The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange started trading on the final month of 2023 on a bearish tone on Friday, with the volume of stocks traded plunging 77 percent and the value 74 percent compared with trading on Thursday following trading of 41 securities trading down from 46 on Thursday and ended with 14 rising, 20 declining and seven closing unchanged.
Investors traded 4,811,921 shares for $11,579,633 compared with 20,658,101 units at $44,997,586 on Thursday.
Trading averaged 117,364 shares at $282,430 compared to 449,089 units at $978,208 on Thursday compared with November with an average of 262,280 units at $587,545.
Regency Petroleum led trading with 1.06 million shares for 22.1 percent of total volume followed by EduFocal with 966,631 units for 20.1 percent of the day’s trade and One Great Studio with 583,653 units for 12.1 percent market share.
At the close, the Junior Market Index shed 14.05 points to settle at 3,757.04.

Junior Market surged into month end

Trading closed on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Thursday, with the volume of stocks traded declining 62 percent and the value 64 percent lower than Wednesday even as eight securities traded more than 1 million shares following activity in 46 securities trading similar to Wednesday and ended with prices of 27 rising, nine declining and 10 closing unchanged.
At the close, the Junior Market Index advanced 76.62 points to lock up trading at 3,771.09 with the market closing 91.78 points lower than the October close and is down 5.4 percent for the year to date.
Investors traded 20,658,101 shares for $44,997,586 compared to 54,284,961 units at $125,759,136 on Wednesday.
Trading averaged 449,089 shares at $978,208, compared with 1,180,108 units at $2,733,894 on Wednesday with the month to date, averaging 262,280 units at $587,545 versus 252,391 units at $566,865 on the previous day, and below October’s average of 361,392 units at $863,984.
ONE on ONE Educational led trading with 3.58 million shares for 17.3 percent of total volume followed by Regency Petroleum with 3.43 million units for 16.6 percent of the day’s trade, Spur Tree Spices ended with 3.15 million units for 15.3 percent of the day’s trade, Image Plus chipped in with 2.01 million units for 9.8 percent market share, Future Energy had an exchange of 1.91 million units for 9.2 percent of trading and Indies Pharma with 1.72 million units for 8.3 percent of total volume.

Trading jumped sharply on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Wednesday, with Indies Pharma trading with 48 million shares and swelled the volume of stocks trading by 787 percent and the value 674 percent more than Tuesday following trading in 46 securities compared with 40 on Tuesday and ended with 19 rising, 20 declining and seven closing unchanged.
Investors traded 54,284,961 shares at $125,759,136 compared to 6,118,187 units at $16,249,732 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 1,180,108 shares at $2,733,894 compared to 152,955 units at $406,243 on Tuesday. Big fall for Junior Market on Thursday

Trading closed on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Thursday, with the volume of stocks traded declining 88 percent and the value 79 percent lower than Wednesday and sent the market in a major fall of more than 84 points after trading took place in only 34 securities down from 42 on Wednesday and ended with 10 rising, 19 declining and five closing unchanged after Dolphin Cove traded at an intraday high of $19.97 but closed lower and JFP Ltd hit an intraday low of $1.23 before the price rebounded to close the day higher.

Trading surged over Friday’s levels on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange at the close on Monday, with the volume of stocks traded jumping 1,320 percent valued 1,375 percent more than Friday after trading ended with an exchange of 43 securities compared with 40 on Friday and ended with declining stocks overwhelming the nine with the price increases and ended with 27 declining and seven closing unchanged.
Investors traded 24,523,793 shares for $60,261,332 compared with 1,727,434 units at $4,084,376 on Friday as Future Energy traded over 8 million valued just under $30 million and Tropical Battery with 12 million shares at near $23 million.
Tropical Battery led trading with 12.03 million shares for 49 percent of total volume followed by Future Energy with 8.25 million units for 33.6 percent of the day’s trade and One Great Studio with 856,430 units for 3.5 percent market share.
Trading averaged 570,321 shares at $1,401,426 compared with 43,186 shares at $102,109 on Friday, with the month to date, averaging 158,559 units at $395,758 compared with 105,067 stock units at $265,112 on the previous day. October closed with an average of 361,392 units at $863,984.
At the close, the Junior Market Index dipped 62.76 points to 3,765.99.
The Junior Market ended trading with an average PE Ratio of 11.6, based on last traded prices in conjunction with earnings projected by ICInsider.com for the financial years ending around August 2024.

