Market activity on the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange ended the first half of the year with a rise of 7 percent for the overall market by the close on Friday that compares favourably with a 2.5 percent decline at the same time last year.
The market closed with trading in 15 securities against 14 on Thursday, with 3 advancing, 4 declining and 8 remaining unchanged.
The Composite Index rose 0.67 points to 1,394.10, the All T&T Index slipped 0.15 points to 1,799.82 and is up 5.6 percent for the year to date, while the Cross Listed Index rose 0.21 points to close at 133.65 for a 10 percent rise in 2019. Trading ended with 622,719 shares valued $25,058,154 changing hands, compared to 81,690 shares valued $2,307,759 on Thursday.

Stocks ending with gains| Grace Kennedy rose 5 cents and ended at $3.25, with 99,600 stock units trading, JMMB Group closed with a gain of 4 cents at $2.09, after exchanging 2,000 shares and Trinidad Cement gained 5 cents to close at $2.55, with the trading of 550 stock units.
Stocks closing with losses| Guardian Holdings fell 10 cents and completed trading at $18.40, with 2,808 units crossing the exchange, One Caribbean Media share fell 1 cent and ended at $10.10, with 40,956 units, Sagicor Financial closed 6 cents and ended at $9.95, with 12,586 units and Trinidad & Tobago NGL shed 1 cent and settled at $28.51, with 48,343 units.
Stocks closing firm| Clico Investments ended at $24.30, with 250 units crossing the exchange, First Citizens Bank traded 620 stock units in settling at $40, Massy Holdings exchanged 412,801 units at $55, National Flour settled at $1.69, with 1,511 units crossing the exchange. Point Lisas completed trading of 500 units at $3.62, Republic Financial Holdings ended at $121, after swapping 150 shares and West Indian Tobacco completed trading of just 19 units at $110.27.
