JSE second worse fall

The Jamaica Stock Exchange closed with the second worse one-day fall in the market’s history and ended with, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index plunged 22,129.54 points to 434,832.42, the JSE Market nose-dived 20,034.15 points to 396,228.13 and the JSE Financial Index fell 7.46 points to 106.81.
The market closed with 41 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets after six stocks traded at 52 weeks’ lows. At the close prices of 8 stocks rose, 29 declined and 4 traded firm. The JSE Main Market activity ended with 35 securities accounting 19,892,130 units valued at $229,454,953 in contrast to 34,017,777 units valued at $260,298,044 from 43 securities on Friday.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 8.9 million shares for 45 percent of total volume, followed by Wisynco Group with 4.6 million shares for 23 percent of the day’s trade and Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 1.9 million shares for 9.6 percent market share. QWI Investments, with 1.3 million shares, was the only other stock trading more than one million units.
The Market closed with an average of 568,347 units valued at $6,555,856 for each security traded, in contrast to 791,111 units at an average of $6,053,443 on Friday. The average volume and value for the month to date amount to 759,584 units valued at $5,035,556 for each security changing hands compared to 774,392 units valued at $4,906,404 for each security traded. Trading in February resulted in an average of 624,731 units valued at $3,239,665 for each security.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading shows eleven stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and six stocks closing with lower offers. The PE ratio of the market ended at 15.7, while the Main Market ended at 14.8 times the 2019 earnings.
In the prime market, Barita Investments declined by $2.02 to $54.50 after trading 90,979 shares, Berger Paints closed $2 lower at $12, in transferring 1,929 units, Caribbean Cement dropped $4 swapping 67,350 shares to end at $50. First Rock gained 98 cents to settle at $11, with 32,954 stock units changing hands, Grace Kennedy slid to a 52 weeks’ low of $55.60, with a loss of $4.30 exchanging 70,534 shares, Jamaica Broilers lost $4 to finish at $27, after trading 9,508 units. Jamaica Producers closed $2 lower at a 52 weeks’ low of $18, in transferring 22,534 stock units, Jamaica Stock Exchange gained $2 to finish at $23.50, in trading 41,437 shares, JMMB Group shed $1 to end at $37, in swapping 102,419 shares. Kingston Wharves lost 50 cents exchanging 16,336 units and closed at $45, Mayberry Jamaican Equities fell 47 cents to a 52 weeks’ low of $7.94, with 42,615 shares changing hands, NCB Financial shed $3 to close at $165, in transferring 616,360 shares. 138 Student Living ended at $6.70, with gains of 70 cents trading 300 units, PanJam Investment jumped $10 to $95, after exchanging 9,003 shares, but closed with the offer down at $86.79, Proven Investments closed 99 cents higher to $40.99, in swapping 3,291 units. Pulse Investments gained 45 cents to finish at a record close of $3.35 in trading 424,119 stock units, Sagicor Group tumbled $10 to $43.01, in transferring 59,515 shares, Sagicor Real Estate Fund closed 50 cents lower at a 52 weeks’ low of $6.50, with 2,300 stock units changing hands. Sygnus Credit Investments lost 49 cents to end at $18, in swapping 30,024 shares, Victoria Mutual Investments closed at $7.06, with a loss of 63 cents after trading 171,283 units and Wisynco Group declined to $17, after falling $1 with 4,600,987 shares crossing the exchange.
Trading in the US dollar market ended with 159,738 units valued at over US$25,035. The market lost 0.38 points to close at 210.48. First Rock lost 1 cent trading 7,841 units to end at 9 US cents, Margaritaville lost 9 cents to close at 20 US cents, in exchanging 3,316 units, Proven Investments transferred 21,441 units at 28 US cents. Sterling Investments gained 0.3 of a cent after trading 4,335 shares to finish at 2.40 US cents and Sygnus Credit Investments shed 1cent to end at 14 US cents, with 122,705 shares changing hands.

