Trading jumps for juniors stocks – Wednesday
Market activity resulted in advancing stocks being edged by declining stocks 4 to 5, pushing the junior market index down by 20.19 points to 2,394.34.
At the close, 13 securities traded as trading jumped 728 percent from Tuesday’s levels, ending with 9,170,473 units changing hands, than on Tuesday, while value traded, jumped 510 percent to $51,520,805 from $8,452,329, on Tuesday.
Market activities ended with 6 securities closing with bids higher than their last selling prices and 1 ending with a lower offer.
In other trading activity, AMG Packaging jumped $2.40 to end at $20 with 21,662 units changing hands, Blue Power closed with 1,240 units changing hands to close at $24.50 after falling $3.50, Caribbean Cream closed trading with 80,500 units at $10. Caribbean Flavours traded 894,508 units to end at $8.60 with a rise of 60 cents, Caribbean Producers gained 1 cents in trading 17,000 units to end at $3.51, Honey Bun traded 17,036 shares and fell 20 cents to $6, Jamaican Teas traded 3,296 units to end at $4. Jetcon Corporation lost 20 cents with 6,200 units changing hands, to end at $3.80, Lasco Distributors had 800,475 units trading and closed at $7, Lasco Financial fell 10 cents and ended with 69,370 shares changing hands at $3.10, Lasco Manufacturing closed at $4.99 with 7,025,629 shares trading. Medical Disposables traded 213,287 with a gain of 18 cents to end at a 52 weeks’ high of $5.05 and Paramount Trading dropped $1 to end with 20,270 shares changing hands at $25.
JSE shares fall in early trading – Tuesday
The Jamaica Stock Exchange market stocks indices fell in Tuesday morning trading with volume increasing over Monday’s levels.
At 10.55 am, a total of 28 securities traded, resulting in a volume of 2,592,474 shares changing hands carrying a value of $31,641,641, compared to 621,667 shares changing hands carrying a value of $3,693,105 on Monday.
The average number of shares traded amounts to 92,588 units compared to 28,258 on Monday. Market activity resulted in 10 stocks falling while the prices of 5 securities rose.
Cable & Wireless traded 103,300 units at 98 cents, JMMB Group 7.50% preference shares had 442,000 units at $1.10, Radio Jamaica 105,595 shares at $1.55, Sagicor Group traded 1,006,427 shares at $23.82, Caribbean Cream traded 55,000 at $9.45, Lasco Distributors had 203,221 shares traded at $7 after losing 89 cents and Lasco Financial Services had 301,293 units changing hands at $3.20.
The all Jamaica Composite Index fell 211.65 points to 186,202.76 the Jamaica Stock Exchange Market Index fell 189.25 points to 167,540.16, the Jamaica Stock Exchange combined index slipped 682.12 points to close at 180,322.46 and the junior market index dived 49.31 points to 2,428.47.
Juniors jump to another new record
Junior market stocks are trading in record territory in early morning session on the Jamaica Stock Exchange with Lasco Distributors rising to $7.85. Main market stock slipped with Scotia Investments falling from $30 to $27 on a day of moderate volumes.
Up to 10:45 am, JMMB Group traded 12,790 units at a 52 weeks’ high of $15 and Paramount Trading had 150 shares changing hands at a new all-time high of $24.50. Cable & Wireless had 100,000 shares changing hands with a loss of 4 cents at 92 cents, Caribbean Cream fell 40 cents and last traded at $9.10 with 35,000 units changing hands, Honey Bun traded 29,651 unit at $6.15 and Lasco Distributors gained 33 cents in trading 51,000 shares at $7.85.
A total of 26 securities traded, resulting in a volume of 423,544 shares changing hands carrying a value of $4,545,931, compared to 821,407 shares changing hands carrying a value of $7,914,772 on Thursday. The average number of shares traded amounts to 16,290 units compared to 27,380 on Thursday. Market activity resulted in 8 stock falling while the prices of 9 securities rose.
The all Jamaica Composite Index fell 136.42 points to 185,016.35, the Jamaica Stock Exchange Market Index fell 121.98 points to 166,479.30, the Jamaica Stock Exchange combined index climbed 186.03 points to close at 179,788.63 and the junior market index gained 29.13 points to a record 2,472.28.
Juniors’ advancers beat decliners – Tuesday
Trading volume rose strongly from Friday’s levels, ending with 397,764 units changing hands, 88 percent lower than on Friday, while the value traded dropped 89 percent to $1,373,477 from $12,272,247, on Friday.
Market activities ended with 8 securities closing with bids higher than their last selling prices and 1 ending with a lower offer.
In market activity Cargo Handlers stock has not traded since it closed at $86.10 on September 12, the market closed today with the bid at $88 to buy 3,000 units, with no units offered for sale, the will be split 10 for 1 stock, effective from the close of business on October 21.
In trading activity, AMG Packaging closed with a gain of 50 cents at $18 with 920 units changing hands, Caribbean Cream gained 1 cent with just 500 shares changing hands to close at $9.30, Caribbean Producers traded 200,000 units to end at $3.30, Consolidated Bakeries dropped 5 cents to end at $2.40 after trading 50,000 shares. C2W Music closed with 21,500 units changing hands to close at 24 cents, Derrimon Trading rose 10 cents and closed with 5,000 shares at $3.60, General Accident Insurance rose by 24 cents with 3,620 units changing hands at $2.64, Honey Bun traded 3,800 shares at $6.10 after falling 9 cents. Jamaican Teas rose 14 cents in trading 4,400 shares to close at $4.04, Key Insurance that was under selling pressure for weeks finally traded down to end at a 52 weeks’ low of $2.29 with 2,500 units for a loss of 10 cents, but the stock was on offer at $2.25. There were no bids to buy the stock at the close. KLE Group ended at $2.05 with 9,500 shares changing hands after falling by 5 cents, Lasco Distributors closed with a loss of 5 cents as only 499 units traded at $7.05, Lasco Financial ended with 9,703 shares changing hands at $3.35, after rising 5 cents and Lasco Manufacturing closed at $5.05 with 85,822 shares trading.
