JSE USD market starts new year with gains

The US dollar market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed trading on Monday, with the market rising after trading 55.79 percent more shares than on Thursday, resulting in more stocks rising than falling.
The market closed with six securities changing hands, similar to trading on Thursday and ended with the prices of three stocks rising, one declining and two remaining unchanged.
JSE USD equity index gained 3.14 points to end at 189.44 with a gain of 1.7 percent for the year to date. The average PE Ratio ended at 13.3 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 233,146 shares at US$14,502 compared to 527,314 units at US$47,035 on Thursday.
Trading averaged 38,858 units at US$2,417, in contrast to an average of 87,886 shares at US$7,839 on Thursday. By comparison, December ended with an average of 55,388 units for US$6,412.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows one stock ended with the bid higher than their last selling price and none with lower offers.
At the close of trading, First Rock Capital Investment rose 1.18 cents in closing at 8.99 US cents, clearing the market with 11,785 shares, Margaritaville rose 1 cent to close at 11 US cents trading 951 stocks, Productive Business Solutions carved out a gain of 4 cents and ending at 79 US cents crossing through the exchange 1,500 shares. Proven Investments shed 1.9 cents to settle at 24 US cents in an exchange of 4,132 stocks, Sygnus Credit Investments settled at 16 US cents in trading 61,789 stocks and Transjamaican Highway settled at 0.83 US cents after exchanging 152,989 shares.

Tepid trading in the JSE USD market

The few stocks trading on Monday closed with unchanged prices on the US dollar market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, with the market index closing unchanged after 34 percent fewer shares changed hands with a 91 percent fall in value than Friday.
Only three securities changed hands versus six on Friday. At the close, the JSE USD equity index was unchanged at 190.78 points. The average PE Ratio ended at 13.3 based on ICInsider.com’s forecast of 2020-21 earnings.
The market closed with an exchange of 54,899 shares, at US$716 compared to 83,576 units at US$7,818 on Friday.
Trading averaged 18,300 units changing hands at US$239, in contrast to an average of 13,929 shares at US$1,303 on Friday. Trading ended with an average of 54,703 units for the month to date at US$7,867 in contrast to 56,286 units at US$8,199 on the prior trading day. By comparison, November ended with an average of 51,134 units for US$4,516.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading shows no stock ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and one with a lower offer.
At the close of trading, Margaritaville ended at 11 US cents trading 2,000 shares, Sygnus Credit Investments traded 100 stocks at 15.7 US cents and Transjamaican Highway closed at 0.91 of a US cent with investors switching ownership of 52,799 stock units.

Trading plunges on the JSE US market

Trading plunged ended on the JSE US market with six securities changing hands with a mere 12,538 shares for $782, crossing the market with an exchange compared to 7,399,364 units at $123,152 from six stocks on Tuesday.
At the close, the prices of 3 stocks rising, two declining and one closing with the price unchanged and leading to a 0.96 points increase in the market index to end at 182.73. The average PE Ratio of the JSE US Dollar Market ended at 15.2 based on IC Insider.com forecasted 2020-21 earnings.
An average of 2,090 units for $130 for each security traded on Wednesday in contrast to an average of 1,233,227 shares at $20,525 for each stock exchanged on Tuesday. June closed with an average of 281,680 units at $46,787 for each security traded.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading for the JSE US Dollar market shows two stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and one with a lower offer.
At the close of the market, First Rock Capital traded 1,299 units at 10 US cents, Margaritaville lost 1.9 cents in the transfer of 250 units and closed at 16 US cents, Proven Investments gained 0.99 of a cent to close at 23 US cents after an exchange of 2,117 shares.  Just one unit of Sygnus Credit Investments changed hands at 13.01 US cents and Transjamaican Highway closed at one US cent, with 8,836 stock units changing hands after losing one-tenth of a cent.
In the preference segment, JMMB Group 6% gained 7 cents, closing at US$1.06 with an exchange of a mere 35 units.

Volume rises on JSE US$ market

Trading remained subdued on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market on Wednesday as investors exchanged just over 100,000 stocks as market activity resulted in five securities changing hands, similar to Tuesday.
Traded ended with the prices of three stocks declining and two closing unchanged. Trading ended with 102,201 shares at US$28,100 changing hands, in contrast to 57,099 units at US$26,170 on Monday.
At the close, the market declined by 1.93 points to 186.86. The PE ratio of the market closed with an average of 13 times IC Insider.com projected 2020 earnings.
At the close of market activity, First Rock Capital lost 1.15 cents in trading 8,000 stock units at 9.35 US cents, Margaritaville exchanged 1,106 units at 18 US cents, Proven Investments fell 1.44 cents after exchanging 74,433 units and closed at 23.46 US cents and Trans Jamaican Highway ended at 0.99 of a US cent, after trading 8,662 units.
In the preference segment, JMMB Group 6% preference share traded 10,000 stock units and lost a fraction of a cent to close at 99 US cents.

More slippage for JSE US$ market

unitsThe JSE US dollar Market closed on Wednesday with further slippage in the market index and with more securities trading, but the volume exchanged slipped slightly below Tuesday’s level.
Market activity resulted in five securities changing hands, compared to three on Tuesday. The market closed with the prices of one stock advancing, two declining and one remaining unchanged. Trading ended with 359,890 shares with a value of US$61,624 changing hands, in contrast to 649,264 shares with a value of US$121,654 from the trading of four securities on Tuesday.
At the close, the market index fell by 1.99 points to 187.00 and the PE ratio of the market closed with an average of 12.8 times 2020 earnings.
At the close of market activity, Margarataville exchanged 1,089 shares and closed unchanged at 18 US cents, Proven Investments ended trading 250,000 shares to settle at 22 US cents, Sterling Investments lost four-tenth of a cent in trading 1,966 stock units at 1.9 cents. Sygnus Credit Investments closed at 13 US cents, after gaining one-tenth of a cent in exchanging 44,700 units and Trans Jamaican Highway ended the day at 0.93 US cents, having shed one-fifth of a cent after transferring 62,135 shares.

