Another positive week for Junior Market

The support line going back to the 2020 low in the market in March is steering the market slowly upwards.

Trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed higher at the close on Friday as well as for the week with three days of a rising index continuing the trend in recent weeks of a slowly rising market.
The market closed with an exchange of 4,892,108 shares at $13,413,027 as 28 securities traded compared to 4,370,450 units valued at $13,021,794 on Thursday. The day’s activities saw 28 securities changing hands, compared to 30 securities on Thursday and ended with the prices of 12 rising eight declining and eight closing with the prices unchanged.
The average trade of the day was 174,718 units at $479,037 in contrast to an average of 145,682 units at $434,060 on Thursday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 236,512 units for $445,444, in contrast, 178,269 units valued at $443,105. May ended with an average of 150,274 units at $491,077 for each security traded.

Consolidated Bakeries added 4 cents in closing at $1.55, with 39 shares changing hands. Dolphin Cove declined by 7 cents to end at $7.43 trading 1,000 stock units, Elite Diagnostic shed 47 cents to end at $3.78 after swapping 10,675 shares. Express Catering rose 8 cents to finish at $4.97 in exchanging 45,768 units, Fontana increased 12 cents to end at $5.67 with 425,052 stock units crossing the exchange, Fosrich eked out a rise of 1 cent to $3.56 in swapping 1,500 shares. Honey Bun rose 6 cents to settle at $5.50 and trading 20,599 stock units, iCreate increased 2 cents end at 61 cents with an exchange of 419,025 shares, Indies Pharma lost 30 cents to end at $2.53 in trading 2,041,908 shares. Jamaican Teas advanced by 6 cents to $4.55 with an exchange of 66,421 stock units, Jetcon Corporation lost 10 cents to close at $1.20 with the transfer of 167,533 stock units, Lasco Distributors gained 7 cents to end at $2.98 with 342,986 stock units crossing the market. Lasco Financial dipped 1 cent to $2.61 after swapping 39,603 units, Lasco Manufacturing increased 10 cents to end at $4 with an exchange of 207,929 stock units, Limners And Bards added 11 cents to settle at $2.46 with trading 47,863 shares. Mailpac Group lost 2 cents to close at $1.88, having swapped 280,194 units and tTech rose 1 cent ending at $4.70 with 1,000 stock units changing hands.

Junior Market trading in narrow band

For the month-to-date the Junior Market index moved in a narrow band with an average of 18 points in either direction, reflecting the uncertainty of investors as to the direction of the market currently.
The first half of the week showed promise of an upward trend, but that trajectory hit a minor setback on Thursday with the market index slipping just 7.23 points to close at 2,600.18 as advancing stocks just edged out declining ones.
Market activities concluded with the prices of 13 securities rising, 12 declining and five holding firm with the average PE ratio of the market ended at 9.8 based on 2020-21 earnings.
Trading activities, resulted in 4,379,450 units exchanged to the tune of $13,021,794 from 30 securities in contrast to 7,825,083 shares valued at 20,619,430 from 28 securities on Wednesday.
The day ended with an average of 145,682 units at $434,060 for each security traded in contrast to 279,467 units at $736,408 on Wednesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 178,269 units at $443,105 and previously 180,897 units at $443,834. In contrast, May closed with an average of 150,274 units for $491,077 for each security traded.

Mailpac tops Junior Market – Wednesday

Mailpac Group was once again the volume leader with just over 4 million units controlling 53 percent of the Junior Market trading volume on Wednesday, with the market index rising 5.73 points to close at 2,607.41.  
Trading on the Junior Market resulted in an exchange of 7,825,083 shares valued at 20,619,430 compared to 5,099,168 units valued at $15,226,012 from 30 securities on Tuesday. The day’s activities saw 28 securities changing hands, with the prices of nine rising 12 declining and seven stocks closing unchanged. The PE ratio of the market closed with an average of 9.9 times IC Insider.com projected 2020-21 earnings.
The securities trading averaged 279,467 units at $736,408 in contrast to an average of 169,972 units at $507,534. After closing higher on four of five days last week with the week closing with a gain of 42 points on Friday, the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange lost grounds on the first trading day of the week with the market Index declining 32.01 points to close at 2,581.40.
Trading on the finished with 30 securities changing hands, resulting in an exchange of 4,645,198 units valued at $13,350,189 compared to 2,764,337 units valued at $7,742,462 on Friday.
At the close of market activities, the prices of nine securities advanced, 11 declined and nine remained unchanged.

