Trading suffered a steep drop on the of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Wednesday, with the volume and value of stocks traded declining 86 percent and 95 percent, respectively, compared to Tuesday, following an exchange of nine securities, similar to Tuesday with prices of three rising, four declining and two ending unchanged.
The market closed with an exchange of just 248,902 shares for US$17,256, in contrast with 1,795,092 stock units at US$332,328 on Tuesday.
Trading ended with an average of 27,656 shares at US$1,917, after dropping steeply from 199,455 stock units at US$36,925 on Tuesday, with a month to date average of 156,391 units at US$13,811 compared with 174,782 stock units at US$15,510 on the previous day and an average of 132,012 units for US$49,788 for July.
The US Denominated Equities Index popped a mere 0.63 points to close at 309.71. The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows one stock ended with a bid higher than the last selling price and none with a lower offer.

At the close of trading, First Rock Real Estate USD share skidded 0.07 of a cent to finish at 1.8 US cents in trading 11,200 stock units, Margaritaville ended at 5.01 US cents with 6,299 shares passing through the market, Proven Investments advanced 0.84 of a cent to 5.9 US cents with a transfer of 2,531 stocks. Quantas Advantage popped 0.28 of a cent to close at 9.8 US cents with 79 units clearing the market, Sterling Investments remained at 2 US cents after investors exchanged 43 stocks, Sygnus Credit Investments climbed 0.4 of one cent in closing at 5.4 US cents with investors swapping 10,857 shares. Sygnus Real Estate Finance USD share lost 0.01 of one cent to end at 4.99 US cents with investors trading 17 stock units and Transjamaican Highway slipped 0.44 of one cent and ended at 7.06 US cents in an exchange of 217,857 units.
In the preference segment, AS Bryden 6% fell 15 cents to end at 85 US cents after trading of 19 stocks.
