A fall of $4.98 in the price of National Commercial Bank (NCB) to $61.01 was not enough to do much damage to the main market indices in the morning session on Thursday, as a number of other stocks hit 52 weeks’ highs in trading.
Stocks trading at new highs include Jamaica Producers at $16.50, Mayberry Investments at $5.97, Scotia Group at $41, PanJam Investment at $34 and Sagicor Group at $33 and in the junior market Blue Power Group at $41, Consolidated Bakeries at $3.60 and in the US market Margaritaville Turks hit 29 US cents and Proven Investments at 25 US cents.
All major markets indices hit new records during the morning session but with moderate trading taking place. The all Jamaica Composite Index raced 3,590.01 points to 239,523.12 the Jamaica Stock Exchange Market Index surged 3,210.11 points to 218,550.79, the Jamaica Stock Exchange combined index jumped 3,189.0 points to 232,324.56 and the junior market index jumped 20.67 points to 2,885.60.
Securities changing hands, amount to 37 at 10:45 am compared to 39 trading on Wednesday at 10:15am. A total of 21 securities advanced and 6 declined, resulting in a volume of 2,909,426 shares changing hands, carrying a value of $46,637,055, versus 873,317 shares changing hands, carrying a value of $11,028,042,, the average trade for the early session amounted to 78,633 units, compared to 22,393 shares previously.
Jamaican stocks in record climb
AJI jumps 5,396 points to record 207,585 – Wednesday
Pan Jam Investment jumped $2.50 to a new high of $29.50 in trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, on Wednesday, after the market opened having been closed for the holidays and helped the main market indices to surge by 4,047 points 
on the all Jamaica Composite index at 10:45.
At 11:40 the strong> all Jamaica Composite Index surged by 5,395.82 points to 207,585.48, the Jamaica Stock Exchange Market Index jumped 4,824.83 points to an all-time high of 189,992.90, the Jamaica Stock Exchange combined index 4,426.36 points to a record high of 202,377.86 and the junior market index fell 4.65 to 2,548.52.
Market activity resulted in 26 securities traded at 10:45 am, compared to 20 on Friday at 10:45 am. A total of 9 securities advanced and 4 declined, resulting in a volume of 721,003 shares changing hands, carrying a value of $1,962,803, compared 272,207 shares changing hands, carrying a value of $4,538,567 on Friday. The average number of shares traded, amount to 27,731 units versus 13,610 units on Friday.
At 10:45, the all Jamaica Composite Index surged 4,047.12 points to a record 206,236.78, the Jamaica Stock Exchange Market Index jumped 3,618.86 points to an all-time high of 188,841.46, the Jamaica Stock Exchange combined index 3,321.81 points to a record high of 201,273.31 and the junior market index fell 3.31 to 2,549.86.
Slight fall for JSE on Tuesday
The Jamaica Stock exchange main market indices temporarily broke the winning streak with minor declines on Tuesday with the All Jamaica Composite Index slipping 37.23 points to end at 194,885.44. The JSE Market Index lost 33.30 points to finish at a record closing high of 178,324.34.
The JSE combined index fell 59.59 points to end at 190,169.62 with a gain for the year to date of 20 percent. Trading ended with only 33 securities trading. The prices of 11 stocks gained while 7 declined in the overall market, including 3 stocks rising and 3 falling, in the junior market.
At the close with 1,218,248 units valued at $9,074,534 changed hands, compared to 4,243,795 units valued at $24,651,644 changing hands on Monday. The junior market accounted for 918,920 units changing hands, valued at $5,225,495 of the stocks traded.
The average trade for the day in the main market ended at 16,629 shares and 253,298 units month to date. On Monday, an average of 31,898 units traded and for the month to date, 489,966 units, in comparison the average for the October was 220,811 units.

In market activity, Barita Investments had trading in 16,200 shares, to end at $5, Cable & Wireless rose by 3 cents in trading 38,352 units to close at 74 cents, Grace Kennedy dropped $2 and ended trading 45,489 units at $40. Jamaica Broilers closed at $14.90 with 4,634 shares changing hands,
Jamaica Producers traded 8,363 shares to end at $8.30, Jamaica Stock Exchange traded 106,532 shares and rose 1 cent to end at $5.52, Mayberry Investments traded 4,500 shares to close at $3.66. National Commercial Bank gained 5 cents and ended at $50.05 with 4,788 shares trading, PANJAM Investment traded 5,514 units at $24.50 after gaining 50 cents, Radio Jamaica lost 5 cents in trading 5,042 units to close at $1.30. Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 12,048 units with the price rising 1 cent to $10.26 and Scotia Group rose 29 cents with 16,400 shares changing hands to close at $32.
