Record high for JSE USD Market


The US Dollar Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed at a record high on Friday, closing August with gains of 40.7 percent, year to date, following a 22 percent increase in the number of shares changing hands, with a 29 percent lower value than on Thursday. The market closed with an exchange of 10 securities, down from 13 on Thursday and resulted in prices of five stocks rising, three declining and two ending unchanged.

The market closed with an exchange of 1,282,333 shares value at US$85,862, from 1,055,001 stock units at US$121,704 on Thursday.
Trading ended with an average of 128,233 shares at US$8,586 compared to 81,154 stock units at US$9,362 on Thursday, with a month to date average of 132,012 units at US$49,788 just slipping from 132,214 stock units at US$51,991 on the previous day and well lower than June with an average of 625,703 units for US$203,999.
The US Denominated Equities Index gained 3.35 points to close at a record high of 298.58. The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows four stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and none with a lower offer.

At the close of trading, AS Bryden fell 0.1 of a cent and closed at a 52 weeks low of 16.9 US cents with 2,400 units crossing the exchange, MPC Caribbean Clean Energy popped 3 cents to 23 US cents with investors trading 100 stocks, Proven Investments slipped 0.02 of one cent to close at 5.98 US cents with 2,500 shares passing through the market. Quantas Advantage popped 1 cent and ended at 11 US cents with trading in 3,033 stock units, Sterling Investments ended at 2 US cents with 199,459 shares crossing the market, Sygnus Credit Investments lost 0.03 of one cent to end at 5.04 US cents in an exchange of 4,221 stock units. Sygnus Real Estate Finance USD share remained at 5 US cents with investors trading 3,982 stocks and Transjamaican Highway rose 0.11 of one cent to a record high of 6.6 US cents in an exchange of 1,065,804 units.

In the preference segment, JMMB Group US8.5% rallied 2 cents to end at US$1.22, with 180 shares crossing the market and Productive Business Solutions 9.25% increased US$2.09 to close at US$13 after trading of 654 stock units.