Caribbean Cream fell 23 cents and ended at $3.36 following trading of 7,500 units, Caribbean Flavours dropped 28 cents to end at $1.03 after 111,177 stocks passed through the exchange, Consolidated Bakeries shed 21 cents in closing at $2.05 as passed 8,122 units through the market. Derrimon Trading declined 13 cents to $1.85 in an exchange of 218,483 shares, Dolphin Cove skidded 95 cents to end at $15.55 with traders dealing in 4,089 stock units, EduFocal lost 15 cents and ended at $1.95, with 423,246 shares crossing the market. Fontana fell 9 cents to close at $10.89 with a transfer of 91,148 stocks, GWest Corporation declined 13 cents to close at 90 cents with investors exchanging 133,087 units, Honey Bun shed 28 cents and ended at $6.39 in switching ownership of 41,280 stock units. Jamaican Teas popped 10 cents to end at $2.18, with 150,000 shares changing hands, Jetcon Corporation dropped 24 cents to close at 70 cents with shareholders swapping 79,000 stocks, Lasco Manufacturing skidded 23 cents to end at $4.50 after 6,143 units crossed the market. Lumber Depot dipped 13 cents to $2.50 while exchanging 4,339 stock units, Main Event increased 14 cents to end at $14.60 with 68 shares clearing the market, Medical Disposables fell 14 cents in closing at $3.36 in trading 6,806 units and MFS Capital Partners dipped 8 cents to close at $1.92 with investors transferring 224,968 stocks.

Trading rises on Junior Market

Trading bounced sharply on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Wednesday, with the volume of stocks traded rising 73 percent, with the value 128 percent more than Tuesday after trading in 44 securities compared with 39 on Tuesday and ended with prices of 13 rising, 18 declining and 13 closing unchanged.
Investors traded 5,519,040 shares for $16,710,818 up from 3,189,510 units at $7,343,915 on Tuesday.
Trading averaged 125,433 shares at $379,791, much higher than the 81,782 units at $188,306 on Tuesday with the month to date, averaging 117,927 units at $284,547 compared with 116,323 stock units at $264,203 on the previous day. October closed with an average of 361,392 units at $863,984.
Future Energy led trading with 1.29 million shares for 23.4 percent of the day’s total volume, and was followed by JFP Ltd with 468,116 units for 8.5 percent of the day’s trade and EduFocal with 405,072 units for 7.3 percent market share.
At the close, the Junior Market Index dipped 39.04 points to close at 3,802.02.

Dolphin Cove shed 47 cents and ended at $15.53, with 200 stocks crossing the market, EduFocal rose 10 cents to close at $2.27 in trading 405,072 units, Everything Fresh skidded 8 cents in closing at $1.70 after an exchange of 592 shares. Future Energy rallied 10 cents to end at $3.70 after 1,292,066 units passed through the market, ISP Finance popped $4.02 in closing at $30.79 with an exchange of 123 stocks, Jamaican Teas dipped 10 cents to $2.10 and closed, with an exchange of 195,166 stock units. Jetcon Corporation gained 15 cents and ended at 94 cents while exchanging 93 shares, KLE Group fell 40 cents to end at a 52 weeks’ low of $1.10 with traders dealing in 2,347 units, Knutsford Express advanced $1.05 to close at $12.30 in switching ownership of 1,200 stocks. Lasco Distributors skidded 13 cents to $4.15 after exchanging 118,405 stock units, Medical Disposables popped 15 cents to end at $3.50 with a transfer of 20,500 shares, Regency Petroleum lost 11 cents in closing at $2.12 with stakeholders exchanging 52,064 stocks.