7 JSE Main Market stocks hit 1 year low

The Main Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange closed with 47 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets, with the prices of 14 stocks advancing, 14 declining and 19 stocks trading firm, leading to moderate declines in the market indices after five companies’ stock closed at 52 weeks’ lows.
At the close, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index declined by 1,576.07 points to close at 460,418.78, the JSE Market Index fell 1,540.81 points to 419,288.78 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.26 points to 115.87.
The JSE Main Market activity ended with 41 securities accounting for 60,500,964 units valued at $170,953,012 in contrast to 21,490,705 units valued at $169,613,509 from 44 securities on Tuesday.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 50.3 million shares for 83 percent of total volume, followed by Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 3.2 million units for 5.3 percent of the day’s trade, and QWI Investments with 2.1 million units for 3.5 percent market share. The other stocks trading more than one million units are JMMB Group with 1.1 million shares and Wisynco Group with 1.07 million shares.
The Market closed with an average of 1,475,633 units valued at $4,169,586 for each security traded, in contrast to 537,268 units valued at an average of $4,240,338 on Tuesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amount to 786,535 units valued at $4,854,957 for each security changing hands compared to 699,869 units valued at $4,953,209 for each security traded. Trading in February resulted in an average of 624,731 units valued at $3,239,665 for each security.

Scotia Group dropped $2.40 to end at $51, after swapping 26,251 stock units, Seprod shed $2.05 trading 33,609 shares and closed at $41.95, Supreme Ventures closed at a 52 weeks’ low of $19, with a loss of 30 cents exchanging 77,295 shares. Sygnus Credit Investments closed at $18, after falling 91 cents with 187,246 units crossing the market, Victoria Mutual Investments closed 36 cents higher to $7.20, with 363,279 shares changing hands and Wisynco Group lost $1.50 to end at $16 after trading 1,072,786 stock units.
Trading in the US dollar market ended with 89,968 units valued at over US$17,187. The market gained 0.87 points to close at 209.32. First Rock Capital gained 2 cents trading 201 units to close at 10 US cents, JMMB Group 5.75% preference share gained 3 cents in exchanging 1,000 units to close at US$2.15, JMMB Group 6% preference share transferred 800 units and gained 1 cent to end at US$1. Margaritaville lost 9 cents to finish at 20 US cents, with 2,474 units changing hands, Proven Investments closed trading with 7,924 units at 28 US cents and Sygnus Credit Investments lost 0.9 of a cent to end at 14.01 US cents, with an exchange of 77,569 units.

JSE main market down again

There is no end in sight for the falling prices on the Jamaica Stock Exchange as investors sent the market indices down sharply by the close of trading on Tuesday.
The market closed with 48 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with the prices of 18 stocks advancing, 18 declining and eight securities trading firm. At the close the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index plunged 17,178.04 points to close at 461,994.85, the JSE Market Index nose-dived by 15,605.81 points to 420,829.59 and the JSE Financial Index slid 4.64 points to 115.61.
The JSE Main Market activity ended with 44 securities accounting for 21,490,705 units valued at $169,613,510 in contrast to 28,292,088 units valued at $246,450,479 from 43 securities on Monday.
Kingston Properties led trading with 6 million shares for 28 percent of total volume, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 4.8 million units for 22 percent of the day’s trade, and Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 3.2 million units for 15 percent of the market’s volume.
The Market closed with an average of 488,425 units valued at an average of $3,854,852 for each security traded, in contrast to 657,956 units valued at an average of $5,731,406 on Monday. The average volume and value for the month to date amount to 691,386 units valued at $4,884,889 for each security changing hands compared to 722,611 units valued at $5,069,124 for each security traded. Trading in February resulted in an average of 624,731 units valued at $3,239,665 for each security.

