Majors in moderate fall – Wednesday
The JSE Market Index lost 144.01 points to 153,042.48 the all Jamaica Composite Index dropped 160.95 points to end at 169,989.89 and the JSE combined index shed 569.64 points to close at 162,059.55.

At the end of the market activities, Berger Paints lost 10 cents while trading 3,450 shares at $4, Cable & Wireless closed at $1.40 with 552,033 units, Caribbean Cement jumped $3 to end at $23 with 218,612 shares trading. Carreras climbed $1 to close at $65, while trading 2,930 units, gleaner traded at $2 with 20,000 shares changing hands, Grace Kennedy gained 50 cents with 6,044 shares trading to close at $83.50, Jamaica Broilers gained 5 cents after trading 223,919 units to close at $14.55, Jamaica Producers traded 1,200 shares but lost $2 to close at $33. Jamaica Stock Exchange traded 5,000 shares to end with a loss of $1.90 at $21, JMMB Group had 16,994 units changing hands but lost 13 cents in closing at $10.39, Kingston Wharves had 101,153 shares trading with a rise of 1 cent at $11.36, National Commercial Bank had 1,262,910 shares changing hands at $41 at the close. 138 Student Living traded 20,000 shares and gained 13 cents to end at $5.80, Pulse dropped $1.52 to cl6se at $2.40 with 22,294 units changing hands, Sagicor Group fell 50 cents with 274,371 shares changing hands at $23, Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 114,030 shares but the price declined 50 cents to $11. Scotia Group had only 3,821 shares changing hands to close with a gain of 50 cents at $30.50. Scotia Investments rose $1.50 with 7,000 units changing hands at $28, Supreme Ventures closed at $4.99 with 23,260 units changing hands after shedding 10 cents, Proven Investments rose 2 US cents to end at 22 US cents with 530,000 units trading.
JSE majors dives on Tuesday
Jamaican main market stocks lost much ground on Tuesday, as Cable & Wireless lost 7 percent and Carib Cement 13 percent in value. Declining and advancing stocks were even, at 15 each as 38 securities changed hands, in all market segments. At the close 2 stocks traded at 52 weeks’ intraday highs with 6,931,877 units valued at $84,204,868 changing hands in all markets. The junior market accounted for 1,498,582 units changing hands, valued at $7,035,386.
The JSE Market Index dived 2,056.31 points to 153,186.49 the all Jamaica Composite Index dropped 2,298.05 points to end at 170,150.84 and the JSE combined index shed 1,809.09 points to close at 162,629.19.

Jamaica Stock Exchange traded 1,400 shares to end at $22.90, JMMB Group had 39,263 units changing hands but rose 12 cents in closing at $10.52, Kingston Wharves had 11,800 shares trading with a rise of 5 cents at $11.35, National Commercial Bank had 805,840 shares changing hands to close at $41. Pan Jamaican Investments traded 12,900 units at $96 after rising $1, Sagicor Group fell 5 cents with 85,759 shares changing hands at $23.50, Scotia Group had 444,188 shares changing hands to close with a gain of 50 cents at $31. Scotia Investments dropped 5 cents with 22,300 units changing hands at $26.50, Supreme Ventures closed at $5.15 with 76,200 units changing hands after shedding 10 cents, Proven Investments lost 2 US cents to end at 20 US cents with 518,500 units trading and JMMB 7.5% preference share traded 300,000 units at $2.15.
JSE Majors suffer deep fall – Tuesday
The Jamaica Stock Exchange recorded losses in the main market with the junior market recording a gain as limited volumes traded in the early morning session on Tuesday.
After 90 minutes of the market opening, 30 securities traded, accounting for only 1,056,772 shares changing hands. A total of 11 stocks declined and 8 rose.
The all Jamaica Composite Index lost 2,008.86 points to 170,440.03, the JSE Market Index dropped 1,797.54 points to 153,445.26, the JSE combined index fell -1,540.62 points to 162,897.66 but the junior market index rose 17.08 points to 2,016.26
Access Financial Traded at a new high of $21 with only 1,000 shares, Caribbean Cement fell $3.11 to $20 with 182,378 shares trading, Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.50% traded 300,000 units at $2.15 and Knutsford Express traded at a new high of $19 with just 1,000 shares.
JSE enjoyed gains on Thursday
The Jamaican stocks made modest recovery on Thursday, with rising securities numbering 14 while 9 fell as 33 changed hands in all market segments. At the close 2 stocks ended at the close at 52 weeks’ highs with 7,003,022 units valued at $220,074,759.83 changed hands in all markets. The junior market accounted for 1,023,326 units changing hands, valued at $4,965,280.
The JSE Market Index rose 584.16 points to 154,828.16 the all Jamaica Composite Index gained 652.83 points to end at 171,985.50 and the JSE combined index climbed 703.51 points to close at 163,692.87.
The market saw a number of stock recording large price movements with Caribbean Cement jumping $2.94 Jamaica Producers traded 67,930 shares and gained of $5.50 to close at a new 52 weeks’ high of $35.50, Grace up 95 cents while trading 432,842 units, National Commercial Bank with a gain of 85 cents with 3,860,701 shares traded. Berger Paints lost 88 cents. Cable & Wireless traded 507,879 units, JMMB Group traded 410,308 units to gain 23 cents.

