The Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange ended trading on Wednesday, with a strong rise for some stock prices, with the day’s volume amounted to a mere 9 percent of the shares changing hands on Tuesday.
The market closed with twelve securities trading with the prices of three stocks advancing, three declining and six unchanged. The T&T Composite Index climbed 6.68 points to 1,321.95 and the All T&T Index jumped 13.86 points to 1,790.62, while the Cross Listed Index lost 0.08 points to close at 115.27.
The volume of stocks passing through the market amounted to 38,812 shares valued at $1,611,856 compared to 439,247 shares for $23,292,329 on Tuesday from 18 securities.
The average trade on Wednesday amounted to 3,234 units at $134,321 versus an average of 24,403 stock units for $1,294,018 for each security. The average traded for the month to date is 14,330 shares at $396,797, versus an average of 14,909 units at $410,492. July closed with an average of 12,712 shares for $166,390.
IC bid-offer Indicator│ The Investors Choice bid-offer indicator ended with the bids of four stocks higher than its last selling price and three with lower offers.
Stocks rising│ Guardian Holdings closed 28 cents higher at $19.48, in trading 10,948 shares, Massy Holdings advanced by $1.95 to $60, with 2,302 units changing hands and West Indian Tobacco ended at $36.70, with gains of $1.70 after transferring 1,000 units.
Stocks declining│ Clico Investments ended 3 cents lower at $27.75, with a transfer of 211 units, Endeavour Holdings traded 25 units to close at a 52 weeks’ low of $12.45, after losing 15 cents and Grace Kennedy lost 5 cents exchanging 450 units to finish at $3.45.
Stocks trading firm│ First Caribbean International traded of 26 shares and closed at $7, First Citizens Bank held firm at $46.10, with 1,000 units crossing the market, JMMB Group exchanged 5,520 stock units at $1.80. NCB Financial Group remained at $8, in transferring 184 units, Republic Financial Holdings traded 6,969 stock units at $141.50 and Trinidad and Tobago NGL closed at $17, with 10,177 stock units changing hands.