PanJam Investment ended the day at $87.80, with a loss of $1.20 after transferring 63,172 shares, Portland JSX Fund ended $1.50 higher to settle at $9, in swapping 5,408 units, Proven Investments gained $1 to finish at $39.50, after trading 18,556 stock units. Pulse Investments lost 60 cents to close at $9.40, with an exchange of 75,638 shares, Sagicor Group dropped $3 to end at $57, in transferring 209,650 shares. Scotia Group added $1.40 to end at $53.40, after swapping 1,495 units, Seprod gained $1 trading 493,572 stock units and closed at $44, Stanley Motta closed 35 cents higher to $5.20, with an exchange of 88,500 units, Supreme Ventures closed at $19.30, after losing $1.70 transferring 364,466 shares. Sygnus Credit Investments closed at $18.91, with a loss of $2.04 swapping 110,256 stock units, Victoria Mutual Investments ended 84 cents higher to settle at $6.84, with 446,117 shares changing hands and Wisynco Group gained 50 cents to end trading 501,131 shares at $17.50.
Trading in the US dollar market ended with 88,686 units for US$29,064. The market lost 1.97 points to close at 208.45. First Rock traded 26,148 units at 8 US cents, JMMB Group 5.75% preference share closed at US$2.12, with a loss of 3 cents exchanging 6,975 units. Proven Investments closed with gains of 2 cents transferring 30,750 shares at 28 US cents and Sygnus Credit Investments finished at 15 US cents, with 24,813 units changing hands.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange recorded gains in the leading market indices on Monday but just barely dented the massive 55,391 points loss since the beginning of March. At the close the JSE, All Jamaican Composite Index, advancing 4,841.49 points to close at 479,172.89, the JSE Market Index climbed 4,382.37 points to 436,435.40, while the JSE Financial Index gained 2.13 points to 120.25.
The market closed with 47 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with the prices of 13 stocks advancing, 27 declining and seven securities trading firm. The JSE Main Market activity ended with 43 securities accounting for 28,292,088 units valued at $246,450,479 in contrast to 28,587,236 units valued at $124,299,870 from 41 securities on Friday.
Sagicor Real Estate Fund led trading with 9.6 million shares for 34 percent of total volume, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 9.5 million units for 33.7 percent of the day’s trade and Sagicor Select Financial Fund with 2.7 million units for 9.5 percent market share.
The Market closed with an average of 657,956 units valued at an average of $5,731,406 for each security traded, in contrast to 697,250 units valued at an average of $3,031,705 on Friday. Rising JSE stocks dominated – Friday

Trading commenced in First Rock Capital on Friday on both the Main and US dollar markets of Jamaica Stock Exchange. The market closed with rising stocks outperforming decliners and pushed the gains for the week to just under 5,000 points.  
At the close, the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index advanced 3,121.11 points to close at 538,262.01, the JSE Market Index rose 2,814.17 points to 490,002.61 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.67 points to 132.78.
The market closed with 43 securities changing hands in the Main and US dollar markets with the prices of 20 advancing, 12 declining and 11 trading firm. The JSE Main Market activity ended with 38 securities accounting for 15,728,098 units for $58,677,916 in contrast to 16,632,332 units valued at $128,247,176 from 41 securities on Thursday.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 7.3 million shares for 46.5 percent of total volume. Sagicor Select Financial Fund followed with 5.4 million units for 34.3 percent of the day’s trade and Sagicor Select Manufacturing and Distribution Fund ended with 1.2 million stock units for 7.4 percent market share.
The Market closed with an average of 413,099 units valued at an average of $1,544,156 for each security traded, in contrast to 405,667 units valued at an average of $3,127,980 on Thursday. The average volume and value for the month to date amount to 605,686 units valued at $2,739,272 for each security changing hands compared to 617,823 units valued at $2,820,081 for each security traded. Trading in January resulted in an average of 626,134 units valued at $3,511,981 for each security.

Sagicor Group advanced $1.40 to $70.50 exchanging 36,185 units, Scotia Group gained 65 cents and ended at $54, in transferring 54,800 stock units. Seprod closed at $53, after climbing $3 with 40,018 shares changing hands, Supreme Ventures lost 99 cents to settle at $22.01, in swapping 92,596 stock units and Sygnus Credit Investments advanced by 95 cents to $26.95, with an exchange of 101,488 shares.
Trading in the US dollar market ended with 114,825 units at US$57,386. The market declined by 2.41 points to close at 229.80. JMMB Group 5.75% preference share traded 16,500 units at US$2, Margaritaville Turks rose 2.3 cents in exchanging 10 units at 35 US cents. Proven Investments transferred 64,865 units at 31 US cents, Sterling Investments swapped 16,500 shares at 2.7 US cents and Sygnus Credit Investments lost 1 cent to settle at 17 US cents, with 16,950 units changing hands.
