Trading drops on the JSE USD Market


Trading activity softened for another day on the US Dollar Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Thursday, with the volume of stocks traded slipping by 24 percent with the value dipping 26 percent compared to Wednesday, following an exchange of 12 securities, up from 11 on Wednesday and ending with prices of four rising, three declining and five ending unchanged.

The market closed with an exchange of 345,233 shares for US$22,598 compared to 451,658 stock units at US$30,462 on Wednesday.
Trading ended with an average of 28,769 shares worth US$1,883 after slipping from 41,060 stocks at US$2,769 on Wednesday. Trading for the month to date, averages 50,619 units at US$4,111 compared with 56,197 stock units at US$4,679 on the preceding day and an average of 120,090 units for US$9,981.in September.
The US Denominated Equities Index increased 1.36 points to finish at 283.78. The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows one stock ended with a bid higher than the last selling price and four with lower offers.

At the close of trading, AS Bryden ended at 16.9 US cents with an exchange of 220 shares, First Rock Real Estate USD share remained at 2 US cents with 59 units passing through the market, Margaritaville increased 0.97 of a cent and ended at 7.41 US cents after an exchange of 11 units. Productive Business Solutions ended at 72.25 US cents with 323 stocks clearing the market, Proven Investments skidded 0.23 of a cent to end at 5.77 US cents in trading 16,094 shares, Quantas Advantage climbed 1.37 cents to finish at 16.37 US cents with 674 stocks crossing the market. Sterling Investments popped 0.18 of a cent to 2.28 US cents with investors trading 300 units, Sygnus Credit Investments gained 0.07 of a cent to end at 6.6 US cents with a transfer of 21,683 stock units, Sygnus Real Estate Finance USD share remained at 4.6 US cents in an exchange of 4,300 shares and Transjamaican Highway fell 0.03 of a cent to finish at 6.4 US cents after trading of 301,518 stocks.
In the preference segment, Productive Business Solutions 9.25% dipped 50 cents and ended at US$11.90 with 3 units crossing the exchange and Sygnus Credit Investments 8% ended at US$10 with investors dealing in 48 stock units.
