More Junior Market stocks rose

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Wednesday with a slight dip in the market Index of 3.64 points to close at 3,444.70 as more stocks rose than declined.

At the close of market activities, the prices of 11 securities advanced, 7 declined and 9 remained unchanged with 27 securities changing hands, compared to 30 on Monday and resulting in an exchange of 53,025,384 units valued at $252,714,577 compared to 2,481,939 units valued at $10,695,407 on Tuesday.
Trading ended with an average of 1,963,903 units for an average of $9,359,799 in contrast to 82,731 units for an average of $356,514 on Tuesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to units 1,421,017 valued at $3,530,472 and previously 1,502,456 units for $3,331,836. August ended with an average of 232,398 units valued at $1,072,851 for each traded security.
Stocks closing with price changes| AMG Packaging ended market activity exchanging 471,175 shares to close at $1.80 after falling 20 cents, Caribbean Producers climbed 5 cents after investors exchanged 51,245,360 shares to close at $4.80, Derrimon Trading climbed 8 cents and exchanged 12,870 shares at $2.55. Elite Diagnostic climbed 24 cents and exchanged 25,332 shares at $5.70, Everything Fresh lost 3 cents in trading 71,727 shares to close at $1.26, Express Catering fell 50 cents in trading of 18,368 units at $6. Fontana closed 35 cents higher at $8.10, with 227,440 stock units trading, General Accident climbed 85 cents and exchanged 108,732 shares at $6.40 but only after it traded at an intraday high of $7.20. Honey Bun ended trading with 10,317 shares, after rising 18 cents to end at $5.99, Indies Pharma climbed 8 cents and exchanged 28,817 shares at $3.45, Iron Rock Insurance added 5 cents in exchanging 76,090 shares at $4. Limners and Bards ended with a loss of 1 cent at $2.95 with 166,362 stock units changing hands, Lasco Distributors dipped 19 cents in trading 174,577 units at $3.30, Lasco Financial closed trading of 11,430 units and gained 50 cents to end at $5. Lasco Manufacturing ended trading with 18,696 shares, after rising 16 cents to end at $5.46, Main Event declined by $1.38 to settle at $5.57, Stationery and Office Supplies closed trading of 58,500 units and gained 45 cents to end at $11.50 and tTech fell 30 cents in trading of 20,111 units at $5.60.

JSE main market down again

The Jamaica Stock Exchange ended with 18 rising, 12 with losses and 4 traded firm as a total of 34 securities traded on Tuesday compared to 33 trading on Monday.
The market closed with the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index declining 1,054.51 points to end at 564,115.52, the JSE Index dropped 1,119.61 points to 513,440.26 and the JSE Financial Index lost 0.46 points to close at 140.14.
Market activity ended with 39,479,470 units valued at $797,391,912, in contrast to 86,270,254 units valued at $128,945,815 on Monday.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with over 20 million shares for 52 percent of total volume, followed by Caribbean Cement with 5 million units accounting for 13 percent of the day’s trade and Sagicor Select Fund with over 4 million shares for 11 percent of the main market’s volume.
The Market closed with an average of 1,161,161 units valued at an average of $23,452,703 for each security traded. In contrast to 2,875,675 units for an average of $4,298,194 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 919,467 units valued at $7,873,621 and previously an average of 899,570 shares for $6,472,327 for each security traded. The market closed out August with an average of 1,743,431 units valued at $9,907,963 for each security traded.

Eppley Caribbean Property Fund dropped $1.90 to end at an all-time low of $38 while trading 1,610 shares, Jamaica Broilers lost $1.55 to settle at $32.45 with 1,000,993 shares changing hands, Jamaica Stock Exchange declined by $1 to end at $26, trading 25,902 shares. JMMB Group gained 80 cents to settle at $48 with 10,426 shares changing hands. Kingston Wharves lost $1.99 to end at $62.01, in trading 4,138 shares, Mayberry Jamaican Equities lost $1 to end at $11.50, trading 3,000 shares, NCB Financial rose $4 to end at $213, with an exchange of 532,498 stock units, Panjam Investment rose 98 cents in trading of 12,485 units to close at $101.98. Sagicor Group added 49 cents to settle at $71.50 with 37,183 shares changing hands, Scotia Group fell 49 cents to close at $57 with an exchange of 23,164 shares, Seprod lost $2.50 to settle at $54 with 34,752 shares changing hands and Wisynco Group gained 50 cents in trading 133,235 shares at $25.
Trading in the US dollar market ended with 6,994 units valued at US$1,430 as Proven Investments traded 4,742 units at 26 US cents followed by Sterling Investments gained 1.6 US cents to close at 3.8 US cents and Margaritaville closed 3 US cents higher to settle at 52 weeks’ high of 28 US cents. The JSE USD Equities Index gained 4.82 points to close at 199.27.

