Big fall for some main market stocks

Kingston Wharves dropped $8 to close at a record $52 and a record high of $85 in the past 12 months.

Declining stocks dominated trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange ended on Monday with the prices declining more than three to one with a number of sizeable price movements.  
At the close of trading, 37 securities changed hands in the main and US dollar markets with 7 advancing, 23 declining and 7 trading firm. The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index dived 3,897.33 points to close at 561,093.84, the JSE Index dropped 3,616 points to 510,527.38 and the JSE Financial Index lost 1.08 points to close at 139.11.
Main market activity ended with 18,599,441 units valued at $235,193,270, in contrast to 32,896,372 units valued at $273,937,492 from 37 securities on Friday.
Wigton Windfarm dominated trading with 11 million shares for 59 percent of total volume, followed by Sagicor Select Funds with 4.3 million units accounting for 23 percent of the day’s trade and Sagicor Group with 796,501 shares for 4 percent of the market’s trade.
The Market closed with an average of 531,413 units valued at an average of $6,719,808 for each security traded, in contrast to 913,788 units valued at an average of $7,609,375 on Friday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 1,067,905 units valued at $9,578,929 and previously an average of 1,101,922 units valued at $9,772,487 for each security traded. The market closed out August with an average of 1,743,431 units valued at $9,907,963 for each security traded.

Jamaica Broilers ended at $36 after climbing $1 with 4,249 shares changing hands, Jamaica Producers declined by $1.50, settling at $23.50 with 6,800 shares traded, Jamaica Stock Exchange lost 49 cents in exchanging 11,962 shares to end at $25.51, Kingston Wharves closed $8 lower to a 52 weeks’ low of $52 in trading 1,747 shares. NCB Financial settled at $208, after dropping $6.90 with 622,798 units traded, Proven Investments gained 49 cents to end the day’s trade at $37.49 with 1,953 shares changing hands, Pulse Investments traded 35 cents lower to close at $3.05, in exchanging 27,095 shares. Sagicor Group lost $3 to settle at $67 in trading 796,501 shares, Salada Foods fell $1 to $31, after exchanging just 500 shares, Seprod ended the day’s trade $1.70 lower to settle at $54.40 with 20,647 units changing hands. Supreme Ventures lost $1 to end at $27 exchanging 327,441 shares, Sygnus Credit Investments gained 78 cents after trading 66,897 shares to settle at $23.88 and Wisynco lost 47 cents, settling at $23.40 with trades of 115,428 units.
Trading in the US dollar market ended with 7,162 units valued at over US$1,751 with the market index gaining 2.98 points to close at 199.86. Proven Investments traded 6,644 shares to close at 26 US cents and Sterling Investments added 0.7 of a cent, in settling at a 52 weeks’ high of 4.5 US cents after trading 518 shares.

Access fall sinks Junior Market – Monday

Access Financial Services’ traded at a 52 weeks’ low of $34.85 on Monday.

Access Financial Services dropped $5.14 to help knock 50.49 points off the Market Index at the end of trading on Monday following an announcement of a proposal to sell 68.6 million shares owned by Proven Investments at $32 each.
The Junior Market fall pushed the index to close at 3,398.78 on Monday with 29 securities changing hands, resulting in the prices of 11 securities gaining, 14 declined and 4 remained unchanged.
At the close of trading, 2,155,083 units valued at $9,679,894 passed through the market, compared to 2,702,763 units valued at $10,370,231 with 26 securities changing hands on Friday.
Trading ended with an average of 74,313 units at $333,789 for each security exchanged, in contrast to 103,952 units for an average of $398,855 on Friday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to units 1,192,684 valued at $3,076,854 and previously 1,269,357 valued at $3,264,913 for each security traded. JSE closed down but most stocks rise