Low trading on JSE US$ market

Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market remains subdued on Thursday, even as the number of active securities rose over that on Wednesday as the market continues to consolidate.
At the close of market activity, six securities changed hands, down from five on Wednesday. Trading ended with the prices of two stocks rising, one declining and three remaining unchanged. Just 232,148 shares changed hands at US$6,140, in contrast to 253,911 units for US$25,811 on Wednesday.
At the close, the market lost 0.92 points to 189.26 and the PE ratio of the market closed with an average of 13.2 times 2020 earnings.
In trading activity, First Rock Capital gained 1 cent and closed at 9 US cents, with 8,584 units changing hands, Margaritaville traded 700 units at 18 US cents, Proven Investments ended at 22.5 US cents, after picking up half a cent after exchanging 13,792 stock units. Sygnus Credit Investments closed at 13 US cents with 857 units crossing the exchange and Trans Jamaican ended at 0.99 US cents after transferring 208,169 shares.
In the preference segment, JMMB Group 6% shed 6 cents to close at $1 with an exchange of a mere 46 units.

JSE US$ Market index rises

The Jamaica Stock Exchange, US dollar market, had an increased number of stocks changing hands on Wednesday as overall volume and value trading rose.   
Market activity resulted in five securities changing hands, with three declining and two remained unchanged. The volume of shares traded was 253,911 units with a value of US$25,811, in contrast to 159,533 units for US$23,544 from three securities changing hands on Monday.
At the close, the market gained 2.96 points to 190.18. The PE ratio of the market closed with an average of 13 times 2020 earnings.
At the close of trading, First Rock Capital lost 1 cent trading 61,000 shares and closed at 8 US cents, Margaritaville Turks exchanged 23,800 shares at 18 US cents, Proven Investments shed half of a cents to end at 22 US cents after transferring 67,884 shares. Sygnus Credit Investments closed at 13 US cents, with 1,277 units changing hands and Trans Jamaican lost 0.01 of a cent trading 100,000 shares to end at 0.99 US cents.

Trading picks up on JSE US$ market

Trading on the Jamaica Stock Exchange US dollar market fell Friday, with shares of seven companies changing hands, up from just two on Thursday, but with higher volume and value.
Market activity ended with prices of two stocks closing up, two falling and three remained unchanged. Investors exchanged 57,581 shares for US$12,255, in contrast to 29,646 units valued at US$6,434, from the trading of just two securities on Thursday.
At the close, the market index lost 0.62 points to end at 190.39 and the PE ratio of the market closed with an average of 13.1 times 2020 earnings.
At the end of trading, Equityline Mortgage Investments preference share lost half of a cent with 100 units changing hands at $1.95, First Rock Capital gained half a cent in exchanging 850 shares at 8.99 US cents, Margaritaville traded 800 stock units at 18 US cents. Proven Investments exchanged 50,000 shares to end at 23.35 US cents, Sterling Investments added 0.3 of a cent as investors switched ownership of 2,165 units, Sygnus Credit Investments ended at 13 US cents after exchanging 666 units and Trans Jamaican exchanged 3,000 shares and lost 0.01 of a cent to end at 0.093 of a US cent.

JSE US$ stocks trading climb

The Jamaica Stock Exchange, US dollar market, enjoyed a bounce in the number of securities trading on Monday, but the volume of stocks changing hands fell from Friday’s numbers.
Market activity ended in seven securities changing hands, with two advancing while five remained unchanged. Investors exchanged 355,751 units at US$22,821, in contrast to 1,343277 units for US$36,373 on Friday.
At the close, the market index gained 1.07 points to 188.04 and the PE ratio of the market closed with an average of 13 times 2020 earnings.
At the end of trading, First Rock Capital exchanged 316 units at 9 US cents, Margaritaville closed at 18 US cents after transferring 100 units, Proven Investments gained of 0.3 of a cent while trading 76,843 shares to end at 22.8 US cents. Sterling Investments swapped 222,314 shares at 2 US cents, Sygnus Credit Investments ended at 13 US cents after exchanging 2,000 units and Trans Jamaican Highway held firm at 1 US cent in transferring 54,158 shares.
In the preference segment, JMMB Group 5.75% preference share gained 15 cents trading 20 units to finish at US$2.

JSE US$ market down 17% in 2020

Jamaica Stock Exchange, US dollar market, lost ground on Friday with the market dropping 5.58 points to 186.97 as six securities changed hands, with two declining and four finishing unchanged.
Friday’s decline brings the year to date loss to 17.4 percent as a number of the stocks pulled back from the highs they were trading at earlier in the year. At the close of trading, the PE ratio of the market ended with an average of 13.0 times 2020 earnings.
Market activity resulted in 1,343,277 units trading with a value of US$36,373, in contrast to 851,302 units for US$82,312 on Thursday.
In trading activity, First Rock Capital transferred 4,427 units at 9 US cents, Margaritaville Turks traded 3,000 units at 18 US cents, Proven Investments loss of 0.3 of a cent and closed at 22.5 US cents with an exchange of 101,304 shares. Sterling Investments lost 0.3 of a cent in swapping 4,331 units to end at 2 US cents, Sygnus Credit Investments traded 10,918 stock units at 13 US cents and Trans Jamaican Highway was unchanged at 1 US cent transferring 1,219,297 shares.
