Rising stocks beat losers on TTSE

Market activity ended on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange on Wednesday, with the volume of stocks traded rising 114 percent and the value 37 percent more than on Tuesday and resulted in 21 securities trading compared to 20 on Tuesday, with seven rising, three declining and 11 remaining unchanged.

The Composite Index dfell 1.35 points to 1,411.31, the All T&T Index rose 0.23 points to 2,061.35 and the Cross-Listed Index declined 0.43 points to close at 100.20.
A total of 470,813 shares traded for $4,736,023 up from 220,461 units at $3,466,758 on Tuesday, leading to an average of 22,420 units traded at $225,669 compared to 11,023 shares at $173,339 on Tuesday. The average trade for May amounts to 45,890 units at $370,328.
The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows two stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and two with lower offers.
At the close, Agostini’s ended at $47.25 while exchanging 15 shares, Angostura Holdings ended at $22.95, with 47 units clearing the market, Ansa McAl rose 40 cents to close at $56, with 420 stocks crossing the exchange, Calypso Macro Investment Fund popped $1 to end at a 52 weeks’ high of $21.50 in switching ownership of 450 stock units, Clico Investment Fund remained at $29 after an exchange of 3,500 stock units, Endeavour Holdings ended unchanged at $7.49 trading 404 shares. First Citizens Group finished at $53 after exchanging 3,203 stocks, FirstCaribbean International Bank fell 1 cent to end at a 52 weeks’ low of $5.24 in exchanging 3,040 units, GraceKennedy increased 3 cents to close at $5.64 in trading 245 stock units. Guardian Media remained at $3.04 in an exchange of 100 stocks, JMMB Group gained 10 cents to close at $2.50, with 100 shares crossing the market, Massy Holdings ended unchanged at $5.20, with 426,197 units changing hands. National Flour Mills advanced 15 cents to end at $1.80 with the swapping of 60 stock units, NCB Financial Group remained at $5.75 after trading 703 shares, One Caribbean Media finished at $4, with five stock units crossing the market. Prestige Holdings finished at $7 with an exchange of 14 units, Republic Financial Holdings shed 87 cents to $140.12 in exchanging 12,710 stock units, Scotiabank declined 1 cent to end at $77.99, with 386 stocks crossing the market. Trinidad & Tobago NGL ended unchanged at $20.99 after exchanging 14,712 units, Trinidad Cement rallied 5 cents ending at $3.55, trading 100 shares and Unilever Caribbean climbed 45 cents to close at $18.90 with an exchange of 4,402 stocks.