Honey Bun at new high – Thursday
The Jamaica Stock Exchange recorded modest gains in the early morning session on Thursday with mostly light trading volume as investors continue to digest results of companies and the impact of the change in government. The markets, however, seems to be settling down have undergone a fair bit of correction.
After 90 minutes of the market opening, 27 securities traded, accounting for only 3,773,743 shares changing hands. A total of 10 stocks declined and 6 rose.
The all Jamaica Composite Index gained 60.42 points to 171,393.09, the JSE Market Index rose by 54.06 points to 154,298.06, the JSE combined index 136.94 points to 163,126.30 and the junior market index rose 9.53 points to 1,952.58.
Honey Bun traded at a new all-time high of $16.50 after gaining $2.250 while trading 2,000 shares, National Commercial Bank traded 2,704,860 shares down to $40, Carreras traded 60,983 units at $65, Lasco Distributors traded steady with 95,500 at $5.50, Caribbean Cement rose $1.55 with 21,991 shares to trade at $22.18 and now has the bid at $22.15 to buy 100,000 shares, JMMB Group traded 212265 units at $10.42.
JSE suffered from uncertainty – Wednesday
The JSE Market Index suffered a fall of 191.17 points to 154,244.00 the all Jamaica Composite Index dropped 213.64 points to end at 171,332.67 and the JSE combined index dropped 224.85 points to close at 162,989.36. The main market recovered from losses in the indices in the morning session with the all Jamaican Composite Index dropping more than 1,000 points.

Gleaner Company gained 5 cents to close at $2 as 101,689 shares changed hands, Grace Kennedy ended with 3,541 shares trading to close at $83 after declining by $1, the stock traded in Trinidad at the equivalent of $94 on Wednesday. Jamaica Broilers rose 50 cents after trading 566,345 units to close at $14.50, Jamaica Producers ended with 1,323,480 shares changing hands at $30, the stock traded at an intraday high of $35.05, Jamaica Stock Exchange traded 524 shares to end at $23 as the price gained $2, JMMB Group had 290,907 units changing hands to close at $10.42. Kingston Wharves had 1,361 shares trading with a fall of 13 cents at $11.31, Mayberry Investments traded 12,224 shares to close with a gain of 57 cents at $5.08, National Commercial Bank had 85,093 shares changing hands but the price rose by 14 cents to close at $40.15. 138 Student Living traded 22,500 shares at $5.80, Pan Jamaican Investments gained 80 cents while trading 33,044 units at $95, Sagicor Group rose 48 cents with 697,261 shares changing hands at $23.50, Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 26,820 shares but the price fell 20 cents to $11.30. Scotia Group had 57,321 shares changing hands to close with a loss of 1 cent at $30.99, Scotia Investments rose $1.37 with 110,000 units changing hands at $28. Supreme Ventures fell by 9 cents and closed at $5.90 with 26,034 units changing hands and JMMB Group 7.50% preference share traded 160,000 units at $1.20.
