The Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior market is trading at a new record high at the start of trading on Friday with the market Index crossing over the 4,100 level for the first time as the index hit a record high of 4,143.05 points having gained 70.49 points at the start, subsequent to the opening the index has hit a new high of 4,150.37.
Future Energy traded at a record $8 as the stocks continues its relentless rise since the start of the year, while another transport related stock, Tropical Battery hits a new high of $2.15 with trading in the stock frozen until minutes after 10.30 and recently listed Spur Tree Spices traded at a record $3.40.
With the lapse of 90 minutes of trading, the Junior Market is up over 100 points at a record 4173.97 at 11 am.
While the Junior Market chalks up record highs the Main Market remains under pressure and is down moderately at the open.
Junior Market hits new record of 4,174 points
JSE major indices at record high – Monday
Investors were responding to strong first quarter results in buying up 274,801 shares up to $79.50. Also contributing to the strong gains was Sagicor Group that closed at $47.50 up from a close of $44 on Friday.
The market is breaking the all time record closing high reached on November 29 last year of 433,307.22 on the All Jamaica index and 394,791.89 on the JSE Index. The market needs to close solidly above 440,000 points on the AJI for this rally to be sustained.
Some good signs are there present for a possible big day on Tuesday with NCB Financial that traded 2.12 million shares to close at $143.50, closing with a bid of $148, PanJam Investment that closed at $83 having a bid at $85. Wisynco Group closed at a record high of $12.50 have just less than 96,000 shares on offer between $12.50 and $16.
All Jamaica just 535 points from 400,000
The Jamaica Stock Exchange, started the final quarter of the year in record territory and is within just 535 points of the critical 400,000 points milestone at 9.35 am.
The market indices surged sharply with the All Jamaica Composite Index jumping 6,187.64 points to a record 399,464.93 and the JSE Index jumped 5,637.64 points to a record 363,957.75. The Junior Market had slipped just 1.38 points at the opening but rose 23.03 to 3,418.05 at 18 minutes after opening.
In the main market NCB Financial traded at $127.98 but with only 130 shares trading and Jamaica Producers traded up to $27.80.
All Jamaica breaks 366,000 points
Ending trading at a new record close on the first trading day of September, the Jamaica Stock Exchange climbed new intraday high on the second trading day of the month, with the All Jamaican Composite Index surging over 366,000 points level.
At 12 minutes after opening the All Jamaica Composite Index rose 2,142.96 points to a record 365,464.29 and by 28 minutes after opening it jumped 2,697.72 points to 366,019.05 and the JSE Index climbed 1,952.48 points to a record 332,979.28 and within 2 minutes of 10 o’clock it jumped 2,457.93 to a record 333,484.73
Later on, the market pulled back, with the all Jamaica Index up 1,751.53 to 365,072.86 and the JSE index gaining 1,595.84 to 332,622.64 as NCB Financial pulled back to $112.
The Junior Market lost 17.36 points to 3,255.01.
Major contributor to the early gains, is NCB Financial with a rise to $114.95 from a close of $112 on Monday.