Trading on the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange ended on Friday with advancing stocks outnumbering declining ones two to one but the market indices ended down.
At the close of trading, 37 securities changed hands in the main and US dollar markets with 19 advancing, 10 declining and 8 traded firm. The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index lost 257.65 points to close at 564,991.17, the JSE Index dipped 287.95 points to 514,143.38 and the JSE Financial Index closed down 0.42 points at 140.19.
Market activity ended with 36 securities trading and leading to 32,896,372 units valued at $273,937,492 crossing the exchange, in contrast to 127,989,935 units valued at $1,190,939,292 from 36 securities on Thursday.
Wigton Windfarm dominated trading with 18.4 million shares for 56 percent of total volume, followed by Carreras with 8.1 million units accounting for 25 percent of the day’s trade, Sagicor Select Funds with 2.4 million shares for 7 percent of the market’s trade.
The Market closed with an average of 913,788 units valued at an average of 7,609,375 for each security traded, in contrast to 3,555,276 units valued at an average of $33,081,647 on Thursday. Salada Foods climbed $2 to $32, after exchanging 60,276 shares, Scotia Group gained 50 cents to end at $57.50 with trades of 77,639 shares, Seprod advanced $2.59 to settle at $56.10 with 4,900 units changing hands. Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded the most stocks on Thursday.

The main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange enjoyed a bounce on Thursday with the main market indices rising as advancing just inched out declining ones.
he All Jamaican Composite Index jumped 2,913.59 points to close at 565,248.82, the JSE Index climbed 2,606.47 points to 514,431.33 and the JSE Financial Index gained 1.04 points to close at 140.61.
At the close of trading, 39 securities changed hands in the main and US dollar markets with 14 advancing, 13 declining while 12 traded firm. Main market activity ended with 36 securities trading comprising 127,989,935 units for $1,190,939,292, in contrast to 36,372,802 units valued at $343,567,278 on Wednesday from 33 securities.
Sagicor Real Estate Fund dominated trading with 92.4 million shares for 72 percent of total volume, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 22.4 million units accounting for 17.5 percent of the day’s trade, Carreras with 5.2 million shares for 4 percent and Sagicor Select Fund traded 3.2 million shares for 2.5 percent of the market trade.

JSE main market slips again

The Jamaica Stock Exchange ended with 12 securities rising, 13 with losses and 13 traded firm as 38 securities traded on Wednesday, compared to 34 stocks trading on Tuesday.
The market closed with the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index declining 11,780.29 points to close at 562,335.23, the JSE Index dropped 1,615.40 points to 511,824.86 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.57 points to close at 139.57.
Market activity ended with 36,372,802 units valued at over $343,567,278, in contrast to 39,479,470 units valued at $797,391,912 on Tuesday.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with over 22 million shares for 60.5 percent of total volume, followed by Supreme Ventures with 6.8 million units accounting for 19 percent of the day’s trade and Sagicor Select Fund with over 3.6 million shares for 10 percent of the main market’s volume.
The Market closed with an average of 1,102,206 units valued at an average of $10,411,130 for each security traded, in contrast to 1,161,161 units valued at an average of $23,452,703 on Tuesday. The Jamaica Stock Exchange ended with 18 rising, 12 with losses and 4 traded firm as a total of 34 securities traded on Tuesday compared to 33 trading on Monday.
The market closed with the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index declining 1,054.51 points to end at 564,115.52, the JSE Index dropped 1,119.61 points to 513,440.26 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.46 points to close at 140.14.
Market activity ended with 39,479,470 units valued at $797,391,912, in contrast to 86,270,254 units valued at $128,945,815 on Monday.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with over 20 million shares for 52 percent of total volume, followed by Caribbean Cement with 5 million units accounting for 13 percent of the day’s trade and Sagicor Select Fund with over 4 million shares for 11 percent of the main market’s volume.
The Market closed with an average of 1,161,161 units valued at an average of $23,452,703 for each security traded. In contrast to 2,875,675 units for an average of $4,298,194 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 919,467 units valued at $7,873,621 and previously an average of 899,570 shares for $6,472,327 for each security traded. The market closed out August with an average of 1,743,431 units valued at $9,907,963 for each security traded.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading shows 10 stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and 3 with lower offers.
In main market activity, Barita Investments gained 80 cents to settle at $74 with 25,856 shares changing hands,  Caribbean Cement slipped $3.19 to end at $76.81 with 5,007,970 stock units trading. Eppley Caribbean Property Fund dropped $1.90 to end at an all-time low of $38 while trading 1,610 shares, Jamaica Broilers lost $1.55 to settle at $32.45 with 1,000,993 shares changing hands, Jamaica Stock Exchange declined by $1 to end at $26, trading 25,902 shares. JMMB Group gained 80 cents to settle at $48 with 10,426 shares changing hands. Kingston Wharves lost $1.99 to end at $62.01, in trading 4,138 shares, Mayberry Jamaican Equities lost $1 to end at $11.50, trading 3,000 shares, NCB Financial rose $4 to end at $213, with an exchange of 532,498 stock units, Panjam Investment rose 98 cents in trading of 12,485 units to close at $101.98. Sagicor Group added 49 cents to settle at $71.50 with 37,183 shares changing hands, Scotia Group fell 49 cents to close at $57 with an exchange of 23,164 shares, Seprod lost $2.50 to settle at $54 with 34,752 shares changing hands and Wisynco Group gained 50 cents in trading 133,235 shares at $25.
Trading in the US dollar market ended with 6,994 units valued at US$1,430 as Proven Investments traded 4,742 units at 26 US cents followed by Sterling Investments gained 1.6 US cents to close at 3.8 US cents and Margaritaville closed 3 US cents higher to settle at 52 weeks’ high of 28 US cents. The JSE USD Equities Index gained 4.82 points to close at 199.27.

