Trading climbs on the JSE USD Market


The US Dollar Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Monday, resulting in an exchange of nine securities, compared with 11 on Friday with prices of two rising, five declining and two ending unchanged. The volume of stocks traded rose 21 percent with 18 percent more value than on Friday.

The market closed with an exchange of 1,312,663 shares for US$93,471 compared to 1,084,551 stock units at US$79,042 on Friday.
Trading ended with an average of 145,851 shares at US$10,386, up from 98,596 stock units at US$7,186 on Friday, Trading closed with a month to date average of 85,636 units at US$6,674 compared with 72,418 stock units at US$5,859 on the previous day and August that ended with an average of 115,072 units for US$12,480.
The US Denominated Equities Index dipped 8.11 points to end at 307.34. The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows one stock ended with a bid higher than the last selling price and one with a lower offer.
The PE Ratio, one of the most used measures to determine appropriate stock values, averages 16.1. ICInsider.com compiles the earnings per share and the PE used in this report. The PE ratio is derived by dividing the last traded price of a stock by the earnings per share for the financial year ending around August 2026.
At the close of the day’s activity, AS Bryden ended at 17 US cents in switching ownership of just 2 units, First Rock Real Estate USD share popped 0.02 of a cent and ended at 1.87 US cents, with 1,137 stocks changing hands, Margaritaville remained at 5.89 US cents in an exchange of 100 shares. Proven Investments rose 0.1 of one cent to end at 5.7 US cents after an exchange of 78,934 stock units,  Quantas Advantage declined 0.21 of one cent to close at 10.81 US cents with an exchange of 900 shares, Sterling Investments lost 0.01 of one cent to end at 2.19 US cents with 396 stocks crossing the market. Sygnus Credit Investments dipped 0.15 of a cent to 5.75 US cents with a transfer of 35,798 units and Transjamaican Highway fell 0.18 of one cent and ended at 6.97 US cents after an exchange of 1,195,296 stock units.
In the preference segment, Sygnus Credit Investments 8% slipped 29 cents to US$9.61 after a transfer of 100 shares.