 

Junior Market takes another hit

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Tuesday with a sharp drop in the market Index by 42.90 points to close at 3,448.34 as declining stocks edged out advancers by more than 2 to 1.
 IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading was negative and pointing to the possibility of more declines as 4 stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and 8 closing with lower offers.
At the close of market activities, the prices of 7 securities advanced, 17 declined and 6 remained unchanged with 30 securities changing hands, compared to 29 on Monday and resulting in an exchange of 2,481,939 units valued at $10,695,407 compared to 1,582,639 units valued at $10,125,399 on Monday.
Some of the selling may be due to some investors seeking funds to buy into either the Barita Investments rights issue or the QWI Investments IPO. Both issues will close this week and help ease some selling pressure.
Trading ended with an average of 82,731 units for an average of $356,514 in contrast to 54,574 units for an average of $349,152 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to units 1,378,282 valued at $3,071,604 and previously 1,502,456 units for $3,331,836. GWest Corporation closed with a loss of 15 cents at $1.05, in swapping of 45,274, shares, Honey Bun declined 19 cents in trading 54,375 units at $5.81, iCreate declined 2 cents in trading 172,657 units at 77 cents, Indies Pharma traded 26,887 shares for 6 cents lower to settle at $3.37. Iron Rock Insurance exchanged 3,000 shares after rising 59 cents to end at $3.95, Jamaican Teas declined by 30 cents to settle at $6 in trading 362,394 shares, Knutsford Express fell 10 cents in trading of 5,641 units at $10.90, Key Insurance lost 20 cents in trading 100 shares to close at a 52 weeks’ low of $2.80. Limners and Bards lost 4 cents trading 165,769 units at $2.96, Lasco Distributors ended with a loss of 1 cent at $3.49 with 54,665 stock units changing hands, Lasco Financial dipped 50 cents in trading of 212,070 units to end at $4.50. Lasco Manufacturing dipped 21 cents in exchanging 25,049 units at $5.30, Main Event closed 95 cents higher at $6.95, with 1,000 stock units trading, Stationery and Office Supplies declined by $1.95 to settle at $11.05 but with 7,594 shares being traded and tTech closed trading of 355 units and gaining 89 cents to end at $5.90.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange ended trading on Monday with the All Jamaican Composite Index rising 416.43 points to close at 565,170.03, the JSE Index rose 377.32 points to 514,559.87 and the JSE Financial Index inched 0.37 points to 140.60.
At the close of trading, 7 securities advanced, 12 declined and 14 traded firm as a total of 33 securities in the main and US dollar markets compared to 32 on Friday. Market activity ended with 86,270,254 units valued at $128,945,815, in contrast to 23,486,112 units at $198,066,208 on Friday.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 80 million shares for 93 percent of total volume, followed Sagicor Select Fund with 4.6 million units accounting for 5 percent of the day’s trade and Supreme Ventures with 296,337 shares for less than 1 percent of the main market’s volume.
The Market closed with an average of 2,875,675 units valued at an average of $4,298,194 for each security traded. In contrast to 671,032 units for an average of $5,659,034 on Friday. Trading in the US dollar market ended with 5,850 units valued at US$1,736. Proven Investments traded 3,600 units and gained 1 cent to end at 26 US cents followed by Sygnus Credit Investments with 2,000 units changing hands at 15 US cents and JMMB Group 5.5% preference shares with 250 units to settle at US$2. The Jamaica Stock Exchange ended trading on Friday with the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index rising 1,052.67 points to 564,753.60 even as declining stocks exceeded those rising.
The JSE Index climbed 890.78 points to 514,182.55 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.24 points to close at 140.23. At the close of trading, 9 advanced, 13 declined and 14 traded firm as  36 securities in the main and US market compared to 37 on Thursday. Trading in the main market ended with 23,486,112 units valued at $198,066,208, in contrast to 18,740,935 units valued at over $117,219,686 on Thursday.

