 320 shares. Eppley Caribbean Property Fund rose 98 cents in closing at $41.90 in switching ownership of 15 stock units, Jamaica Broilers fell 89 cents to end at $34 with 40,675 shares crossing the exchange, Jamaica Producers advanced $1.81 to close at $21.04 with a transfer of 75 stocks. Mayberry Jamaican Equities sank 94 cents to $9.26 after an exchange of 10,739 units, NCB Financial declined 48 cents to end at $51.50 after it closed with 31,975 stock units changing hands, Pan Jamaica popped 86 cents in closing at $47.50 as investors exchanged 8,114 shares. Sagicor Real Estate Fund shed 65 cents to close at $7.35 in trading 63,468 units, Seprod sank $3 to finish at $80 after 32,624 stock units were traded, Sygnus Real Estate Finance dipped 50 cents and ended at $9.75 in an exchange of 166 stock units and Wisynco Group gained 55 cents to land at $21.55 with 52,527 shares crossing the market.
In the preference segment, Jamaica Public Service 9.5% rallied $150 to close at $2,900 after an exchange of 31 stocks and Sygnus Credit Investments C10.5% popped 40 cents to end at $104.90 with 498 units crossing the market .
