JSE main market inched up – Friday

Supreme Ventures traded the most shares on Friday.

Trading in the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Friday with 6 stocks advancing and 9 declining based on last traded prices. It was the second day of gains in the indices after the market lost value for three consecutive days by losing 5,150 points on the all Jamaica Composite index.
The main and US dollar markets closed with 26 securities changing hands on a day with moderate volumes.
In market activity, Supreme Ventures was the dominant trade on Friday but the stock price fell to $5.50, losing 20 cents with 1,444,908 units trading. Barita Investments lost 67 cents to close at $6.85 trading just 350 units, Berger Paints closed at $11.50 with an exchange of 11,554 units, Cable and Wireless closed at $1.27 with a loss of 3 cents and 419,488 units changing hands, Caribbean Cement closed at $33 trading 15,715 shares. Carreras jumped $5 to close at a 52 weeks’ high of $74 trading a mere 1,090 units, 1834 Investments lost 20 cents, closing at $1.80 with 25,100 shares changing hands, Grace Kennedy closed at $40.85, losing 15 cents with an exchange of 117,428 units. Jamaica Broilers slid $1.50 to $14.50, trading 34,664 shares, Jamaica Producers lost 21 cents and closed at $17.24, down 28 percent from its 2017 high, with 306,833 units changing hands, Jamaica Stock Exchange gained 80 cents to close at $10.80 with 157,670 shares traded. JMMB Group advanced 50 cents, closing at a 52 weeks’ closing high of $20.50 with an exchange of 76,805 units, during the day the price hit an intraday high of $23. Kingston Properties traded 600 units at a 52 weeks’ high of $11 for a gain of $1, Kingston Wharves closed at $28.52 with a loss of $2.48 trading 3,450 units, National Commercial Bank closed lower at $61, losing $2, after swapping 37,151 shares. Pan Jamaican ended trading at $39 with a loss of $1.75 and an exchange of 284,952 shares, Portland JSX gained 2 cents to close at $10.55 with an exchange of 5,500 shares, Pulse Investments closed at $6.80 with a loss of 10 cents and 3,030 shares changing hands, Radio Jamaica closed at $1.90 trading 161,234 units. Sagicor Group closed at $35.20, losing 37 cents with trades of 45,746 units, after it hit an intraday high of $38, Sagicor Real Estate fund closed at $11.50 with an exchange of 8,058 units. Scotia Group lost 40 cents to close at $39.10 having traded 21,400 shares, Proven Investments closed at 32 US cents trading 233,119 ordinary shares and JMMB Group 7.5% preference share lost 2 cents with trades of 167,612 units, to close at $1.07.