Solid Junior market bounce

The Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange bounced on Friday with the market index rising the most since May 28 when it put on a 48 points rally. The market index closed the week with a rise of 41.62 points to close at 2,613.41, the highest level since the start of June. 
At the close of market activities, the prices of 12 securities advanced, eight declined and 11 remained unchanged. The PE ratio of the market ended at 9.8 times IC Insider.com projected 2020-21 earnings.
Trading ended, with 32 securities changing hands, resulting in an exchange of 2,764,337 units at $7,742,462, down from 5,176,803 units for $13,735,351 on Thursday.
The average stock trading on Friday at 86,386 units at $241,952 was well below recent levels and around half the amounts in April and contrast with an average of 161,775 units for $429,230 on Thursday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 175,086 units valued at $408,136 and previously 186,349 units valued at $429,239. Trading in May closed with an average of 150,274 units at $491,077 for each security traded.

The Junior Market scraped out some gains on Thursday as the index advanced 15.44 points to close at 2,571.79 as trading picked up, with 32 securities changing hands, resulting in an exchange of 5,176,803 units at $13,735,350 compared to 4,550,105 units for $10,318,665 from 27 stocks on Wednesday.
At the close of market activities, the prices of nine securities advanced, 14 declined and 10 remained unchanged and the PE ratio ended at 9.6 times 2020-21 earnings.
The average stock trading on Thursday was 161,775 units for $429,230 in contrast to 168,522 units for an average of $382,173 on Wednesday. Junior Market drops 84 points this week

Trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Friday resulted in another day of decline of the Market Index, for the six consecutive days of fall and shedding 83.90 points for the week.

SSL Venture climbed 3 cents to  93 cents with 20,000 shares crossing the exchange and Stationery and Office Supplies fell 4 cents in the swapping of 2,238 units to land at $6.26.

Junior Market slips for a third day

Trading on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed on Wednesday with 36 securities changing hands, resulting in an exchange of 4,571,474 units valued at $12,078,991 compared to 12,626,886 units valued at $37,770,740 from 36 stocks on Tuesday.
At the close of market activities, the prices of 9 securities advanced, 12 declined and 14 remained unchanged. The Junior Market Index declined by 7.12 points to close at 2,589.65.
The average security traded for the day ended at 126,985 units and $335,528, in contrast to 350,747 units for an average of $1,049,187 on Tuesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amount 289,692 units valued at $1,086,852 and previously 372,181 units valued at $1,467,806. Trading in May closed with an average of 150,274 units valued at $491,077 for each security traded.

General Accident lost 51 cents in trading of 97,860 units at $5.52, GWest Corporation exchanged 10,996 shares to close at 95 cents, after falling 5 cents, Honey Bun climbed 25 cents and exchanged 85,194 shares at $5.45. Jamaican Teas ended trading with 118,470 shares, after rising 40 cents to end at $5, Jetcon Corporation closed 3 cents higher at 85 cents, with 41,800 stock units trading, Knutsford Express closed 8 cents higher at $8.60, trading 3,910 stock units. Lasco Distributors lost 2 cents with 717,278 shares changing hands to close at $2.91, Lasco Manufacturing declined by 22 cents in trading of 169,108 units at $4.28, Main Event lost 32 cents in ending at $4.18 while exchanging 9,108 shares and Medical Disposables climbed 22 cents and traded 14,727 shares at $6.75.