Junior Market down but set to rise

The Junior Market Index slipped on Friday but IC bid-offer Indicator with a reading of 10 to 2 points to a positive opening for the market on Monday.
Trading ended with 24 securities changing hands up from 26 on Thursday and closing with prices of 10 securities advancing, 12 declining and 2 remaining unchanged. The Junior Market Index declined by 22.10 points to 3,460.88 as investors exchanged 1,829,747 units valued at $8,214,344 compared to 2,691,652 shares valued at $16,496,762 on Thursday.  
Trading ended with an average of 76,239 units at $342,264 for each security traded, in contrast to 246,113 units for an average of $1,216,423 on Thursday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 1,650,303 units valued at $3,636,406 and previously 1,795,602 units valued at $3,940,480 for each security traded. In contrast, August ended with an average of 232,398 units valued at $1,072,851 for each traded security.

More declines for JSE main market – Thursday

The Jamaica Stock Exchange ended trading on Thursday with The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index dropping 4,474.99 points to end at 563,700.93, the JSE Index declined by 3,932.73 points to 513,291.77.
The JSE Financial Index fell 1.84 points to close at 139.99. At the close of trading, 17 advanced, 15 declined and 5 traded firm as a total of 39 securities traded in the main and US markets compared to 36 securities trading on Wednesday. Market activity ended with 18,740,935 units valued at over $117,219,686, in contrast to 50,725,660 units valued at $109,446,038 on Wednesday.
Sagicor Select Fund led trading with 11.8 million shares for 63 percent of total volume, followed Wigton Windfarm with 3 million units accounting for 16 percent of the day’s trade and JMMB Group 7.50% preference share with 1 million shares for 5 percent of the main market’s volume.
The Market closed with an average of 506,512 units valued at an average of $3,168,100 for each security traded. In contrast to 1,449,305 units for an average of $3,127,030 on Wednesday. The Junior Market Index made a partial recovery on Thursday from the big 73 points fall on Wednesday and rose 41.16 points to close at 3,482.98 but with an equal number of stocks rising and falling.
The market ended trading with 26 securities changing hands and leading to the prices of 10 securities advancing, 10 falling and 6 remaining unchanged. Investors exchanged 2,691,652 shares valued at $16,496,762 compared to 2,931,663 units valued at $14,603,294 trading from 31 securities on Wednesday.
Trading ended with an average of 246,113 units for an average of $1,216,423 in contrast to 86,827 units for an average of $532,154 on Wednesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 1,795,602 units valued at $3,940,480 and previously 1,967,767 units valued at $4,243,153 for each security traded. Lasco Financial shed 28 cents in trading of 17,720 units at $5, Lasco Manufacturing closed trading of 1,855,600 units and gained 39 cents to end at $5.50 and tTech gained 1 cent to end at $5.01, in trading 10,956 shares.

At the close of the market, the Composite Index increased 2.06 points to 1,390.62. The All T&T Index rose 1.37 points to 1,747.92, while the Cross Listed Index gained 0.38 points to close at 140.01.

NCB Financial closed with a gain of 5 cents at $10.40, after 30,474 shares changed hands, Republic Financial gained 46 cents and completed trading at $121.75, with 1,611 units crossing the exchange, Trinidad Cement gained 1 cent and settled at $2.11, in swapping 55,202 units and Trinidad & Tobago NGL traded 3,212 units and gained 47 cents to close at $25.
Losses| First Citizens Bank shares fell 29 cents and settled at $40.10, with 3,860 units crossing the exchange and Sagicor Financial closed with a loss of 5 cents and settled at $10.15, after exchanging 950 shares.
Firm Trades| Angostura Holdings ended at $16.05, with 400 stock units changing hands, Clico Investment Fund concluded at $24.15, with 1,874 stock units trading, JMMB Group ended at $2.25, with 21,384 units crossing the exchange. National Flour closed at $1.68, in trading 10,000 units, Prestige Holdings ended at $8.10, with 7,092 units and Scotiabank ended at $58.34 after trading 2,118 units.
