JSE Main Market gains

Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Main Market ended on Friday, with the volume of stocks traded declining 39 percent with the value just inching higher over trading on Thursday, with trading in 55 securities compared with 56, previously, with prices of 17 stocks rising, 20 declining and 18 ending unchanged.
The market closed with 5,075,111 shares being traded for $49,246,082 compared with 8,372,551 units at $48,847,170 on Thursday.
Trading averaged 92,275 shares at $895,383 compared to 149,510 units at $872,271 on Thursday and month to date, an average of 182,524 stocks at $1,432,616 compared to 193,222 shares at $1,496,297 on the previous day and September with an average of 592,167 stock units at $8,859,784.
Transjamaican Highway led trading with 1.71 million shares for 33.6 percent of total volume followed by Wigton Windfarm with 1.14 million units for 22.5 percent of the day’s trade and QWI Investments with 608,452 stock units for 12 percent market share.
The All Jamaican Composite Index gained 2,315.52 points to end trading at 357,986.26, the JSE Main Index gained 1,094.94 points to finish at 312,620.28 and the JSE Financial Index popped 0.32 points to close at 66.08.
The Main Market ended trading with an average PE Ratio of 14. The JSE Main and USD Market PE ratios are based on last traded prices and earnings forecasts by ICInsider.com for companies with the financial year ending around August 2025.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows 11 stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and 10 with lower offers.
At the close of market activities, Caribbean Cement gained $2.08 in closing at $69.98 after 10,907 stocks passed through the market, Eppley dropped $3.30 to $33.60 with an exchange of 500 units, Eppley Caribbean Property Fund sank $1.90 to end at $40 with 1,677 shares crossing the market. First Rock Real Estate popped 48 cents to $10.54 with investors trading 11,339 stocks, Guardian Holdings fell $1 to close at $329 and closed with 55 shares changing hands, Jamaica Broilers climbed $1 to $35 as investors exchanged 73,673 stock units. JMMB Group skidded $1.14 and ended at $22.66 in trading 106,953 stocks, Mayberry Jamaican Equities rose 94 cents to $10.20 after an exchange of 3,400 stocks, 138 Student Living gained 44 cents to finish at $4.49 with investors swapping 7 shares. Pan Jamaica rose $1.49 in closing at $48.99 in an exchange of 50 stock units and Scotia Group rallied 80 cents to end at $45.50 with investors dealing in 293,317 units.