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Tuesday with a sharp drop in the market Index by 42.90 points to close at 3,448.34 as declining stocks edged out advancers by more than 2 to 1.
 IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading was negative and pointing to the possibility of more declines as 4 stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and 8 closing with lower offers.
At the close of market activities, the prices of 7 securities advanced, 17 declined and 6 remained unchanged with 30 securities changing hands, compared to 29 on Monday and resulting in an exchange of 2,481,939 units valued at $10,695,407 compared to 1,582,639 units valued at $10,125,399 on Monday.
Some of the selling may be due to some investors seeking funds to buy into either the Barita Investments rights issue or the QWI Investments IPO. Both issues will close this week and help ease some selling pressure.
Trading ended with an average of 82,731 units for an average of $356,514 in contrast to 54,574 units for an average of $349,152 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to units 1,378,282 valued at $3,071,604 and previously 1,502,456 units for $3,331,836. August ended with an average of 232,398 units valued at $1,072,851 for each traded security.
Stocks closing with price changes| Blue Power climbed $1.10 to settle at $9.50 with 6,930 shares changing hands, CAC 2000 lost $1.90 cents in trading 680 shares to close at $13.10, Caribbean Producers lost 5 cents in trading of 61,510 units at $4.75, Caribbean Cream traded 52,960 shares, after rising 90 cents to end at $5.25. Dolphin Cove lost 75 cents in trading a mere 103 shares to close at $11, Everything Fresh closed trading of 242,140 units and gained 4 cents to end at $1.29, Elite Diagnostic shed 9 cents trading of 111,207 units at $5.46, Fontana ended trading 98,204 shares, after rising 24 cents to end at $7.75. General Accident declined 79 cents in trading of 475,434 units at $5.55 after the price rose to $6.40 following the announcement of the acquisition of 55 percent interest in the Trinidad based general insurance company, Motor One Insurance. GWest Corporation closed with a loss of 15 cents at $1.05, in swapping of 45,274, shares, Honey Bun declined 19 cents in trading 54,375 units at $5.81, iCreate declined 2 cents in trading 172,657 units at 77 cents, Indies Pharma traded 26,887 shares for 6 cents lower to settle at $3.37. Iron Rock Insurance exchanged 3,000 shares after rising 59 cents to end at $3.95, Jamaican Teas declined by 30 cents to settle at $6 in trading 362,394 shares, Knutsford Express fell 10 cents in trading of 5,641 units at $10.90, Key Insurance lost 20 cents in trading 100 shares to close at a 52 weeks’ low of $2.80. Limners and Bards lost 4 cents trading 165,769 units at $2.96, Lasco Distributors ended with a loss of 1 cent at $3.49 with 54,665 stock units changing hands, Lasco Financial dipped 50 cents in trading of 212,070 units to end at $4.50. Lasco Manufacturing dipped 21 cents in exchanging 25,049 units at $5.30, Main Event closed 95 cents higher at $6.95, with 1,000 stock units trading, Stationery and Office Supplies declined by $1.95 to settle at $11.05 but with 7,594 shares being traded and tTech closed trading of 355 units and gaining 89 cents to end at $5.90.
